What does GTO suggest for THIS BETTING STRUCTURE?

Normally I do illustrations for this type of threads, but this time I'll try to describe it with just text. I think this will be easier to understand.

It's a simple concept, yet it does seem to prove that what was thought to be impossible is now possible. By "impossible" I mean free pot donations and the nut-peddling 99% passive strategy that makes it unplayable. So instead of normal bet/call/raise/fold/check, you donate the pot anytime you want with any amount of money.

Imagine that you'll make pot donations in two different places:

- Alpha donations go into the middle of the table >>> (INNER POT)
- Beta donations stay in your betting area >>> (OUTER POT)

You can do Alpha or Beta anytime freely, there's no order for players to act. You simply take your chips and place them in the right spot(s) if you want.

- The inner pot is won by the player with the best poker hand.
- The outer pot is won by the player who donated the most to the inner pot. If there's a tie here, the pot is won by the player who donated the most to the outer pot.

What would be the GTO strategy for this betting structure ??

In my opinion the 99% passive strategy is no longer good, because if you have a strong hand and your opponent donates big Beta with small Alpha, you are somehow forced to make a bigger Alpha donation than him. Which means the game becomes very strategic and even allows bluffing.

But I was looking forward to more sacred geometric designs.

gto would be to never bet anything into the side pot

gto would be to never bet anything into the side pot

But the side pot (outer pot) is a tie-breaker and decides the winner if there's a tie. So you can for example only match opponent's Alpha donation and add some Beta to have advantage over him. He can then:

- stop donating (and lose outer pot)
- add more Alpha
- add more Beta than you

All 3 options are good for you.

no

if i have 1k my max buying power is 1k

it is not 1k-n with n in another pot as a tie breaker

you and another player both have 1k

you put 500 in A and 500 in B
villian puts 1k in A

you lose 500 to villian

you put 9999 in A and 1 in B
villian puts 1k in A

you lose 1 to villain

so nobody would ever in their right mind put money in B

so there's no "buy pot B" incentive so you're just going to play without that at all and people will just play normal poker, and again, it's dumb to put any money in their either, because you don't need to match to win and there's no bluffing

so everyone will just check it down and the person who hit bingo with the best hand will win nothing because nobody put any money in

What about the main pot (inner pot) ?? In both examples you only said what will happen to the side pot (outer pot).

In the 1st example you lose $500, but there's still $1500 in the main pot - and the best poker hand will win it.

In the 2nd example you lose $1, but there's still $1999 in the main pot - again, the best poker hand will collect it.

Side pot donation (Beta >> "outer pot") encourages your opponent to put more Alpha $ into the main pot, because it's like extra money and by playing offensive he might win much more.

are you unaware that the gto solution to a game without blinds and antes is fold everything but AA which you jam pre?

There are ANTES of course in this concept although I didn't mention it, because I considered this an obvious thing.

You've done this donating thing before. It doesn't work.

I had a good laugh, thanks for brightening the day
