Tried to get my mrs into watching GoT many times and keep getting shot down, so I've never watched it.
Is GoT any good in your opinion Mr. suited? I considered watching it multiple times but didn't watch any so far
first season is among the best in television history
follow up seasons are nearly as good
just feel free to stop and not watch last two seasons, particularly the very last
they follow the books up until those last two seasons, at which point they are now outpacing the books
in season one, a journey of a character across the kingdom will take several episodes because it would take weeks or months and thus they draw it out
in the final season, they begin ignoring all of those constraints of the real world and have characters travel across the continent and back in a single episode while seemingly only a few days pass in the process - all because the writers wanted to just jam it in there
rule of cool became the predominant rule and they began to toss out everything that made the original so great which was realism
ie it goes into great detail explaining things like how such and such person can only raise a few hundred soldiers because he can only get about a half dozen from each village and even then he needs to keep them happy or they'll just pack up and head back to their farms in the middle of the night and how much time it'll take to call those men together, arm them and then march to their destination- whereas in later seasons someone snaps their fingers and they have an army of 100k magically ready with all the fixins and no supply issues or struggle to feed them
like in the final episodes we literally have plot devices of main characters completely forgetting about the existence of another opposing army
literally the equivalent of landing troops on normandy and saying "what the heck are ze german's doing here in bunkers?"
