Won my first pot over $1k

Won my first pot over $1k

I'm an older dude who usually plays $4-$8 limit Omaha. Not to win money ... just to socialize.

My game broke and I didn't want to go home so I plucked down $200 and sat down at a $1-$3 NLH table and after 3-4 hours had found some run good and worked my way up to a stack close to $600. Villain stack size is about the same.

Game was kinda limpy and about 7 players saw a flop for $10 each.

I was hold KQo, Villain was holding 88.

Flop comes K87. I am way behind. Top pair vs a set.

I bet $25 and villain calls to trap.

Turn is another K.. I improve to trips and villain improves to a full house.

I see trips with a solid kicker. I bet $50 and villain is still in trapping mode and just flats behind.

River is my gin card. It's a Q. And I know that I have the nuts with KKKQQ. I take my time and peel out a bet of $125.

Villain perspective ... his 888KK is the 4th nuts. He is losing only to KK, KQ and K7. He can rule out KK because of the preflop action and K7 because no tight old man in their right mind is playing that junk. The only way I'm beating him is if I caught a 3 outer on the river. He decides to raise to $250. I of course jam and he calls.

Nice hand!

Man, it's been a LONG time since I've caught this kind of cooler. So sweet! Congrats!

👍

I can remember my first $1000 night & tournament score, but I think I might’ve won a $4500 pot (5-10 PLHE, great game) before winning a $1000 one in 10/20 or 15/30, though there had to be some with overs buttons.

Good job!

Wow is villian dumb, when you jam as an old man you have KK or KQ every single time
