Dealer mistake
Open and two calls and I look down with joy at aces on the button. I raise. They all call and the flop comes out. Naturally, they check to me and as I gather my bet and push it in - I’m horrified because an instant before the dealer dealt the turn and said action here.
There was a pause as everyone realized what happened and I had to pull the bet back. A guy that was about to bet now checked, as did the rest and now that my hand was face up, I won a small pot. Steamed, but all I said was I think you cost me money there.
I went on and had a good session. As I was picking up to leave, that dealer rotated in and as he was getting things ready to deal, I flipped him a dollar, smiled and left.
Dealing, just like poker, is a hard way to make an easy living. You have to show up and go long hours and a lot of people are not very nice. No one cares they say, but I like people more than money.
I didn’t want the guy to feel bad and I imagine he’ll be more careful with us old guys in the future, though I really didn’t take that long. He was trying to move quickly to please everyone and simply made a mistake.
It took me awhile, but I have learned to not get mad at every little thing. The people that get real angry are usually losers. You lose with aces on average 1 out of 5 times, but many players lose their minds. It’s only a game.
I think maybe I’ve finally matured as a poker player.

An additional reward is when you go back and encounter the same dealer there is no negativity. Well handled.
