~2.5ish years later update lol. Been lurking, reading, getting excited for WSOP this summer. Some studying :p .Some great threads recently, especially the gay schizo lawyer, inspiring me to post an update.

Spent most of 2023 in New Zealand on a working holiday visa. Had fun partying, meeting people from all over the world, and blasting off whatever money I had leftover at the end of each week on Sunday MTT's. Lived in an incredibly cool apartment for most of the trip, then had a big road trip through the country before returning to Canada. Looking back, not very proud of my productivity during this period, but I have very fond memories and really feel like I was in a once-in-a-lifetime social environment.

Beginning of 2024 I took a 2 month contract job in an extremely remote part of Canada. Had negative dollars to my name at the time. Was able to pay off my credit card from traveling and save 5k by the end of it. I took the 5k to play a 1-3-5 1k cap game while staying at my parents house in my hometown. I spun my roll up to ~15k in 6 weeks from playing in that game a few times a week, betting on NHL playoffs, and a trip to Playground for WSOPC.

Found a cheap 1 month rental near Fremont for the entirety of June 2024 and decided to try my first WSOP. Had a lot of fun with a traveling friend who I split my rental with, and other friends in Vegas for non-gambling things. Mostly got wrecked playing PLO at Aria. My roll dusted to ~2k with some emergency money at home waiting for me. Booked a flight home halfway through the month.

Fired an 1100 at Venetian as a last ditch effort to blow my flight off and finish the month grinding it out. Spun a small stack up before losing AA

I had plans to return to the previous remote job on a 6 month contract, but it wouldn't start for ~14 weeks. I finished the summer and began autumn in a very humbling construction job in hometown for 2 months to continue blasting off on the weekends playing MTT's and trying to win the NFL Milly Maker on DK.

Flash forward to now, and I am beginning the 6th and final month on the aforementioned 6 month contract. When I say remote part of Canada, I mean REMOTE. I am talking no roads out of town and one flight a day.

There is a dealer's choice cash game running on occasion, featuring a bunch of games that I have never heard of and are likely unique to this region. Basically no resources or evidence of these games online (that I can find). I have ran quite well and won in these games, mostly calling PLO5 whenever I am dealing and just trying to survive otherwise.

I'm down betting sports (last half of NFL season, and too many NHL parlays). Also had a -3k lesson trying to trade meme coins.

I am anticipating to be headed home with 16k, +/- 1k. The plan for May is to play in the 1-3-5 1kcap game back home, and mix in an incredibly juicy 500cap PLO game on occasion. Mostly studying PLO material right now, along with some mindset stuff from RIO. (Sam Forde seminar series episode 1 was :shocked:

I have the first 2 weeks of June booked in Vegas, staying on the strip this time. I plan on taking Aria PLO down for what I lost last summer and hopefully cash my first WSOP event after busting a couple last summer.

I also have a flight to South America booked straight from Vegas. If I have a losing WSOP, this will get abandoned. I want to build out some online business ideas and further some personal development I have been working on, and need the space/cheap lifestyle to do so.

Being in near-isolation for the past few months has been eye-opening to say the least. An extreme amount of reflection going on with all the time I have to myself. We live in a crazy, crazy world, with a future that has never been more uncertain than it is now. Good luck bros, it is going to be a great summer :p
