hi all
i am clicking cards since 2012. I will share a lof of insights in near future hear.
but before, i want to welcome the active and non active readers here on my blog.
my life has changed a lot in the last years. trust me when I say, I have seen a lot the last ten years.
my life in a nutshell
-**** up school
-work as a mechanic
-build family
-build career
-loose family
-figure out that career is not worth it
-turned 30 and figured out what is important for my life and what is matrix bullshit
-try to enjoy life as simple and healthy as possible, building habits and the life, i always wanted.
for every point above, i can and probably will share some stories of my experience, hoping that my failures can add value to some of you.
I have seen some blogs here, they usually start with a very big first post, huge like the bible.
So basically, for my first post, this will be it. Just to make sure what topics will be next here
Next posts in the waiting line:
- my poker introduction, since 2012 and what did change to make me finally win (graph included)
- what i aim for to become (semi) pro, format and site
- my daily study / grind routine, volume
- grind results 2024 so far + goals for 2024!
- mindset topics (most interesting!! what works for poker, works in life!)
+ my main motivation to be active here is to get in touch with like-minded grinders! come say hi!
Hi all,
time to come up with a little update on my journey 😀 some nice stuff was happening the last days and i love to share here.
Lol appreciate the brevity vibes
thanks man i try my best to keep it simple and easy to read. sometimes not easy haha
How does this work? Poker stars enforces a 4 table cap on behalf of the German government? Can’t you get around it by playing multiple sites?
I’m American so just curious about the rules over there, usually it’s deposit/withdraw limits the govt is interested in, the table cap thing is weird
there seems to be a database for german players now. when you log in to a pokersite, you are not able to play games on another site at the same time.
the centralized database makes it impossible to play at different clients at the same time. this is why many germans left to Austria or even far away from Germany to play.
the poker sites had to program a table cap, so that german players can not register more than 4 tables. it is ridicoulous imo because online gambling like slots and roulette is still allowed.
The biggest joke is that online poker is treated as a game of chance in Germany.
However, as soon as you win, poker is legally classified as a game of skill and you are forced to pay taxes. what a lousy trick.
Lol wow this was very inspiring and delightful to read, I definitely relate... good luck on your journey brother
ahhh thanks man, happy to read this.
SO, what is new?
About a week ago I broke the magical bankroll limit of $450. With this I was able to reach the limit I had set myself and switched to the $3 spin and goes.
I've been out in the sun a lot the last few days, skating and drinking beer with friends. So I was a bit lazy at the tables.
I've currently played 480 games and had to find my way around at the beginning.
Maybe I was a little scared at the tables because there were suddenly opponents with 100k games of experience lol.
But I'm confident that I'll beat the games in the long term.
My year currently looks like this. I will now pay less and less attention to the chip ev and more to the rakeback.
In the flash games the winnings come from the rake, not from the chip ev, so it's time to change the focus.
I QUIT MY JOB
The biggest personal change is that yesterday I had my last 9-5 working day as an employee. 😀 I'm very happy with it.
This gives me more time to concentrate on playing poker. It's just very hard to play poker for 5-6 hours on top of a 9 hour workday.
Especially when you've been stuck in front of the screen in the office for a long time, you lack the motivation to sit and watch again for a long time.
I am also a person who needs a lot of exercise and fresh air. So I think that was the right step.
LETS GOOOOO
A little fun fact is that a few days ago I was also in the top 100 in the GG Poker ranking.
I ran pretty hot in one evening session and when I started playing poker again the next morning, there was this little button next to my avatar.
I'm not going to lie, the ego feels pretty good but you have to be careful that the game doesn't suffer because of your own ego.
MORE FOCUS PLEASE
The last thing I would like to mention is that I've been on YouTube and Twitch a bit lately. also besides poker.
This can become a problem if you spend more time on the video than on what really matters: grinding.
I thought that if I'm going to watch videos, it should mostly be poker-related stuff.
A little bit of other stuff to chill out is ok, but I have to be more careful not to waste too much time on unimportant stuff.
ok that's it for now.
have a nice day ya'll 😀
Nice update. Feel the same way about YT and Twitch, I ended up basically dropping those altogether and just filling time with stuff I actually care about.
I QUIT MY JOB
The biggest personal change is that yesterday I had my last 9-5 working day as an employee. 😀 I'm very happy with it.
Congratulations, living the poker dream! I'm also planing and hoping to leave my job to become full-time poker pro! Waiting for your first update as a full-time poker pro...
hi all,
time for a new feedback. I have now played around 17000 spin and goes on ggpoker. I've now reached the $3 limit.
I sometimes find the player pool in the $3 games really strange. sometimes the pool is 60 people large and I only have unknown opponents.
But at some times the pool is 150-180 people large and I only sit at the table with players who have played 50k, 70k or 120k games.
The lobbies in the higher limits will certainly not get any easier.
Another observation...
...about my own gaming behavior kept me busy all morning.
Yesterday I went to bed very depressed after a long day of grinding with several sessions from early in the morning to late in the evening.
Maybe I shouldn't have skipped the fitness session and paid more attention to physical exercise instead of playing poker.
My observation is (and I've now observed it on two unrelated days and clearly felt it in my mood) that days
when I force myself to grind for volume are characterized by more noticeable losses and signs of tilt.
Although I can confidently say that I have my mindset and inner center under control:
yesterday there were a handful of spots where I was very close to pounding my fist into the monitor. But I kept playing every time and told myself:
"Make the right decision and don't pay too much attention to the result."
and although I agree with this principle, throughout the day things didn't get better, they got worse.
At the end of the day I realized that my mood at the table was not without reason. I wasn't even really tilting but somehow everything was going against me.
It feels like a terrible vicious cycle of bad moods, the urge to keep going, bad results, pushing yourself further, more getting crushed and more bad moods.
I want to show what I mean using my previous monthly graph:
They say flash spin and gos (spin and golds, 15bb spins, whatever) only become truly profitable because of the volume.
But when I try to block everything out and push for sample size, my game seems to suffer and I need a mindset strategy to get better.
Has any of the players reading here also had experience with this phenomenon (play more samples -> doom switch in the results)?
Olivier Busquet,
also known as livb112 and Adonis112 is known as one of the best heads up sit and go players in the world.
I've always liked him and his style and follow podcast episodes here and there where he appears as a guest.
In a broadcast he talked about his poker routine. That might be an approach I would like to try
He describes his poker routine in 3 poker sessions of 2 hours each.
This means that even less than 2 hours is possible if he notices that he is having problems with concentration.
As I understand it, the sessions take place at fixed times in the morning, lunch and evening.
If he is unable to attend at a certain time of day, he will skip the session and not make up for it.
I find the approach somehow interesting because it turns playing poker into a time-capped event in which you can, want and must concentrate as 100% as possible.
This is at best a healthier approach than grinding bulemia until you can no longer sit straight.
It should be mentioned that Busquet plays cash games today, and not HUSNGs like in his prime time.
It should also be mentioned that his poker schedule may be related to his family's organizational management and not to his mental or physical capacity.
get back on track!
The poker day yesterday and the long poker day a few days ago weren't much fun, but I think you have to get through it. I'm going to use today to build a little more balance into my everyday poker routine.
Today there was already a nice 5km run through the rain, a hot shower, oatmeal with raspberries and cashews and a little tidying up of the apartment. All these little things help you return to the tables with fun and a clear, fresh mind.
one more question!
Finally, I have a crucial question for the 2p2 community. an extremely important question. Who do you pick....????? I ask for active participation! 😃
Have a nice day ya'll!
