$40 to ??? on Global Poker cash games / $1000 to ??? Live
Mostly using this thread to hold myself accountable and keep track of my progress. I deposited $40 on Global around the start of the month and was playing JSNGs before I realized they are mostly high variance and require insane volume to realize any +EV. Since then, I've mostly 4-tabled 6-max cash games, and occasionally 6 or 9-tabled. Trying to exercise somewhat responsible BRM so I'm taking shots when I have 15 BIs, sticking at 20 BIs, and dropping back down at 15 BIs. To the extent there's a good bonus, I'll deposit more, but I don't plan on taking advantage of deposit bonuses.
For live poker, I'm much more flexible with BRM though I'll only be playing 1/3 at a casino until I have 10BIs for 2/5, but I may grind til I have more if the game functions as a 2/5/10 assuming there's just a straddle all the time. Casino trips will probably only be once or twice a month since there's no place really convenient for me, but I haven't been in a long time. Home games are probably not beatable at the stakes I can afford for now, but if I found a really good game that isn't just a huge rake trap, I'd play.
For some background, I was probably a breakeven microstakes semi-reg back in 2009-2010 on FT/PS. I think I sucked. Also played live a ton and was a bit better than breakeven since live poker was super soft. Played a bit more frequently in a home game in 2014-2016 but since then, I've pretty much played 0 poker. I know the game has changed a bit so I've done a bit of learning.

Good luck! Nice results so far online.
Thanks bud!
Was briefly over $350 today so decided to split 4 tables of 10nl and 20nl. Main thing I need to remember is to not be a nit when I'm taking a shot and to not change my game in response to the stakes. It does feel like people are perhaps paying a little more attention, challenging my c-bets a little more frequently, but maybe not. I'm a somewhat surprised at how little overlap there is between the player bases in both stakes. But anyway, hoping to be fully rolled for nl20 by the end of the weekend, but I got some busy days coming up.

Finally rolled for NL20. Also feels good to run good and win a flip, make a semi-hero call, and thin value bet three streets to help build the roll and give me a little cushion now that I can try to play four NL20 tables. I picked a couple gross places to bluff large/shove on rivers that in retrospect made little sense but happened to work, and as soon as they weren't snapped off, knew would probably power through, but bleh. Hopefully it sticks now and I can keep improving a bit and winning at these stakes.

Been grinding NL20 for a little over a week and have been running decently well, binking a set/flush/straight and upsetting some regs who make fun of me in chat. Nothing really new to add but hoping to be at NL50 before the end of November. I'm right around where I'd want to be to start shot taking but I think I want to hit closer to 20BIs before I start 1 or 2 tabling NL50. I feel like the game may start to get more challenging there.
Also been occasionally registering for some of the microstakes tournaments when there's a good overlay or if I have nothing to do for a few hours during the evening. It's kind of crazy how hard it is to really get some grip on a MTT if you're below 15bbs and how often you need to win flips to build a stack, and how once you have some cushion it's easy to collect blinds and chip up more frequently.
Anyway...

Went through a small downswing after taking a shot at NL50 with 15BIs. Was flat or barely making any money for around a week or so but grinded through it and kept growing the roll. Finally rolled for NL50, but only 2-tabling it along with NL20 until I have around 25BIs. Psychologically, it feels like a bigger jump but I'm trying to play mostly the same. Again, pretty surprised that there aren't many NL20 regs at NL50. Next step is to 4 and 6 table NL50 and then take shots at NL100 when I have around 20BIs. At that point, I'll start withdrawing to fund the live bankroll and when I have around $3,000, I'll take trips to play in the casino.
