$50,000 in 100 days 200RnC

$50,000 in 100 days 200RnC

Decided I wanted to try and push myself and I normally excel when my words are out in public so here I go.

About me:
Played poker for nearly 10 years, originally played HU hypers on stars, went from 1.50s to 1ks until action dried up and I decided it wasn't worth it staying up all night playing. Now I have moved to GG, I started playing 200 RnC. I wasn't completely new to the format, I've playing 500z on stars before and some 1k/2k reg tables but I stopped since I didn't find it so easy to mix formats. I have played almost 700k hands since my transition in mid 2023 but I should really massively improve this volume, hence this challenge to force me. I also played some 1k reg tables on gg but I was decently surprised with the level of play there so want to take some time to consider my approach to come back.

My approach:
I will count the challenge as 100 working days, for me this means every day except Friday or Sunday. It's also possible I miss some days around christmas and new year. So I am setting my end goals as the last day of March and I will start tomorrow. I think in a worst case scenario I can estimate 3bb/100 rb and aim for 0bb/100 wr. This would leave me needing to do just over 8k hands/day, approximately 10 hours work. I will not focus on making it a strategy thread but I may drop interesting hands from time to time. Each day I will have a checklist of things I need to accomplish and I will post graph update ever 10 working days. Since I started playing RnC my biggest volume day is 9603 hands and its the only day I played more than 8k hands, and my biggest volume month is 100k hands, so its going to take a massive effort for me to get close.

Other aims in each day:

In this challenge I also try and excel with my off table approach. I will also have 100 days of exercise and stretching. Normally I would run a lot but I am carrying an injury currently so my exercise will be bouldering and gym work. Bouldering takes much more time so the majority will be gym work since I have a home gym I do not need to travel. I also have a German Shepherd that I need to do about an hour of activity a day with. I also learn Estonian, so I will put 15 minutes a day into that. Then I will try and eat very clean, that I wont miss a single day with. I will allow myself two cups of tea a day, and the rest will be clean whole foods and water. Finally, I will also do a minimum of 1 hour theory a day, this will mostly be me checking my hand histories and seeing if my thoughts align with reality.

Post challenge:
Once it is over I may continue this thread to chronicle my journey. I have had one thread previously and it definitely helps me stay on track with my goals so here I go.

We used to play HU hypers back in 2013/14 around the same stakes. Great to see how well you've done since then! Best of luck with the future grind too 😀

Where are the other houses and wives located, if I may ask?

Nowhere, only have energy for one wife and one house haha

Week 2 review:

Volume fell off on Saturday, ended up being late to start and then just never really got going. Played around 1600 hands. Third week I am going to make sure I update the blog once a day with goals and that should stop me falling behind again. I will just do 6400 hands a day this week every day, still in two minds about how much to push leaderboard or not but there is also some benefit in just putting down consistent volume. Felt I played ok this week, hovering around B game.

graph of week:

Ev profit: 160.64
Actual profit: 1530.21

Still not running too hot but not too concerned, it's a struggle not to wake up early and finish off leaderboard grind good but I think I will just grind some minor places before the reset and no more at the moment. Often I get $100 extra from the leaderboard but then volumes seems to struggle further down the line, I might try next week a bit of a leaderboard grind but then maybe I'll do 3 big days with a day off after each one.

Day 12 goals:
() 6400 hands

() 15 minutes Estonian

I remember your name in the hs husng lobbies on stars and also sweated some of your games (did you have some pokemon as an avatar or smth?).

Good luck with your goals!

Thanks, yea I have a Mew avatar so you're correct.

Was a bit useless with daily updates last week, had 2 extra days off also so volume came in quite short. So I'm on 13 playing days and 2 extra days off. Until new year I'm going to do just do 6400 hands a day and barely touch happy hour. At this point I'll take stock and think about the best way forward. I keep getting baited in by happy hour but then volume tends to fall when i push it so I think its just not worth it when you are playing 4 days in a row back to back. Maybe some exceptionally easy days I'll push it but we will see how it plays out.

Been a tough start so far, winning days have been rare, I've reviewed a lot of my hands and feel my level of play has stayed decently high, just things not working out as it happens sometimes. Think I've been in a very poor run but still break even in ev so I take solace in that.

Hello and goood luck

I hope to see you achieving your goal soon

In a scale from 1 to 10 , how much would you rate this pool in terms of difficulty?

How many tables do you play ?If 4, do you think that your WR would increase a lot if you play less tables?

It's very difficult to come up with a rating honestly. It's also changing, I do think recently it has been quite a tough pool since the rake is high people playing better has a significant effect. I know some respectable regs that struggle a lot in the pool. It also depends what wr you are aiming for. If you are ok with -2bb I would say its not tough. if you want 1+bb I'd say its very tough.

I play 4 tables. I think it would increase slightly but not dramatically. I review a lot of my hands and think I am doing pretty well as picking up the nuances of most hands. I do notice some mistakes I do where I fold a hand without thinking too much when I really shouldn't or call when its not good but I dont think that happens enough to tank the wr. I also know the pool pretty well at this point so I already have an idea of my approach against most people.

Week review:

Volume fell off a lot, just ended up with a lot of house work things that needed doing and some technical issues and then I just fell massively behind volume and had too many non-playing days. Played two days instead of 5 so instead of posting a week graph I'll just do an end of month review.

Month review:

Was quite a tough month overall, volume not where I want it to be and ev also much lower than I'd like, I have done a lot of reviewing and my game seems solid, so I'm not overly concerned the challenge is having too adverse an affect on my wr, but always possible of course. Nonetheless, I keep grinding and see how it goes.

Going to come up with a challenge for this month to keep me on track. Would like to take a 5-10 break over christmas/new year so I'm going to set myself the challenge of once I have matched my hand total from this month I can take a break for rest of the year. So I will try and complete this by the 21st December. So 13 playing days, 86416 hands, so I need to keep the pace of 6650 hands a day, starting today.

Week review:

Caught some heat this week and wr almost back to 0 after 100k hands. 16 playing days done so still quite far behind where I would like to be, even if I have had a few days off more than planned. Goal next week is to hit volume goal 4 days back to back, then do same again on saturday. Mini goal is definitely helping at the moment. Since I set that I I have averaged 6481 hands per day, I need to do 6650 to keep on track, will hit it every day next week and then maybe in the last week I up the volume so I can finish a day earlier and take a break for Christmas on the 19th.

Week review:

Decent volume, mediocre ev. First half of the week just ran terrible, didnt get value deep but bluffs got called, AK and KK into AA quite a few times also. Saturday got side jackpot on bbj and won leaderboard which was a nice boost. Woke up in 5th position, played happy hour and 4 others didn't put in any volume so wasn't even a sweat. Still haven't hit main bbj yet, 1 million hands and counting 😃 For my mini challenge I am on course to finish a day earlier than planned and thursday will be my last day of the year. I have around 32,000 hands still to play. So i just need to average 8000 hands a day and I am golden. I'll update after my last day next week with total results of challenge, and I'll think of how I want to approach the new year also.

nice to see that even on weeks where variance is not on your side, you cleanly end up with breakeven results. not to sound too ro but this has to be a silver lining!

gl op, i'll keep up with your posts and will be rooting for you on teh rails!

Thanks,

yea true, I guess its easy to lose sight of that sometimes when you are used to having a nice winrate that there's something to be said for even in bad periods not actually losing money 😀

That HU hyper graph is insane, especially since it takes place after the games were already "dead"

Rush and cash seems like a brutal grind and kind of "dead" as well, but I'm sure you will find a way to do well.

Awesome thread!

Question from me: how do you mentally stay on track with th expectations of your PT4 graph going down? Do you just ignore this and focus on the post rake back value?

Thanks

Thanks, yea it was pretty nice by the end, think I was up to 9% ev or so which meant you didn't need many fish to print money.

Thanks! I guess my answer to that is just being very overrolled for my stake. I don't have to worry about a bad month or even a bad year so then I'm not going to affected by negative variance particularly. Then I never see money go down by much so I just don't think too much of it. I've played high variance games for 10 years at much higher stakes with mid five figure swings so I guess the answer is just be experienced enough and it doesn't get to you

Week review:

Finish my challenge two days earlier than planned. Decided to do a 24 hour session to end the year, had 17,500 hands to go at the start of the day and played 15.5k. Decided that if I'm slightly short I will still count it since I just played as many as I needed to for where I found myself in the leaderboard. Finished the year with a 2nd place and couldn't have done much more. Played a 21 hour session and first uncatchable so I tapped out. Pretty happy with my effort in December, put in some consistent big volume and looking forward to some rest. Great ending though, caought some great heat and got a few nice donations.

Dang you played more hands in a day than I did all month, what a feat (and positive winrate too!)

End of year challenge review:

So I'm done for the year now, will do some theory but not another hand of poker this year. I'll do a summary of where I stand with my challenge and before the new year will post a plan of how I am going to attack it going forward in the new year. Overall pretty happy with it, the heat I caught at the end has taken me back to pretty much on course. I've upped my volume and consistency significantly without taking the results which I'm very pleased with. Biggest frustration is that I don't just play better. So many mistakes every single day and I still come out with an ok win rate so far so I'll take it. Feel like I'm capable of so much more and hopefully next year I can live up to that. Before the new year I will commit to a road plan for the next hands.

Meant to update on Sunday but just forgot:
