Internet update: got cut off again but seem to be able to get it working on and off but better than nothing.

Finally played some poker.

Yesterday, I lost about $500 at $1/$2 PLO online. Two big pots all in as a massive favourite and lose. Standard and no complaints from me.

Also went to the local casino and played some £1/£2. Not been for a while. Was just messing around and playing for fun one time before going on holiday on Friday to see how the games are. There was one table of £1/£2 and every player was a fish. Nearly every pot was limped pre flop 7 ways. I ended up losing about £100. Hand of the night I call a small raise in the BB with K10o and about 4 people are in. Flop 8 J 6 dd and checks around. Turn off suit Q I bet £22 or something, 1 caller. River is a J so it's 8 J 6 Q J. I bet £75. Chinese fish reg jams on me, I obv fold K high, he shows A2 off suit and owned me lol.

Overall, this is great news. Based on what I saw yesterday for a Tuesday night game, I am more than 100% confident I am the best player in these games and it's not even close. If I can't beat these morons, then god help me and I deserve to work a minimum wage miserable job for the rest of my life.

I am now excited to come back and begin my big poker challenge in March! After I return from holiday on Sunday night, I should have about £25,000 to start taking rolls and souls and £1/£2 every day and night.

Good luck to all.

Glad to hear the games were good and I’m sure you can beat them nicely. I guess your biggest opponent will be yourself, you know if your in a game with a player that can take however many big blinds an hour from you it won’t really matter at all but yeah going over your stakes can bust you instantly or that is what I have found, hope it goes well.

Thank you Gillingham.

Alright so honest confessions first of all. Back from holiday now where I spent way too much money in general and feeling super depressed for no particular reason. Degened off multiple thousands via a combination of the casino on holiday and casino back home and online. I won about $500 playing $0,50/$1 plo then got wrecked in the casino. Not the end of the world as I haven't lost THAT much, but very stupid and I am on big tilt mode because this wasn't part of the plan and is a set back I could have easily avoided.

Since I got back I have been sat here in this chair for several days wasting away and not eating or speaking to anyone. This is not good.

Today I am considering another complete write off to get my head straight and get my **** together properly. I am going to sit here and watch all episodes of The Apprentice and smoke the rest of my weed until I pass out.

Tomorrow I begin my new job, which is working full time self employed for DOPE - the Department of Poker Efficiency.

I will be setting an early alarm for the morning to give myself a reality check. I will wake up, have a shower, get dressed, have breakfast, sit at my desk and start my day like I am going to work a real job. Small things like this should be very simple but for a massive degenerate like me it is something I need to learn and have the self discipline to actually do. Writing it down here is helpful for me.

Right now this is a breakdown of my total net worth:

- £19,000 savings account
- £1,000 pending withdrawal from savings
- £64.33 bank account 1
- £245.46 bank account 2
- 60 euros (about £45) cash

Total: £20,354.79
Goal: £100,000

I still have just over 100 buy ins for £1/£2 live. I have paid all my rent/bills etc. for this month now so have no outgoings other than food and general day to day survival until the end of the month. I am basically down about £4,000 in the last week from holiday, bills, degening etc.

I need to put it behind me now that I had more money and pretend this is ground zero at £20k and the only way is up, and the going up is going to be a slow and steady process. My mindset is blown because of the crazy big swings and wins and losses from roulette and slots. I really need to get used to being ok with winning or losing 1 buy in at poker in 10 hours of grinding and that being it. I used to be able to do this easily. I CAN STILL DO IT IF I TRY AND GET INTO A ROUTINE. I don't need to win or lose 100 buy ins every session just to feel alive.

Tomorrow I am setting an early alarm and I will achieve the following goals with no excuses:

- text family member 1
- text family member 2
- respond to minimum 7 other people messages that are overdue
- call friend 1 offering help to move house
- email old flat regarding getting deposit back
- email Pokerstars requesting call to re-open account
- call iPoker to get account re-opened
- obtain cheap food supplies for the rest of the week
- clean flat
- do 50 or more press ups, 50 or more sit ups, 50 of more squats, lift some weights
- shower and shave face
- eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at normal human being time
- lay out items that I own which can be sold/traded
- exchange 60 euros cash for ££ at the post office
- call and book dentist appointment
- throw away e-cigarette and never buy another one before I require a lung transplant
- go to the casino and play £1/£2 short session and try and book a winning first session

Random points:

- since I put money in government prize draw savings/investments account, I have been valid for 2 months worth of monthly prize draws and have won £0 so far.
- I previously mentioned my back up plan if poker doesn't work out was to apply for jobs in the UAE. I have since been looking at Singapore and this place ticks all of the boxes for me. I could probably land a decent job there at a bank or law firm. I am going to continue investigating this. I think I would rather be in Singapore than the UAE, however Singapore seems very very expensive. I have been once before but only for a few days about 20 years ago.
- I have agreed 4/5 weeks of Mon-Fri work for a friend between mid March - mid April which means I will be brining in about £300 a week which will help to pad my bankroll as I begin my poker challenge.

If anyone has any thoughts or experience of moving to work from the UK (or anywhere else) to either the UAE or Singapore please let me know!

I can start tracking poker from tomorrow in the below format.

POKER TRACKER:

TODAY HOURS PLAYED:
TODAY PROFIT/LOSS:

TOTAL HOURS PLAYED:
TOTAL PROFIT/LOSS:
TOTAL HOURLY:

BANKROLL CURRENT TOTAL: £20,354.79
BANKROLL GOAL: £100,000

good luck all.

Do you have academic qualifications? What fields have you previously worked in?

The job I just left was at a big international firm. I have a degree and 6/7 years experience and a qualification in financial crime/anti money laundering. The UAE and Singapore both appear to have quite a few opportunities in this field and are English speaking countries with these types of jobs. No gambling or drinking in the UAE and it gets ridic hot, however it's tax free and looks decent. Singapore never even crossed my mind until a few days ago and now it sounds ideal other than the cost of living and probably brutal working hours as an employee - I imagine it's not just a 9-5 and a lot more intense (even though I'm used to that and not massively opposed to it providing I somewhat enjoy the job and people I work with). Good weather all year round except for the rain and easy access to other cool places in SEA and can gamble at the two big government owned casinos(?).

I just want to live somewhere safe with good weather and a reasonable quality of life.

The UK is awful now and sorry to say that I hate it. I am sick of walking out of my front door and being harassed by 100 people for spare change and walking around seeing nothing but misery. 8/10 times I enter a Greggs the shop gets robbed by several people right in front of everyone in the middle of the day and no one cares.

There is nothing left for me in the UK anymore.

Even when I went to Amsterdam at the weekend I was SHOCKED at how much nicer it is than the UK. In three days I saw no fat people at all, no littles shits in full matching track suits and man bags with knives and drugs and only about 2 homeless people all trip. The UK city centres and towns are filled up with crack heads and scum bags now.

The chronic gambling addict talking about the state of the population hahaha

imagine being a chronic gambling addict who has held down a full time job their whole life and paid taxes, dealing with all of life's struggles with no help from anyone, and then on top of that having to be surrounded by crack heads and cold weather. yeah I am allowed to complain thank you very much.

literally Google Singapore news right now and top headline is this lol:

in the UK today we have a 12 year old shot dead, bunch of daily stabbings (standard), taxes going up, blah blah blah. same old. least it was a bit sunny today.

Fair enough looks like you have decent options so if the poker goes well it is good, if not there are other things for you to pursue.

Personally although I’ve always found a gamble through poker completely lost interest in roulette where you lose 3% a spin, sports betting where they ban you if you win and fruitys that are set like 10% against you the thrill just completely went for me.

@Norwich, Norwich must be very nice haha and probs is, UK is a little bit rough these days and I say that coming from Gillingham, haha only joking, good luck to the both of yous.

Why did you leave the job? Sounds like you were in a good position and had some good experience on the CV.

I think the picture you paint of the UK is a little exaggerated. No doubt, stuff is expensive and it does feel like we're always being taxed and getting less for our money. But all countries have their downsides and are far from perfect. I don't know where in the UK you're based but I don't share the same experience as you.

Don't think there was any 12 year old shot dead in the UK either. There was a 16 year old gang member who was. Unless you move in those circles then it's highly unlikely you will be caught up in shooting / stabbings.
