2 months / 200 Tournaments
Inspired by the poker show '2 Months 2 Million" where some young poker players tried to collectively win $2 million in 2 months, I am setting a goal to play 200 tournaments over the next 2 months.
I'm a stay at home dad and kids take up much of my time (especially over summer) but at night I'm able to play a couple MTT's (give or take) and I usually play two or three SNG's in the morning. And I try to play just one Heads Up match at micro stakes each day for practice. I will count all three tournament types.
I recently made a decision to cut out cash/ring games and exclusively focus on tournaments. It has been a good move and I've been winning more. I also set a goal in June to build my bankroll from around $750 to $1000 this summer. I've already achieved this.
I'm playing $7 to $25 buy-ins. My expected target is to win $1000 over 200 tournaments (assume average buy-in of $15 x 200 = $3000 total buy-in and anticipated 40% ROI). I began counting 2 days ago and played 6 or 7 tournaments so far. I might also try doing a video log of my sessions with some commentary.

Remember though that tournaments for obv. reasons have even more variance than CG:s. Even if you indeed should have a 40% ROI at those stakes there's more than a slim chance you'll end up going BE or even losing over just 200 tourneys. Plus playing with $-results as a target/goal can increase frustration and tilt when things don't go as expected. Better to mainly focus on your volume goal and how you play.

Here's an SNG I just won. I was already in for 400BB, so I figure I might have 2 live cards and a chance to knock opponent out and win, or fold and pay the SB and end up way behind everyone and still likely needing to gamble any 2 cards to stay alive.

Not hitting the volume I want, but picking up steam in the end of the month. Last couple days or so I am on a 7 tourney win streak (5 MTT min cashes + 2 SNG triple up).
Overall for July I played 14 MTT's, cashed in 11 including 1 final table. ROI - 109%
SNG's I played 11 and cashed 6, and 3 were just bad luck where opponents flopped sets against my higher pocket pair (that doesn't happen too often, especially 3 times in a row). ROI - 20%
HU I broke even (won 3, lost 3).
Total in July for MTT, SNG, HU is 31 tournaments, 64% ITM, 72% ROI.
I agree 40% expected ROI on average might be a bit high. In my past 180 tournaments this year, and as well as with total of 237 tournaments recorded overall I'm at 30% ROI for both. But yes, I am just focusing on volume, and detaching myself from expected outcomes. Poker comes in swings. It's not always going to be so simple. But I've been getting a lot better in the last couple months as I've focused exclusively on tournaments and cut out ring games. I just know how to play really short stacked without cracking under the pressure. Cashing 7 in a row is not luck or variance.
