Results Tracking and Undeserved Optimism
Hi,
Posting here to document my poker journey, track results, and just generally journal my experience.
A bit about me:
-
too tilted still to write the full session report. Got stacked a couple times in absurd fashion (set under set twice).
+5 hours, -1400
am considering suicide but we grind
will not be playing poker until saturday (uni commitments), and likely taking it chill the next week again for the same reasons. Just happened to coincide with a bad session, but I promise Im not done yet! Also realised in my tilt I didn't end up adding the session on to the totals.
Profit since 29 Aug (beginning of challenge)
Hours: 39
Profit: 1725 (lol bcos of small sample size it's halved my profit for the challenge)
As always, finding it difficult to balance poker, and other elements of my life. I don't plan on doing this when I graduate (2 years left) and need to focus on studies/ extracurriculars , and uni is a special time to enjoy with friends, so if some stuff comes up. I will always prioritise that over poker. Beyond a certain point (and I don't think I've nearly reached this point yet), poker seems like it will be unfulfilling long term, and also really capped in terms of my life EV. Gambling a bunch is fun right now, but will it be when I'm 40 and have 2 kids doing it 35 hours a week - I doubt it. I'm trying to make the most of it right now and see how far up the ladder I can go, but also I have to acknowledge when it's time to move on. Poker will always be meaningful to me, but instead as a profitable hobby and passion on the side of an actual job doing something meaningful in the world. I also have plans to (the year I graduate from uni), take a gap 6 months or year off before employment to do a massive poker/travel trip across the US to finish off my journey with a bang. I hear from some of the 5/10 UK regs how good the games can be, and I think it'll be a great way to end off my journey.
By the end of uni (a couple years left), I hope to be one of the best regs in my entire live pool where I live, and I think this goal is somewhat feasible. I already see that I am among the best regs in the 2/5 pool, and solidly winning at 5/10 over my decent sample sizes, but there is absolutely room to improve in the higher games and I hope to climb that ladder in the coming years. But first, I need to stop bluffing into snap calls.
Will keep you guys updated with future sessions
