brokedown palace - from 2nl to the stars (part one)
got depressed over winter and retired from live poker and poker in general. then i came home and was bored and curious i
figured out a new way to play NLHE and am running over the microstakes like tom dwan circa 2004.
you guys wouldn't believe me if i told you. it involves looking at the shape of things.
I finally made it to nl10.
I peaked over $247 3 different times and fell back down.
So I placed a bet on the Super Bowl -- draining my account down to $205 -- Seahawks win and I'd be over $250.
Well, I ran pretty well in my spare time playing and got the account over $250 with the bet still outstanding of course.
Now I'm going to sip some champagne and get a ****job.
I've been playing nl10 for about an orbit and a half. The energy is way different.
I will turbo crush this limit anyways.
We are in phase 2 of the mission in the OP.
Play nl10 for a while and make thousands of dollars.
Who could know how long that would take. I knew phase 1 would be a sinch. I could get humbled for a while at nl10.
Anyway, once again I'd like to welcome you aboard Tuma Airlines.
Please sit back, relax and enjoy the flight.
BR is 266.
I'm getting better at playing poker while tired. This has nagged at me for a long time, for whatever reason I just couldn't concentrate on poker specifically while tired.
Well guys, I'm doing it big now. I've been half asleep for the past 3 days and have been in grind mode and it's been fine.
I was running over another MTT today when the site crashed at the final table. I was chip leader. After a few mintues of not knowing what was happening, the site came back up and I found an extra $30 in my account, I think an ICM chop!
BR 305
A watershed hand just took place at nl10.
In the SB I called down with JT top pair vs 4 street aggression from the BB aiotr. It wasn't so much that I won the hand, or that I made the right read. It was all about my expectations and it being total feel.
On that note, I will surely hit nl10 out of the park.

I am a nl10 MASTER and I've been playing it for 2,000 hands.
thx ice_w0lf. there won't be another update for at least a week.
been battling insomnia the past 2 weeks
i'll give a hint at what is going on:
If the seahawks win the superbowl, i will reflexively be at nl10 😀
Ha what a week
Keep it up!
I won my superbowl bet.
The account has grown to 483 !
Next week we are going for top 5 in leaderboard.
BR > 500
Let's take an intermezzo and enjoy this virtuoso on guitar!
I got doomswitched for 30 minutes earlier today.
I'll never complain about poker. But I want to briefly share how I handled it.
I channeled my inner Phil Ivey and quit down 2 buyins.
played a good hand.
UTG raised
I flatted MP (AKo)
BTN sqz'd large
I said if UTG flats I'm moving in
UTG calls
Hero Jams
BTN snaps
UTG folds
AK vs AT
did not win
Futures bets that you are allowed to cashout are the furthest thing from degeneracy, BTW.
The Tigers now have the best pitching staff in baseball (debateably) AND the best chemistry (without a doubt.)
I was a Chem major in college fwiw.
The basement card game in my dorm was a riot.
It was the classic baiting an amateur moment and I said sign me the **** up.
One guy was Indian and I went on to have several Harold and Kumar esque adventures with.
There were at least 3 asians. One was a beast and showed me some online strats, one was an autistic desheveled engineering major with a great sense of humor, and the last one went by "Q" and owned me several times.
The white guys were chill too. One introduced me to purple weed (we paid $90 for an 8th), one helped me with my relationships, and one was just comically tilted all the time from poker.
One guy dealt me AA in a tourney, then as he was leaving the table he whispered in my ear: "I dealt you AA." indicating he stacked the dack. I didn't like that, but I didn't tell anyone either.
One guy did get caught cheating heavily and got soul owned consequentially. I was so nervous about the confrontation I didn't attend poker that night, but they had a tournament and raised the stakes significantly, took his buyin, then told him to get the ****ing **** out of town.
We took a handful of casino trips and those were always a blast.
It's the one month anniversery of opening this thread.
Let's take a look at where we came from:
12/29 -- Hero deposits $10 from his Bar Mitzvah stash
Hero was extremely determined to play nl2 until ready to move up.
1/13 -- Hero reaches 113 BR and realizes a thread is in order
2/4 -- Hero moves up stakes to nl10 with a 266 BR
2/13 -- Hero balloons up to over 500. After placing $130 in baseball futures bets, hero sits on a cool 392 roll.
Goals:
Make a few thousand at nl10
Begin the ardent process of learning to play better
Buy solver coaching probably
Move up to NL50
May 1st is the deadline to move up stakes.
I'm able to find what feels like good/best play 95% of the time or more at nl10.
One amateur leak I still have is acting too quickly in spots where a think is good.
