My intro to poker - My Grandpa
At 18, my grandpa fresh off of winning his way into the WSOP main event and cashing for 50,000 dollars, started to show me what poker was all about on Pokerstars. We used to spend every weekend playing tournaments, SNGs, satellites, and cash games teaching me the game. I had always been close with him as I had a tumultuous relationship with my dad. But this presented a new opportunity to do something every weekend with him as I learned from him. It didn’t take long before he put me into my my first tournament at a local casino. I remember folding a fullhouse face up being afraid of the flush and not even seeing that I had a full house. It didn’t take long until we I won my first tournament, a satellite into a 1100 tournament at an Indian casino that he had already won a seat into. What happened at this tournament would change my outlook on poker and now looking back be so thankful that we had the opportunities to share these memories together.
Up next if interested, my first bad beat in a major tournament, and seeing him cash for 30,000.
