How many player pools does PokerStars have?

I heard that PokerStars players in Ontario and New Jersey & Michigan are limited to playing with those in the same region. Does this also apply to other countries which have their own domain such as pokerstars.it? Or does the rest of the world form one giant player pool?

The ring fenced pools are typically softer ... at least in the richer western countries. I think it's actually a good thing for the health of the games. Of course this is not good if you're not in one of those countries.
