$25----->25k Bankroll Challenge on Ignition

$25----->25k Bankroll Challenge on Ignition

I am going to be starting with $25 in my Ignition Account and try to spin it up to $25,000.

I will start at 5nl since it is the lowest stake on the site and be playing Ignition Reg tables only.

I will be updating every 5k hands with my progress.

My expectation for each limit is as follows:

Expected Winrates for each limit:

5NL: 30bb/100

10NL: 25bb/100

25NL: 20bb/100

50NL: 15bb/100

100NL: 12bb/100

200NL: 10bb/100

Variance will be a decent factor in a lot of these winrates but these are just ball park numbers. Once I hit 25k I will take a 10buyin shot at 500nl! As far as moving up I'll move up whenever I feel like it, but probably after winning 30-40 buyins at the limit.

There will be no cherry picking here since you can't cherry pick a Bankroll Challenge. Wish me luck (or not) and follow along in this thread.

Any plans to play real stakes? You've been playing peanut stakes for a while now.

Thanks for checking in.

A very interesting phenomenon I noticed in blitz is that fish will open to 2.5 and 2.2 where as on ignition they typically open to 3BB, perhaps when everyone else is opening to 2.5, the fish don’t want to feel singled out and just copies others RFI size? I also forget what ACR default open sizing is, fish likely won’t customize they will just default to what’s there.

From my live perspective this line by utg is not that surprising. Seeing you break it down via a database and HUD is fascinating. A simplification I would use (or heuristic if you like) is that a rec's default is to overprotect, which, in combination with defending v 3bets too wide, creates the 75-75-100 scenario. The river makes the least sense and appears to be a tough spot. I saw a hand yesterday where a rec took a similar line in a 3b pot but on a different texture (J87tt27) and he showed the 2nd nuts.

Yeah so this is why bluff catching can be mentally difficult. Just because someone is over bluffing doesn’t mean you are going to win the majority of the time. You’re supposed to lose more than you win in an overbluffed river spot.

The idea is that you are comparing the call to a fold which is 0EV. If someone is supposed to be bluffing 31% of the time according to their bet sizing and they are bluffing 40% of the time. We will still lose 60% of the time. But our call becomes positive EV when compared to the 0EV action of folding.

So we call but we need to mentally prepare ourself to lose more than we win even though it’s a profitable call.

Yeah, I recalled that hand live because it was a larger OB on the river (closer to 2x). The guy bluff-catching had AJ and clearly took a hit, mentally, when the OOP player rolled over JJ. He probably thought he was only losing to 88 (and was good against a bunch of busted draws). It's an interesting example of live v online, though, since as I was watching the turn and river action my live radar (not necessarily reliable, of course) was telling me the OOP player had it --- live reads reinforced by the fact that over the previous two hours OOP had barely played a hand (similar to you trying to get a read from notable HUD stats over a small sample).

Yeah live intuition is a real thing. You can get more reads off players in live poker because there are more data points.

The ceiling is higher for an expert live player when it comes to reads because of this.

Online we have population reads and then specific reads from our HUD so it’s a strictly Bayesian Approach.

Game flow matters as well but it’s more magnified live because of the slow pace.

It’s the same on YT. There’s two main demographics:

1. The ones who are genuinely there to learn and ask questions.

2. The ones who are there to try and correct you and find mistakes.

Both subsets serve a purpose and make you a better player though so it’s all good.

I find that they overstab turn when checked to and overfold to turn barrel in this configuration so slow playing nuts is nice on turn, plus in solver middle set is already slowplaying frequently in 3bp oop.

Yeah those are good MDA reasons.

I was referring to theory since QQ 100% checks OTT.

AA does as well and TT is high frequency check all for similar reasons imo.

I' not sure of the reason but curious if we plan to c/r or c/c? With AA, QQ, and TT

by J.E.C k

I' not sure of the reason but curious if we plan to c/r or c/c? With AA, QQ, and TT

Good question.

I answer my initial quesiton in tomorrow's video.

But it's interesting because once you realize what hands we turn into 0EV bluff catchers by our xr it becomes really clear how we play the sets differently. Our turn XR makes Ax hands (top pair) 0EV.

So what do you think we xr and what do you think we call if we are picking some sets to xr and some sets to call after we X turn?

Good spot to show where you never bluff catch. You either fold on the monotone 4 to flush turn vs BXB or you jam. Jamming is better vs the low WWSF types as they will fold 2nd/3rd nuts.

When your opponent makes an aggressive action OTT and then the nuts change OTR and they still are aggressive. It's a good heuristic that the spot is overbluffed.
