A Bankroll Challenge: NL2 to NL100

As a poker player, we always face the "you are just a gambler" comment, so I will probe with this challenge that embarking on a poker carrer is both an exciting and strategic endeavor. My goal? To climb from NL2 to NL100 while navigating the nuances of bankroll management and strategic adjustments along the way. Here’s how I plan to tackle it:

Where will I play?

For the challenge I will play in pokerstars ans I will try to play mostly in zoom tables, this is due to the limit of 4 tables at most set by PS.

Bankroll Management: An Aggressive Approach

Given the rake structure at the micro-stakes, I’ve decided to adopt a slightly aggressive bankroll management strategy. This approach will allow me to move up the stakes more quickly while managing risk effectively. Here’s the structure I’ll follow:

1. My strategy
- I will build an adecuate bankroll for NL100, but I´ll start with a few buy-ins 35 to be exact

2. Taking Shots
- I will allocate 5 buy-ins for taking shots at each level up to NL50.
- If the shot doesn’t go well and I lose the 5 buy-ins, I’ll drop back down and rebuild the bank.

3. Adjusting for Higher Stakes (NL50 and Beyond)
- At NL50, I will double the number of buy-ins allocated for taking shots, transitioning to a 10 buy-in shot strategy. This adjustment accounts for the increased skill level and reduced rake impact at higher stakes.

The Shot-Taking Chart

Here’s the shot-taking chart I’ll follow:

This structure ensures that I’m not only prepared to handle variance but also making strategic decisions about when to move up or down.

Challenge Objectives

1. Reach NL100 with 100 Buy-Ins: The ultimate goal is to build a solid bankroll of 100 buy-ins for NL100, ensuring I’m well-capitalized to continue playing professionally.

2. Documenting the Journey: I’ll track my progress, sharing key insights, hands, and adjustments made along the way. This transparency is not only for accountability but also to provide value to others embarking on similar challenges.

3. Adapting Along the Way: No plan survives first contact with reality. I’ll remain flexible, adjusting my approach based on results, meta-game changes, and personal performance.

This journey is as much about learning and growth as it is about reaching NL100. Let’s see where this challenge takes us!

I´ll also post every 20k hands or so, here is my initial bankroll
