£10,000 - £100,000 Bankroll Challenge

£10,000 - £100,000 Bankroll Challenge

Dear 2p2,

BACKGROUND

In 2024:

- I made a thread here with a goal of being out of debt and having £25,000 bankroll before 2025. I lost my password and stopped updating a long time ago. Old thread: https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/174/p...
- I did not think I would be able to achieve this goal, however I actually did make it to £25,000 and I have paid off all of my debts except for about £1,000.
- Unfortunately, I made some bad degenerate decisions and now I am back down to around £10,000 bankroll.
- Considering I was about -£15,000 in debts around 2 years ago and £0 in the bank and I have worked my way out of it, I need to remember that right now things are way better than they were.

THE SITUATION

Right now:

- As of today, we have a new thread and a new goal of starting with £10,000 and making it to £100,000.
- My current bankroll is £8,000 in an investment account which I can withdraw at anytime (but takes 3 days to process) and make a very small monthly return (but my money feels safer here than in my bank account i.e. I can't deposit £10,000 in 5 minutes and lose it all playing roulette), and about £750 in my bank account. I get paid about £2,500 on Jan 31st and after my end of month bills, I will be left with about £10,000 total on Feb 1st, which is when the challenge will officially begin.
- I am doubtful as to whether or not I am a winning poker player right now. I do not think I have enough self control to consistently win at online poker cash games which is what I used to win at. I am not skilled in MTTs. I think I can beat £1/£2 live poker. This is where my mindset is starting at in this part of my poker journey. It is a bit scary because back in the day I knew I could grind low stakes and print money then take shots higher but not sure right now.
- My current job ends at the end of February and I will receive my final pay check of around £1,000. After that, I am all alone with no income.
- I am relocating at the end of January to cheaper accommodation of around £400 total per month.
- I am hopeful to get a small amount of extra money back from: rental deposit after leaving current flat (paid £625 lets see what I get back), internet box (£40?), monthly savings interest (£?), sell random items I have like screen and clothes (£100?), potentially some tax back due to not working end of Feb, March or April (and think I have overpaid so far this year).
- I am scared because about a month ago I lost a lot of money being a degenerate online gambling and it's going to be a little difficult winning that money back and staying in control.

SHORT TERM GOALS - PHASE 1

Phase 1 starts right now and is the most important phase. The reason it is so important is because if phase 1 fails, there will be no more phases.

Phase 1 involves: self discipline, self control and patience. What I need to do is stay strong to survive my final month or so of real life 9-5 work without self sabotaging anything which would massively negatively impact everything I plan to do.

From now until Feb 1st I will not be playing any poker or doing any other types of gambling.

On Feb 1st, I can then make a deposit and play with the following rules: Only play online tournaments, with a maximum buy in of $10, and a daily total stop loss of $25. This means in February it is impossible for me to lose more than $750, and that would require me cashing in 0 tournaments (which is very possible considering I suck at them). The goal here is not to make any money, but simply to re-wire my brain into poker mode. I need to be able to say that I can sit down and play well for multiple hours and have a solid mindset whether I win or lose. If I win any money, great, if I lose $750 but remain focused and stick to my plan, that will go down as a big success, in preparation for the next phases.

So, until Feb 1st my boring schedule looks roughly like this: Wake up, go to work, spend as little money as possible, rinse and repeat.

LONG TERM GOALS - POKER

1) Goal: £100,000
- Current: £8,750

LONG TERM GOALS - LIFE

1) Increase body weight to 90kg.
2) Take a nice holiday in the sunshine.
3) Play the WSOP Main Event.
4) Go to a football World Cup 2026 game.
5) Buy a property.

PLAN B & PLAN C

B - If my total bankroll / net worth drops to £7,500 I will get another easy / part time job and try and continue to succeed with Plan A.
C - If my total bankroll / net worth drops to £5,000 I will most likely quit and get a full time job and this is over.

This initial post seems slightly chaotic (apologies), but I need to get it posted now to keep myself in check at the moment.

Unlike my last last thread, I intend to keep going with this one, win or lose, until I make it or tap out.

All being well, next post will arrive on Feb 1st and it will be time for some MTT grinding.

Stay strong, thank you and good luck all.

Subscribed, you could try studying poker and playing on trainers until the playing poker phase starts. good luck

I remember the first thread, well done with that challenge it was a hard one to turn around.

When you say you can beat live games do you have any available to you to play in this challenge?

And good idea with the investment account and good luck with this thread look forward to following.

It's usually pretty decent and think runs everyday. I will hopefully be going on some trips around the country following whatever tournaments are going on. Thank you for the good luck.

"GLGL!" - thank you.

UPDATE

I have already failed because I decided to make some small sports bets which escalated into playing roulette and grinding slot machines. Yesterday on Friday I played Big Bass slots from about 3pm to 1am non stop and not going to lie had lots of fun. It's quite amazing I remember the first time I went to Vegas when I was 21 and saw everyone sitting down playing slots for hours and thinking they were losers. Now I love slots lol. I had never played slots until about 2 years ago when I started getting monthly £500 deposit bonus on Party Poker for £500 deposit get £500 free play. Grinding £5 slots until busto or make the ridiculous wagering requirements. Normally I would just lose the £500 bonus money and leave it or do something else but one time I couldn't lose and played slots for about 24 hours straight and won £14,000 and cleared all of the wagering requirements in one session. I cashed out the next day and then Party Poker emailed me and said I will no longer receive any monthly bonuses/promotions and reduce my maximum bet per spin to something small. Probably been semi-hooked on slots ever since. Anyway, just a funny story.

I also played some on Thursday. I think Thursday was in for £600 out for £1,100.

I would consider last nights degenerate victory some justice on what happened at the start of the month when I got wrecked. On Friday in for £500 out for £4,500.

I think my current total bankroll is now about £5,000 bank/pending withdrawal and £8,000 savings = £13,000.

Tomorrow = no work but pack to move and clear and no gambling. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday = working. Thursday = work then move house. Friday = working.

Saturday = get paid £2,500.

£13,000 + £2,500 = £15,500. Maybe I will spend £250 on life before pay day so £15,250. Then minus all out-going of approx. £1,000 = £14,250. Minus £500 of a holiday I just booked with some friends for end of Feb = £13,750.

I have slightly overestimated some costs for worst case scenarios so I would say by February 1st once I've sorted everything I should have: £14,000.

By March first if I am careful I could be starting with £15,000 which would be a lot more comfortable than initially expected when I made the thread. Being at just slightly over £10 ,000 did not feel great.

Rambling now and almost just deleted all of this but will post it anyway seen as we are here now.

Don't be an idiot good luck stay strong.

Playing 600£ of slots when you have a life roll of 10k and no stable job. Gawd damn. A true gentleman.

Good thing slots went your way.

I see this will be fun 😀 Following and good luck!

I did indeed get very lucky there and quite frankly if I had kept on losing who knows what may have happened.

So I forgot out before my last cash out above I used some of the spare changes from the winnings to make some more sports bets. All of them lost, obvz. I lost £280.

So I find a new website and deposit £220 for £500 total.

Big Bass strikes hot again and after playing for just 9 minutes and not many £1.50 spins, I hit a £701.50 win (467 X on £1.50 bet). Random screen shots in no particular order below for fun.

Anyway, I made a few more small stupid sports bets to keep me from not gambling for the rest of the week now.

I already got my cashouts and have instantly put £3,500 into my savings account so that is now at £11,500 and rest is in the bank.

Potentially looking at starting February with just under £15,000.

Finally can play poker again as of this Saturday!
