Range talk
Hi im curious as to the significance if any of the concept that a players preflop range doesnt include certain cards below a threshold such as utg in 6max wouldnt open JQo..?
Also is there a term for this ?? My reasoning is as follows: i basically decided it seems to make sense to only call raises preflop if my hand is within the range of the rfi
So each hand is determined by who opens and from what position…

Try searching for the "gap concept." The idea is that you generally need to continue with a stronger range than the opening range you are facing, so yes the opener's position and range matter.
you should call raises preflop if you have enough equity against their range to justify the investment into the pot. (times some magic number that accounts for future play)
