I would personally have absolutely no problem with a completely "fake news" story bringing Trump down. Would be a fitting end. There's nothing that says your side has to play by the rules when the other side repeatedly cheats.

this already happened a lot of times, yes we know there are no problems among democrats doing that.
Which is reasonable as winning doing anything not specifically prohibited is ethical.
Problem for now is that it doesn't seem to work particularly well against Trump but maybe it could if the lies are crafted to target him in a different way than in the past.
