Covid-19 Discussion
Has the wisdom and courage to realize that the cure has now become worse than the disease. It's time to open up. Stop moving the ball.
Hospital systems have not been overwhelmed.
Ventilators are not in shortage.
Treatments are being developed.
There is no cure or vaccine. This is not going away for four years.
The devastation of the cure:
Suicide rates picking up.
Massive economic devastation which causes depression, anxiety, obesity, again increase in suicide rates and directly impacts poorer economic areas.
Alcohol sales up 51%.
Domestic Abuse on the uprise
Child abuse on the uprise.
Hospitals that do not have COVID related issues are forced to lay off doctors and nurses as there are not enough patients to economically support it, meaning they won't have the staff to deal with COVID outbreaks.
Michael Avenatti gets released from prison
We all did our part. We sheltered (here in Pennsylvania for 5 weeks already).
Open the office buildings. Open the hair saloons. Get rid of stupid mask laws.
Continue to monitor outbreaks and in areas hospital systems become threatened, reenact tougher guidelines.
LET'S GET BACK TO WORK!
And stop shaming people that want common sense solutions. Waiting for a vaccine is stupid and unpractical.
its not hindsight. its common sense that an abundance of caution would have made sense.
the way I look at, as a deeply stupid person as you have indicated, is that masking had almost no downside at all so with a novel virus whose transmission was not understood then the leader of infectious disease should have used more caution and advocated masks.

OK, your opinion, for what it is worth (zero) is noted.
It looks like you then agree that:
1) masks actually do work
2) Fauci didn't lie, he just wasn't cautious enough.
Fair enough. I don't agree with 2, but I understand why one might think that. At least you got 1 right.
no he def lied. he knew they worked or there was a good chance they worked on some level. then he did politics. hes the head of the agency not bc of his medical or public health ability, but rather bc of his politics. he did politics.
I am quite sorry to burst your bubble on your liberal hero who caused a ton of death during Covid and during the AIDS crisis but whaddyagonnado. for some of us facts matter.
As demonstrated above, no. There was a reason for what he said. You merely argued he wasn't cautious enough.
I'm sorry to burst your bubble but I don't give two craps about Fauci. He's not my hero. He's just doing his job. And you aren't bursting any bubbles by just stating your opinion that he wasn't cautious enough and then asserting he lied with no evidence. Maybe it's your bubble that needs bursting here because no one is impressed with that.
You talking about Trump now?
Certainly not you, as I've shown.
Incidentally, I'm done with this conversation. Have fun.

itt thread I learned that as long as I have a good reason, its not lying! the liberal mind is indeed amazing.
sorry to browser but I was real nice to this dude and he insulted me in every single post. so he gets the liberal lol.
I'm most interested in whether he tries to pass off Fauci saying that double-masking is more effective than a single mask as "recommending wearing three masks" or if he just runs away for awhile and then comes back and pretends nothing happened.
I'm guessing the latter.
Yeah, sorry it was 2 masks not three. I misremembered.

It would be comical if it wasn't so sad. Literally from the second sentence in the source you provided:
"The recommendation is not that you have to wear (two masks)," Fauci, chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden, told TODAY's Savannah Guthrie on Thursday.
And just for good measure, from the second source you provided:
"Although the Centers for Disease Control has not recommended double masking..."
So, do you have a source for Fauci recommending wearing more than one mask? Because...those ain't it.

Glad I didn't bet. Turns out it was the first. The double/triple thing is marginally forgivable as hyperbole, but he didn't do anything like recommend it. He just explained why he and others were doing it when asked. And the answer is simple. It's more effective.
Not rocket science. For most of us.
Dr. Fauci: Double-masking makes ‘common sense’ and is likely more effective
From the 2nd link. Sounds like he is recommending it to me.
I'm not sure who you should blame your illiteracy on, but probably someone. Yourself is a good place to start. Literally BOTH of your sources explicitly said it's not being recommended.
Well, if you go on TV and say wearing 2 masks makes common sense and is more effective, then demonstrate how to wear 2 masks I would call that recommending them.
I mean ffs. Do you enjoy being deliberately obtuse or what?

Oh I realize that you are desperate to not admit you were wrong. That's fine.
But we can approach it like this. Here are some simple yes/no questions.
Did Fauci explicitly recommend wearing multiple masks?
Did Fauci explictly say he is NOT recommending wearing multiple masks (as in go out of his way to make sure it was understood that he was not recommending it)?
Given the answers to the first two questions, should you be upset (unprompted and out of nowhere) YEARS LATER over Fauci recommending wearing three masks?
I mean ffs.
LOL
So, idiot Fauci goes on TV to state unequivocally that 2 masks are better than one and to demonstrate how to put them on and wear them. Then he says he's not recommending them. No wonder people have trouble believing a word that comes out of his mouth.
What a ****ing idiot.
LOL

You. Sure. Are.
my god I love watching the desperate flailing in response to the cognitive dissonance.

Like I said before...
sorry bobo, despite brian being a clown, what he said did actually happen
you guys are so swift to dismiss that nutjob that you're forgetting that broken clocks are still correct twice a day

The nation's top medical adviser suggested recently that wearing two masks is better than one.
"So if you have a physical covering with one layer, you put another layer on, it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective," Dr. Anthony Fauci said Monday on NBC's "Today" show. "That's the reason why you see people either double masking or doing a version of an N95."

Um, hello? You realize he didn't say Fauci said it was better. He said Fauci recommended it. Fauci explicitly said he is not recommending it. Do you see the difference or was this just satire and I missed it?

Right. Fauci said two was better than one but didn't officially recommend it, just as Brian said in his most recent post (after his posts saying Fauci recommended three, then that Fauci recommended two). No disagreement there.
But really, I was mostly having a little fun with this most recent post.
