In other news

In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there are important, interesting or just plain weird things happening out there and a group of people can find these better than one.

I thought I would test with a thread for linking general news articles about "other news" and discussion. Perhaps it goes into the abyss that is page 2 and beyond, but it is worth a try.

Some guidelines:
- Try to find the "clean link", so that links to the news site directly and not a social media site. Avoid "amp-links" (google).
- Write some cliff notes on what it is about, especially if it is a video.
- It's not an excuse to make outlandish claims via proxy or link extremist content.
- If it's an editorial or opinion piece, it is polite to mark it as such.
- Note the language if it is not in English.
- There is no demand that such things be posted here, if you think a piece merits its own thread, then make one.

I've some sympathy with that view

and countries with leaders facing arrest warrants for war crimes / crimes against humanity

by legitimate courts sure (IE courts only made up of countries which have full liberal values in their constitutions).

the opinion of any court composed and formed by countries which have horrendous anti liberal values would matter nothing at all right?

they were repressing women for years and you didnt have anything to say aobut it. they have dismissed a bunch of women judges and you had nothing to say about it. its not surprising that performative subservience to Westerners is when you jump in.

I didn't what? you might be mistaking me for someone else.

The stuff about China and the drones makes it seem psy-opy fwiw.

You can , but no policy should be based on that.

I am not proposing any action by law enforcement by making educated guesses.

You are anytime you try to motivate a regulation because "climate change".

Not the same thing.

You should not be allowed to use the state unless you can prove beyond reasonable doubt it's indispensable to do so.

While you should be allowed to wildly speculate, with absolutely no legal repercussions to anyone, about whatever you think is going to happen "because the climate"

Well you do love and do say the market tell the truth right ?
Well all the insurance companies are rising a lot their

prices for coverage due to higher risk of climate destruction ( flood, wind/tornado, fires, etc) and in many places now today they even stop entire coverage of certain risk , putting all the strain on home owners ….

I wonder why they do this .
I mean there jobs and profitability is only about knowing what « real » risk are aren’t they ?
I guess some industries just has to ignore political narrative and actually uses what the data actually says …..

Extreme weather events are making it hard to insure homes in certain parts of the US. What happens when insurance companies simply stop insuring?

When Frances Acuña received her flood insurance quote for the coming year, she got a shock: it would be increasing from $450 to $1,893 (£355 to £1,490). "I couldn't pay it," she says. "And so now I don't have flood insurance. But I don't feel alone as most of my neighbours don't have flood insurance either."
Acuña, a single mother-of-three, lives in Dove Springs in south-east Austin, Texas, an area that had, until recently, escaped the mass gentrification seen in the rest of the city. That is changing, says Acuña. The astronomical rise in flood insurance, coupled with an affordable housing crisis, is pushing many historic Latino communities out of the area.

In 2018, the National Weather Service updated its flood models to reflect 25 years' worth of flood data. Thousands of houses in Austin that were previously expected to flood only once in every 500 years were upgraded to a risk of one in every 100 years.

The hike in insurance costs in Austin mirrors a crisis unfolding across America – along both coasts, and through the Midwest

In 2022, insurance firm AllState paused selling new home and condo insurance policies in California.

In 2023, State Farm, one of the US' biggest insurance providers, announced it too would stop selling new home insurance policies in California.…

It was the latest insurer to pull back from the state, which has been hit by devastating wildfires and floods in recent years, and has the ever-looming threat of a major earthquake. Meanwhile, in Florida, Farmers Insurance discontinued its own-brand home insurance in the state, joining at least a dozen insurers who had already left. "This business decision was necessary to effectively manage risk exposure," a Farmers Insurance spokesperson told the BBC.

It goes on and on in the article ….

But yeah I guess you think insurance companies are leftish now …

So again it’s ok to makes « educational guess » with people who knows absolutely **** and just speculate on Twitter but don’t make those educational guess (or give credibility to them) from experts in many fields where it’s something you don’t believe in , then we switch methods that contradicts your narrative …..
As usual .

Ps: see how financially great climate changes are for « people in the north » ?
They can’t even insured their houses anymore in some part for those « inexistant climate changes damages /risk…

An example of what should completly disqualify a government of a country for having ANY relationship with any western country:

the "moderate" syrian terrorist leader of the rebels who "liberated" the country refuses to give his hand to Germany foreign minister (she is a woman), while giving it to the french foreign minister (a man)

https://x.com/fratotolo2/status/18752202...

This should automatically lead to an interruption of ALL relationship, the inscription of that person, and his "party

So you don’t agree with freedom of religion ?
Of course when it’s something you don’t agree , let’s exit everything and condemn all of what it comes from it ?

The irony ?
https://www.forbes.com/sites/isabeltogoh...

President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech was overshadowed by a series of silent snubs from both sides of the aisle, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ripping up her copy of his speech and Trump refusing to shake her hand in two ultimate symbols of discord between Democrats and Republicans as the president’s impeachment trial reaches its conclusion.

Again double standard , when it’s something u like then it’s ok …..
True freedom huh ? Lol

Ps: the funny thing I agree with you but I’m not claiming myself a libertarian and a freedom Fighter …

This is the reported manifesto written by Sgt. Livelsberger that the FBI's saying's authentic.

Another point to make is the FBI or anyone could be planting disinformation onto the public to sell whatever the next narrative up their sleeves is.

"In case I do not make it to my decision point or on to the Mexico border I am sending this now. Please do not release this until 1JAN and keep my identity private until then.

First off I am not under duress or hostile influence or control. My first car was a 2006 Black Ford Mustang V6 for verification.

What we have been seeing with "drones" is the operational use of gravitic propulsion systems powered aircraft by most recently China in the east coast, but throughout history, the US. Only we and China have this capability. Our OPEN location for this activity in the box is below.

China has been launching them from the Atlantic from submarines for years, but this activity recently has picked up. As of now, it is just a show of force and they are using it similar to how they used the balloon for sigint and isr, which are also part of the integrated coms system. There are dozens of those balloons in the air at any given time.

The so what is because of the speed and stealth of these unmanned AC, they are the most dangerous threat to national security that has ever existed. They basically have an unlimited payload capacity and can park it over the WH if they wanted. It's checkmate.

USG needs to give the history of this, how we are employing it and weaponizing it, how China is employing them and what the way forward is. China is poised to attack anywhere in the east coast

I've been followed for over a week now from likely homeland or FBI, and they are looking to move on me and are unlikely going to let me cross into Mexico, but won't because they know I am armed and I have a massive VBIED. I've been trying to maintain a very visible profile and have kept my phone and they are definitely digitally tracking me.

I have knowledge of this program and also war crimes that were covered up during airstrikes in Nimruz province Afghanistan in 2019 by the admin, DoD, DEA and CIA. I conducted targeting for these strikes of over 125 buildings (65 were struck because of CIVCAS) that killed hundreds of civilians in a single day. USFORA continued strikes after spotting civilians on initial ISR, it was supposed to take 6 minutes and scramble all aircraft in CENTCOM. The UN basically called these war crimes, but the administration made them disappear. I was part of that cover-up with USFORA and Agent [Redacted] of the DEA. So I don't know if my abduction attempt is related to either. I worked with GEN Millers 10 staff on this as well as the response to Bala Murghab. AOB-S Commander at the time. [Redacted] can validate this.

You need to elevate this to the media so we avoid a world war because this is a mutually assured destruction situation.

For vetting my Linkedin is Matt Berg or Matthew Livelsberger, an active duty 18Z out of 1-10 my profile is public. I have an active TSSCI with UAP USAP access."

We should cut ANY AND ALL RELATIONSHIPS with people who don't bend the knee to our interpretation of human values COMPLETLY.

No ifs, no buts, especially not with countries which don't have oil in abundance or the like (compromising when it's necessary for our survival is still fine). 0 Tolerance diplomacy, you either execute exactly as we order, or you disappear from the world trade and migration map entirely.

When I got to this point I leaned towards satire, but it's Luciom, so...who knows. And really, who cares?

bobo what he is advocating is literally extending our north korea and cuba policies (which are for the very exact reasons he stated) to extremist islamic countries

it only seems like a crazy and hateful plan because this site is a circle jerk of virtue signaling - it's actually very mainstream and normal from a policy standpoint

i say this as someone who disagrees with our our isolation of cuba and nk

The ICJ is recognsied as legitimate by just about all the west. It's the usual suspects who dont recognise it.

So you raise a good idea and maybe we should cut off ties with all those in such extreme breach of our values. There is a solid counter argument of diplomocy, realpolitik etc but it's worth considering.

If he's genuinely advocating for that, I'll say that I tend to be quite literal in my reading of people's posts, so I'd disagree with the extremes he's taken in that quoted portion, and I assumed they weren't intended to be hyperbolic when he takes the time to capitalize COMPLETELY and then doubles down with "exactly as we order". Perhaps you might argue it's a distinction without a difference, but I don't believe that even the US goes to that extreme with Cuba or North Korea.

Now if it's satire, it makes much more sense, and something I might find common ground with - the US could use some work on those relationships, or lack thereof (especially Cuba IMO). But as I say, who can be sure here?

its def satire but what you dont realize is who he is actually satirizing.

afaik we don't with NK because they have the atomic bomb (that puts you back in the "for survival it's ok to compromise")

North Korea has many times threatened the U.S. right ?
Cuba had nuclear missiles almost opretional once and they are not U.S. allies and are communist .

We are talking about responding with the « same » political threat, as you say , with a inoffensive regime for not shaking hands with a woman ?
Is shaking hands a national security threat ?

And it comes from a guy (Luciom) who defends with every fibre of his body is for freedom .
And agreeing if the people wants it , then its fine !
(Using it to defend is far far far right view of the world …😉 .

It I guess when it’s a political ideology he doesn’t like , then it just not acceptable for him ….

Again I’m not saying I wouldn’t do the same but I’m not saying I’m a libertarian and a freedom fighter and saying extreme political are ok when it’s fine with view of the world I agree with, like he always does ….

What is the inoffensive regime that refuses to shake hands with a woman that you are imaging Lucium is talking about? Can you give any examples.

I actually find this funny from a guy like Luciom holding that extreme punishing view about a country « leaders refusing to shake hands with a woman « for religion purpose
( while it’s ok for religion purpose to prevent woman to decide on their choice to abort or not …..I wonder what’s worst between a handshake or no freedom to abort [in many cases since conception] just for religion reasons)
But those « side of the coins » had no problem black not using washrooms , etc during the segregate years just for hateful reasons….
Are we to believe the republicans today being revolted by that lack of shake hands would hold the same stance for those same republicans being for segregation ?
Obviously not ….
Don’t make believe the U.S. south of the 1950 for example weee worst then those Muslim of today not shaking hands for religion purpose ?

What is the reason for religion to be acceptable policies from many religious people ?
Ah yes religion is good but segregation should be bad ?
And yet the response aren’t similar at all when u compare both situation …

Ps: ah yes I forgot , like religion, our religion is good and there’s is bad so it’s ok we have as well laws that dramatically reduce woman free choice for their body , we are in the good side shrug….

Wait a minute, I've been assured that nazi and facism were leftist values, and left actually was winning last 40 years at least and EU was destroyed by leftist policies.

Are you saying the contrary now?

Fascism always results in confusion because at its heart is drive out or kill all the people here who are too different to me, and that’s an incoherent mindset.

Yes leftist values are making a comeback after a long hiatus which brought about the "economic miracle" of (west) germany and Italy in the 50s and 60s, when rightwing values ruled the land.

Leftism is inexorably creeping back , having changed face, appearing more benign or even "something else entirely" to gullible observers, but with the same atrocious collectivist totalitarian aims, and that's destroying the EU.

Mask went off with militarily enforced lockdowns though

Luciom,
What do you think of the president of Argentina? Seems like some pretty bold policies.

Sorry but why should we pander to a currently Islamist regime who are already making changes to the Syrian education curriculum, if they refuse to shake hands with a woman because she's a woman?
That's disgusting behaviour. I disagree with Luciom on pretty much everything but I don't think he's being extreme by saying we shouldn't have anything to do with regimes who view women as apparently second class citizens and refuse to engage with western representatives due to their sex.

Not sure why this is even an issue.
I hope the Syrian people rise up and oust these theocratic and anyone pro freedom should think the same.
