In other news
In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there are important, interesting or just plain weird things happening out there and a group of people can find these better than one.
I thought I would test with a thread for linking general news articles about "other news" and discussion. Perhaps it goes into the abyss that is page 2 and beyond, but it is worth a try.
Some guidelines:
- Try to find the "clean link", so that links to the news site directly and not a social media site. Avoid "amp-links" (google).
- Write some cliff notes on what it is about, especially if it is a video.
- It's not an excuse to make outlandish claims via proxy or link extremist content.
- If it's an editorial or opinion piece, it is polite to mark it as such.
- Note the language if it is not in English.
- There is no demand that such things be posted here, if you think a piece merits its own thread, then make one.
There's no disconnect, apart from the one between you and reality 😀
What problems does it fix exactly?
You are funnier by the minute.
I imagine Lucia waking up, coffee in hand and telling himself in front of his mirror :
This is gonna be a great day, I'm gonna go through all my tabs and own these noobs
The best part is that he doesn’t even recognize that if this forum lived in luciomtopia he would have been the first one killed for his extreme minority views.
The non sequitur to end all non sequiturs.
What has inviting a stranger to live in your house to do with inviting people into your country into their own house?
Your country is a co-owned property, co-owned by it's citizens. Every square meter of public land is public in the sense of "the property of the citizen", not "the property of humanity".
You are voting as if among condo owners you wanted to take people from outside to sleep in the condo gardens and use the condo pool.
And you do that because you aren't actually living there even if you own an apartment in the condo building, so you don't care if others use the garden (and they will later vote according to your preference so you gain power).
But if it was a garden you sleep in front of, you wouldn't want them.
That's the same as allowing people in the country because you are protected against their nefarious costs ("negative externalities") while you benefit from their activities in various ways (you rent them homes, you employ them and so on). People who co-own the country with you who are paying the costs (higher housing costs, higher criminality, lower civic sense, lower wages for the low-skilled and so on) disagree, and you insult them and tell them they are fascists lol.
That is a bit funny to me .
It’s not that bessent is necessarily wrong in theory about minimum wages but yet for taxes purpose it doesn’t apply and see the purpose of state wide and local disappeared ?
That doesn’t make sense to me .
Both elements should Be tied to the hip .
It’s about income hence they should follow the same factors ….
What the left and liberals who are pushing to raise minimum wage to a "living wage" don't understand is a lot of minimum wage workers are 16 year old kids and students living at home and don't require a living wage. They don't need to make 50K/yr.
If someone needs to make a "living wage", then they should find a better job other than Burger King, Wendy's, McDonald's or Chipolte.
"a lot"
Can you be more precise? Actual facts?

Isn't what you are doing here 24/7?

Labor force participation for under 19 is at all time lows minus the Trump 2020 disaster.
BREAKING NEWS: Just like I predicted months and years ago, Georgia just suspended all poultry sales because someone came down with "bird flu". Also, what a coincidence, the lame duck administration just a few days ago gave Moderna $600 Million dollars to rush the "bird flu vaccine". Just a short time ago it was supposed to be nearly impossible for humans to catch it but now it's almost at the stage of another plandemic.
Quoted from Fox News so you can have a friendly source
Georgia officials have confirmed the state's first case of bird flu, halting all in-state poultry exhibitions, shows, swaps, meets, and sales until further notice.
Literally nothing about that seems unreasonable to me, but you do you, (redacted to avoid being banned)

nailed it
The non sequitur to end all non sequiturs.
What has inviting a stranger to live in your house to do with inviting people into your country into their own house?
Either you support the federal government placing strict IQ/skills testing on rurals and other undesirables being allowed to breed or you should be opening up any spare rooms you have to Trump supporters

a) You don't know how I vote, assuming I vote at all.
b) As with all impotent keyboard fascists you believe in a government wielding unlimited violence against disloyal citizens, and are therefore not to be taken seriously by anyone apart from the small number of low self-esteem nodding puppet-fools who slavishly follow you around.
c) In your puerile analogy I wouldn't want people sleeping in the garden but extensions to the apartment complex to be built for the new arrivals.
It's not complicated really. People living in the US with its enormous land resources, attractive climate and an unparalleled ability to house people fleeing wars and oppression, as well as people wanting to make a better life, the very reasons the US was established in the first place or so we are told, oppose immigration because they are proud to pull up the drawbridge behind them.
Those people exist everywhere of course, but there's little excuse in a country with the low population density of the US.
ok jal, let's play your game, when you bring in immigrants with no resources, skills, or support networks then what magically happens when they come in?

As usual disconnect from reality ?

And fwiw the cost wouldn’t be that great because he target like 10-15% of the most needed population .

Ps: rising 7.50$ to 10$ for example is far from being 50k yearly salaries …

I thought you said I was the one with a disconnect from reality
min. wage is 16.50. If someone works 5 hours over time (many work a lot more) it's already 45K/yr.

Min wage considerations fail to understand what the people a little over min wage currently will think.
It's not only about raising someone from x to y. It's everyone who currently makes $3o more than the worst possible salary because he does a little more , a little better, than them, asking ... Ok so if the random utter bullshit person who just walked in with no qualification or experience makes 10, I have to make 13-15 not 11 right?
And it escalates to the WHOLE paycheck structure.
You sure they wouldn't want those jobs at the salary those jobs would clear the market at, absent all immigration? If cutting grass in rich people houses pays 18/hour some people will take that. And if no one does it would pay 20, ,22, 25, At some price Americans would do it.
And that would be the actual real cost of it absent subsidies for the rich to import poor people who cost taxpayers in welfare massively throughout their lives

Most important question is what happens to their kids that because of an absurd reading of the constitution, are considered "Americans" from day one after birth.
I don't recall calling you a fascist (I might have done that if we discussed COVID policy but I don't recall conversations with you specifically about that).
I don't recall calling jalfrezi a fascist either, even if I disagree a lot with him on policy.
Or rococo, which is one of the smartest people I ever interacted with online in 20+ years. Or ecriture, which is very smart as well but has huge biases (at least in writing) to admit stuff.
