In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there are important, interesting or just plain weird things happening out there and a group of people can find these better than one.
I thought I would test with a thread for linking general news articles about "other news" and discussion. Perhaps it goes into the abyss that is page 2 and beyond, but it is worth a try.
Some guidelines:
- Try to find the "clean link", so that links to the news site directly and not a social media site. Avoid "amp-links" (google).
- Write some cliff notes on what it is about, especially if it is a video.
- It's not an excuse to make outlandish claims via proxy or link extremist content.
- If it's an editorial or opinion piece, it is polite to mark it as such.
- Note the language if it is not in English.
- There is no demand that such things be posted here, if you think a piece merits its own thread, then make one.
Over 150 billioin dollars was sent out to Ukraine but FEMA's yearly budget is only about a billion, and now there's nothing left for us. That's our tax money, it's not Ukraine's money. I can't understand how some people are ok with this just because they hate the man who's been fighting against this global entity (literally with his life) to free us from them. Most of us can see this (which is why the Republican party is the party of common sense).

According to people who lived there (and are still alive), they were told in a meeting that the Federal Gov't is going to be taking over the land and will be bulldozing their city, bodies and all. The number of bodies is much higher than anyone is being told. I have the actual message from this person who's claiming this and here is another resident asking where their government is, even after a week. (hint: you're "gov't" isn't gonna come save you).

Also, the story about the helicopter pilot who was threatened to be arrested for literally rescuing people from dying made the MSM. I hope more people begin to wake up to what this current joke of an administration is doing to them (and not doing for them).

I think it's much more often to justify the large number of procedure writers keeping their jobs. If it was mainly your description, there would be a chance rules and procedures would go down in number. If my explanation is the main one, there is almost no chance. I think my explanation is almost certainly not just a matter of opinion. What other explanation is there for laws like "you can't pump your own gas in New Jersey". Or radio commercials that end with something like "this offer is not available in Maine, Kansas, or Oregon". The people of the other 47 states think it's a moral offer but not those in those three states? Or was the restriction mainly passed because the lawmakers needed to prove they were doing stuff (or they were getting bribed by a competitor of the one advertising.)

Another story about a helicopter pilot (using his own helicopter, and fueling it up 3 times that day using his own money) being told to stop saving people from their certain deaths and leave the area or he'll be arrested. The agency that's behind these orders is FEMA, who was supposed to be there to help us (it's not the Fire chief giving the order, they came from agencies above him).

Those men, Seidhom said were welcoming and gave him radio frequencies to communicate with them and began setting up a landing zone so he could continue delivering people to the post.

I would love to hear your justification for this. There were NO other helicopters rescuing people. These pilots were not getting in anyone's way. Another pilot was actually arrested for dropping off supplies.

It's probable something like that is happening in some places but responsibilities could not be federal and/or it could be localized events and so on.

Linked from the article above was this youtube vid of a guy doing rescues. First 10min or so is a good watch.
Shows how finicky helicopters can be with no level ground for landing and also these little private choppers don't seem very efficient but at least getting some emergency supplies to people.
Edit: It's a massive natural disaster covering multiple states, things don't get done overnight.
