I think this is mostly psychological. It’s been a legit 35 years since republicans were solid favorites to win the presidency. 2004 was maybe slight tilt R, 2000 a straight flip and for the 6 others most people would have gladly given 2:1 for the Dem. We’ll see if Republicans are a solid favorite by the election, but in recent history (08,12,16,20) it wasn’t even something people considered.
