2024 ELECTION THREAD
The next presidential race will be here soon! Please see current Bovada odds. Thoughts?
Yeah guys the whole world decided to lockdown at the same time and create masking and social distancing policies because they’re evil satanic jerks who eat babies. And the restrictions started to get mostly lifted when the covid vaccine received broad adoption because they were trying to make you forget the evil lockdowns! I am making tons of sense right now.
You can think all the mandates "made sense" but you cannot defend vaccination mandates for adults and claim "my body my choice" has ever been part of your belief system. Or claim republicans want to force healthcare choices as if that, per se, was bad, because democrats did it more than anyone else before in 70+ years during covid.
Is it true that Italy was the first to mandate the vaccine in Euroland?
Why are you sitting here discussing the politics of another country when you could be escaping communism?
So the DNC hid Joe till 11:30 PM last night lets see if they do the same with Obama
Reuters: Harris' election effort raises around $500 million in a month, sources say
U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris' election effort has raised around $500 million since she became the Democratic presidential candidate, sources told Reuters, an unprecedented money haul that reflects donor enthusiasm going into the Nov. 5 election.
I think there are too many old people but is this really the hill you want to die on? A raw 35% of all US citizens are over 50. If you include unhealthy/vulnerable individuals under 50 you are easily pushing 40% of the US population.
I work at a massive company but I personally had coworkers dying of covid every single week. My immediate family is all over 50. Nothing burger though?
Wild ass post tbh.
how many coworkers did you have die? 52?
Daily Express: Donald Trump labels supporters 'basement dwellers' in private, says Stephanie Grisham
Donald Trump mocks his supporters in private, labeling them "basement dwellers," according to his former press secretary, Stephanie Grisham. Grisham, who also served as Melania Trump's chief of staff, claimed he has "no empathy" while recalling her experiences with the family at Mar-a-Lago. She described spending every Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year at his estate in Florida during their working relationship. Addressing thousands at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday, Grisham said she was once "a true believer" of Trumpism.
"I wasn’t just a Trump supporter, I was a true believer. I was one of his closest advisers," she said.

"when statistically it was an absolute nothing burger for practically anyone healthy under 50."
1000 total deaths under 50 in 3 years from covid in Canada.
Early 2020 death data by age group.
Nothing burger for the under 50.
Could have even opened everything up for everyone under 60 and lock down the 65 and older + extreme social distance for the workers that deal with the elderly.
But yall were screaming at the top of your lungs that the under 50 year olds were were in danger of covid and something something long covid would destroy the young.
I’d have to look into the risk for those ages, but this is kind if looking at car crash statistics and saying “see you don’t need to wear seatbelts if you’re over the age of 60 because they have less car accident deaths”
14% hospitalization for 20-44 nothingburger btw

Not really.
If you ran an experiment of car crashes at 60mph with people not wearing seat belts I believe the death distribution would be pretty much similar amongst all ages. It's just 60 year olds generally drive slower and drink less than young people so they tend to die less on the road.
I'm not sure how much I trust the anecdotal evidence from covid doomers.
Tiggigty invented a few young friends of his that were all in intubation at the same time apparently.
apparently one post with a contradictory viewpoint makes me a covid doomer?
I work at a large company full of really old people. A lot of them died. We don't keep a running covid counter but probably 500+ based on how many employees there are
same company made us get the vaccine and I didn't want to get it because I'm healthy and younger, but I also enjoy being employed
Seems Canada handled Covid better than us and you are still incredibly angry and it could have been much worse for you.
Not really.

Originally raw statistics were posted and then percentages edited in. The percentages actually really help make my point in the sense that yes, there really was major risks that if bold action wasn’t taken the death rate would go higher. They experimented with a lot of different ways of stopping the spread, which is analagous to seatbelts. I truly think that because covid restrictions were successful, that people use hindsight to say it wasn’t so bad.
They took the flu deaths and turned them into Covid deaths. Spare me the first 250k deaths a year

........................................................
Nothing burger for the under 50.
10% of deaths in 2021 by 25-44 year olds was Covid related. Nice try just throwing statistically in there with no real meaning for faux rigor though.
