2024 ELECTION THREAD
The next presidential race will be here soon! Please see current Bovada odds. Thoughts?
You mean billionaire think tanks like the heritage foundation, American Enterprise, and Cato institute, and grooming foundations like the Federalist society?
There's literally no comparison to the amount of money that conservatives poor into these in comparison to liberal ones. The liberal ones are focused on community issues, climate, etc... conservative ones are OVERWHELMINGLY focused on how to cut taxes, regulations, etc..
Ugh. Ok, I'm bored now.
There is and democrats donate more (a lot more)
Am I missing something? Michelle Obama made a joke about the job of president potentially becoming a "black job" in reference to Trump previously having used that term to describe some jobs and that sparked this rant from Luciom? Like the entire point she is making with the joke is that racialising jobs is ridiculous but somehow Luciom is ranting about her for racialising the Presidency?
No you're not missing anything. It really is that stupid.
I think we got here because people are corrupt and money has done its thing. In my dream situation, we dont really need to change anything here. Need a middle of the road guy, I hoped RFK. I know silly me. But the real problem is the debt and us dollar. Huge problem, like really bad. If the bond market wakes up, we all die. But we need to calm down for a decade. AI, health advancements. China just cured diabites with stem cells. Good things are ready to happen. Let us calm down and ke
one side's base thinks stem cells are murder... so that's unlikely to happen. lol.
rfk as a middle of the road guy is hilarious. he's the nutjob fail offspring of american royalty who has developed these insane beliefs because no one has ever told him to stfu for one second.

He is a moderate nutjob though
Ok, so in your mind, democrats donate more, and they have more think tank infrastructure setup than Republicans.
What's the goal? These democrat billionaires want to donate all this money, so that they can.... ... ...
Rich people backing democrats 1) actually believe some social causes are worth the efforts (trans, immigration to a degree, abortions, "the climate" and so on) 2) learnt that by satisfying the leftist masses with culture war winnings, they can keep their fiscal loopholes, their insane intellectual protection laws, the mandates to private insurance to buy a drug that costs 10x if it provides slightly better benefits, the ban for foreign physicians to practice in the USA and so on : legally-created privileges for themselves.
They are voiding "material marxism" of a power base, by satisfying "cultural marxism". This is why "actually leftist people" think veeeery bad of the democrats, sometimes worse than the republicans. They understand their comrades are getting played.
This is the normie rural republican take. The people who know how to use their hands to fix a car engine (i don't). The people who sometimes slaughter their animals to eat them later (i don't). The people who have 5 or 10 or 15 guns and thousands of ammos just in case (i don't). The people that made america great, unique (i didn't)
I grew up on a farm, learned to shoot before I started school and I've wrenched on plenty of cars in my life. While those are semi-useful skills in life, they impart no special wisdom or competence for assessing forms of government.
Granted, I am not American and nor am particularly enamored with the hollow shell that currently calls itself conservatism.
Still, the cynic in me suspects that it is the political leaning you admire in these imaginary Republicans, rather than their skill at changing timing belts in the drive way. If these imaginary facsimiles leaned some other way politically, my guess is that you would view them as idiots.

Their skills cause their political leaning. They lean libertarian because they are self sufficient in their environment.

So they are ideologically driven to protect people, and want some undefined fiscal loopholes? Which ones are those? Ummm, conservatives are the ones that have pushed for privatized medicine and democrats just passed a new law last week to drastically reduce the most used drugs in America. I can't even make sense of your foreign physicians comment... there's lot of foreign physicians here in America, but like all medicine and law, you need to pass the regulations of the country you practice in.
I can't even understand your last paragraph. It makes no sense.
The Far Right Is Becoming Obsessed With Race and IQ
It's almost like watching history repeat? Oh, wait...

I
"undefined"? "protect people"? lol
The fiscal loopholes democrats want:
1) they want SALT deductions back in full: coastal elites got butchered by the CAP, to the tune of tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousand per year, and i am not talking billionaires.
2) they want to keep carried interest loopholes (this is bipartisan ofc)
3) they want to keep cost basis reset at death, which is a huge one, possibly the biggest one, for intergenerational wealth creation (bipartisan ofc). Not sure you understand how much that is important, ask if needed.
4) they want to keep triple exemptions on some muni bonds, HSA impressive fiscal savings and so on and on
Foreign physicians who are already practicing in their first world country are accepted to work from day 1 basically everywhere, EXCEPT the USA.
You are a 46y radiologist from Italy, 15 years of provable clinical experience, all tests and stuff passed in italy in 2007, Australian companies can offer you X to move there and practice from day 1 (if you speak english). Irish companies can and so on. Everywhere except the USA.
There are NOT A lot of foreign physicians in america in the sense we are talkign here. THERE ARE people who did their residency in america then they can work there. But if they are already settled as a physician elsewhere, they are asked to re-do their residency lololololol, man don't waste my time on this really.
Look at what happened with the Democratic nominee for the 2024 election, and how they stomped RFK out. What about that makes you think we live in a fair democracy? Great video by Russell today btw.
Russell Brand is a r*tarded grifter and you should stop watching him
Corruption isn't posted on websites. The emails do get leaked every once in a while though. This has been mind numbing.

and strangely it never happens...
they always speak like it and the rural republicans slurp it with great pleasure.
for sure they give less to the people tho thinking it will make their life better lol..
Serious question because I don't know the data on this... but how many Republicans come from a community organizer background? Or from public service job of any kind outside military enlistment?
???? hard to believe this is a serious question where you don't think it's possible that republicans could work in government or there's no community organizer type roles which they take up

Thanks for your response, but I have a hunch you don't understand what the effects of some of those things are. #2 is mostly been Republicans fighting for this, and some democrats (but not very many anymore because progressives have taken this up). #3 is not a bad thing. #4 hampers hedges against infrastructure, again, not a bad thing.
And the foreign doctors and licensing, I mean... this is what democratic billionaires are sending all their money to the Democratic party about? Seems a little absurd. This is what has rural Republicans up in arms?
I have a pretty clear list of why Republican billionaires fund the Republican party. Fighting against climate science, destroying public schools so they can privatize. Privatizing health care, utilities, and anything they can get their hands on. Deregulating as many industries as they can. Giving tax breaks to their billionaire friends (which is essentially stealing money from you), removing social safety nets. Destroying social security. Honestly, I don't have time to make this whole list... but it's pretty clear what the objectives are, and how they benefit, and how the rest of us suffer as a result. Your list is... I mean, come on.

huh? It's a serious question, and I don't understand your point. I'm asking where are the school teachers, nurses, community organizers, etc... that run for Republican office? Who are they? There's a long list of Democrats that come from these backgrounds.

while it's declining, nearly half of all politicians in america are former lawyeres, you're focusing on outliers and hence it's the party which feels best to emphasize those who have those traits and not bring up too much about the prior work of those who didn't
here's a list of former teachers in congress, as you can see it's a pretty big 50/50 and also very small portion of people in congress

No, not focusing on outliers, just asking if there are any Republicans who come from a community organizing background, or public service background. I'm assuming there has to be a few somewhere. Looks like you posted a list, so I will take a look. I haven't known any personally, and I've been around politicians all my life.

Not really. They lean that way because of the ideological environment they grew up in which also happens to value self sufficiency. Probably due more to religion than anything else.
My father was a carpenter. I was an assistant to a friend of his for some summers in college and we listened to npr while remodeling bathrooms, etc. Self-sufficiency is very important to me personally. I can fix cars, bikes, computers, plumbing… basically everything I own. Didn’t for one second affect my politics or that of my father’s friends who worked with their hands. I think those guys were a minority in their political views of course but it doesn’t follow that self-sufficiency leads to conservatism.
Communes are another example of generally hard left self-reliant types.
Non-hunting outdoor enthusiasts also probably lean left on average.
