2024 ELECTION THREAD
The next presidential race will be here soon! Please see current Bovada odds. Thoughts?
You claim something huge , life changing for many, on national tv.
You later have the CDC issue a correction with 1/50-1/100 of the population that previously got badly misinformed reached by the clarification.
The person who , on purpose, lied to the masses *in her capacity of leader of the national institution in charge of communicating science to americans* isn't punished in any way.
No the system is not working at all if that person can ever again work with the public, if she still has any ca
You've made quite a few factual mistakes on these forums. By your own reasoning quoted above you are a pathological liar for making those mistakes.
Bush McCain and Romney didn't have Trump policy platform though.
I didn't write that 0 harris voters in this forum would ever vote a republican candidate.
I wrote they wouldn't vote a republican candidate with the same policy platform as Trump.
It’s hard to even know what trump platform is with all the bs he says .
And then to trust he will actually do it like in « 2016 »
When you speak America do you speak the entire country or just the swing states ?
Just looking at abortion that is almost half the country .
No matter how much you care about abortion, this presidential election is inconsequential for it (both if you want it to be easily available, or if you want it banned everywhere or anything in the middle).
After Dobbs, abortion is a state matter. The court is 6-3 so the chances that even with Harris president she can flip it to democrats are close to 0, especially if republicans have the senate.
As long as you have this court or something similar to it , abortion is not a federal matter so federal elections don't determine abortion rules.

If i was the politically nominated leader of a public institution and made factual public mistakes without admitting them in the immediate aftermath about topics of which i am a lifetime experts of, yes.
But it's telling that you want to apply a standard i propose for accountability of the TECHNICAL heads of public institutions , theoretically actual experts (not simply political appointments), to forum users talking about stuff that isn't necessarily what they based their lifetime career upon.
Btw no mention of the violent unconstitutional attempt by Walensky i see

This might be the most clearly false claim I've seen today. Why are you ignoring how the current situation came about, or that it might gradually change even if a flip in the next term is unlikely?

The only violence you've proven in your post is your own violence against reason, rationality, and common sense.

It can't gradually change, same as it didn't gradually change previously. It's either/or.
At this point democrats (if they want abortions rules to be federal) need to reverse Dobbs. This means moving the court from 6-3 to 4-5 (at least).
If you want me to say that Harris winning gives a vague chance (very low probability) within the 4 years of maybe moving the court 5-4, sure. That won't change abortion rules though.
So THIS election won't determine abortion rules. Sure if you are truly obsessed about abortion like republicans were and are you can be planning for 5, 10, 20 years down the line and ofc you need to win as many presidential and senate elections as you can on the offchance a seat is open and you control both.
That's very different from saying that "abortion is on the ballot" this cycle though (a common, completly misleading democrat claim). THIS election is unconsequential for present day abortion rules.
The only violence you've proven in your post is your own violence against reason, rationality, and common sense.
You defined me as unhinged because i referred to a completly unconstitutional attempt of violating the rights of hundreds of thousands of property owners across america as violence.
You don't need to be the most charitable reader to realize I meant the court can gradually change (we also cannot completely rule out the decision (or its reversal) gets reversed in the next term), and this is a very unlibertarian concept, I know, but it is clear that it thus does matter this election for people who do not think only about themselves in the here and now, your facts and logic notwithstanding.
As for the mythical rational agents you allude to, people aren't planning for themselves or their daughters to have an abortion in two years any more than in six or ten. The issue matters to many regardless (on both sides, even if by your own standards absolutely noone should be anti-choice).

Maybe pro abortion women simply want to tell Trump that he is “fired” (again) for ****ing up their reproductive freedoms and end his political career.

There are approx 900k abortions per year in the USA. Even after dobbs, abortion access is the same as when Roe was the law in states that sum up to approx 60% of the american population.
Even counting the 40% as if it was a full abortion ban for them (it isn't), let's say 350k abortions per year aren't available anymore which were previously available.
If i was a pro abortion advocate who had money and political capital to spend, how best can i make things so that those 350k women can have access to abortion anyway even if some republican led states decided to greatly restrict such access?
how much does it cost to have an abortion out of state? to take a plane basically and stay a few days outside? 1k? 2k? 5k? at 5k it's less than 2 billion dollars.
Blue states , blue donors, can't come up with 2 billion dollars to fully guarantee everything is like before? is that the size of the issue which purportedly motivates millions of people obsessively?
Some republicans are obsessed by abortion but that's because they think it's murder in all cases and so on, so ofc it's non-economic for them, they want to ban for moral reasons.
But if want you want to accomplish is to have women be able to access abortion, with the current rules standing, just collectively spend 2 billion per year and that's fixed.
All it takes for your daughter, or wife or girlfriend, or woman you generally care about to be able to access abortion with Dobbs is a couple thousands bucks in case she wants to abort in the worst case scenario jfc.
Happy Tuesday, 2p2.
24 hours from now, the sun will rise again and the healing will begin.
Kamala wins 56% popular vote. Ship it.
In the key state of Pennsylvania the “red mirage” of a Trump win on election night
giving way to a “blue shift” as Democratic votes are counted — is still in place.
Pennsylvania has not updated its laws to allow for faster counting of mail-in ballots
Trump’s attacks on mail-in voting in 2020 have had a lasting effect,
leading Democrats to be much more likely to vote by mail than Republicans.
NYT "The Daily" guide to election night:
They discuss the usual electoral math and path for each of the candidates. They also discuss the possibility of a red mirage on the popular vote - since the popular vote is polled to be much closer this year, Trump might lead the popular vote at the end of the night and Harris only pull ahead after California completes its count, which might be a few days later. Naturally Trump would use this like he did the electoral red mirage in 2020 - claim it's fraud, esp if Trump is behind in the eastern/north-eastern electoral votes while temporarily leading in the popular vote.
You defined me as unhinged because i referred to a completly unconstitutional attempt of violating the rights of hundreds of thousands of property owners across america as violence.
I disagree it was unconstitutional, I agree you're unhinged for characterizing it as violent even if it were unconstitutional. The purpose of our three branches of government is to enforce, amend, and evaluate the constitutionality of government action as an alternative to using violence to achieve those ends.
Donald Trump will claim he won. And he’ll probably do this on Tuesday night.
It’s important not to jump to conclusions about who is winning,
and instead prepare for the vote counting to take a few days.
four states that are likely to be both close and slow:
Pennsylvania, election workers will not process any ballots — including the early and
mail in votes — until the polls close at 8:00 p.m. ET, it could take a day or two to call the state.
Arizona, has an unusually long ballot this year, which could delay vote counts.
And the mail-in ballots received on Election Day won’t be tabulated until after the polls close that evening.
Michigan. The state spans two time zones, with the Upper Peninsula not closing its polls until 9:00 p.m. ET.
Nevada, a new law allows ballots postmarked by Election Day
to be counted if they’re received up to four days after the election is over.
Meanwhile on democrats' twitter
and maybe democrats want to be able to muster those troops for a long time so they won't fix things
Huh? Who cares?
You claimed pro abortionists have no skin the game because the federal elections for president won't effect abortion rights. I offer up revenge as a motive. Plenty of woman hate Trump for Dobbs, and taking credit for it, as a single issue.

Sounds like a dem cover story for stealing the election. Oh look, we magically found 100,000 ballots for Kamala in the middle of the night....
Being subjected to advertisements is a leak in your game. I cut the cord 20 years ago and the only ads I've seen in that time are whatever shows up silently on the TVs in various waiting rooms or restaurants I've been in, and sometimes while watching football games during fantasy season. It seems most streams now come from NFL+, though, so they just show that logo during ad breaks.
Pi-hole + Firefox + ********** means the internet is almost entirely ad-free. I immediately nope out of any site that bypasses filters or demands I turn it off. I probably didn't want to read your article, anyway.
I abandoned talk radio for the same reason. Too many ads. Strictly audiobooks during my commute for many years now.
The fact that I'm leeching off the system is not entirely lost on me, however. I thank those of you who are paying for all the services I abuse for free. Very cool of you.

Oh look, there's a process in place to verify not only how we counted the ballots but their actual validity as well. It's almost magic how fraud can be both prevented and detected.
