Her.

I don't agree with the way Mulvaney was treated. The brands that threw money at her were also the villains, the campaigns misjudged and they effectively threw her under the bus. Bud Lite was whatever, but my partner was disparaging at having a male modelling and promoting female sportwear.

lol @ "throwing money at her," Dylan Mulvaney did a one-time promo on a twitch stream that only her subscribers ever saw. It probably cost Anheuser-Busch about $46.83, plus shipping.

It isn't as simple as yes or no. Do I think you should be able to prevail in a sex discrimination case simply by pointing out that the percentage of female MDs at Morgan Stanley is lower than the percentage of women in the overall population? Of course not. Do I believe that you you should be able to use statistical evidence (if it is extreme enough) to argue for a rebuttable presumption in the prosecutor example I offered? I do.

A company can be sued for absolutely nothing at all. That's

Oh there isn't only the USA i was talking generally, "how it ought to be".

I know in europe anti-discrimination cases can start from the government against companies and that statistical discrimination is considered presumptively good enough for the case not to be dismissed on grounds of being frivolous.

My take is that unless there are enough proof (or "elements" to be assessed later in court like witnesses on record, emails stating discriminatory intent and so on) of actual specific discrimination against specific individuals about protected characteristics cases should never even start.

right , they didn't throw much money at Mulvaney, but they did throw 1 billion + down the toilet in decreased sales of that brand, and that only, after they went with Mulvaney.

When we talk uninformed voters and "Who is Kamala", "When did Biden drop out", etc. I have to wonder how many people have actually seen Trump calling his political opponents vermin, know about immigrants poisoning the blood of the country, know about promising retribution against the left.

How many Trump voters actually know why some on the left call him a fascist and have actually examined the whole list of evidence?

Obviously, every right side poster here knows all that and loves it. I'm just wondering how much of the average Joe voter knew all this.

The most common sentiment I see is how "sick" people are of the "woke left" and the only reasonable explanation is that they just aren't aware that he says these things regularly because his rally is 2.5 hours of nonsense and 30 minutes of divisive propaganda dispersed throughout.

Dems have a propaganda problem. They are the party of division and hate despite the fact its just them pointing out that Trump spreads fascist rhetoric and that his base eats it up. Pretty self explanatory stuff.

I have no understanding of how discrimination litigation is handled outside the U.S., so I won't pretend to comment.

I should add that obviously my hypothetical would be a pretty dumb thing to do from a business point of view in most circumstances, since taking such a stance publicly would probably out you as a bigot and lose you most of your customers and/or investors, but the law is not there to protect people from making stupid business decisions.

If we circle back to where we all started, I was trying to explain to our conservative friend that free speech works both ways (has consequences, if you like), and

If it was completly legal at all levels (local/national/supranational), places discriminating explicitly against muslims would make a killing in some sectors, in some areas of the UK and Italy (and i think in other european countries as well).

We had stuff happening like you need to fire some people because business is going badly overall for the company and only some new initiatives are showing some hope, most fired people are older than the median company employee age, people fired sue for age discrimination without absolutely nothing else other than that fact, the case is taken as legit

I did qualify it with "in most circumstances". I am aware that there is a niche for marketing specifically to bigots.

They either don’t know, don’t care, or don’t believe him. Better to focus on what they do care about and pay attention to, like cost of living.

The odds he's going to trust your assessment is about 0 given your track record on the stuff he is able to verify.

ILLEGAL immigrants was the claim. Illegals.

Confront these 2 statements:

1) "billionaires are corrupting the country"

2)"criminal billionaires are corrupting the country".

Imagine someone saying 2), then you claiming they said 1). That's what you did here with Trump.

At the end it's probably better to be uninformed than to be "informed" by your sources.

You don't have any nobel prize or field medal winner to ask about ?

High school students could figure out your errors. You can't expect people to take your word on something in some other country when you're wrong so much on how this works in the US but still opine on it.

When >50% of your immigrant population is descended from illegal immigrants there is no distinction.

"Your parents are scum, your grandparents are criminals. They poisoned the blood of our country so that you could have a better life" The implication there would be "We ****ing hate you too" but maybe I'm just too smart for all this

Btw 13% of democrats agree with Trump on that.

Oh and CURRENT illegal immigration being "poisonous" doesn't necessarily imply that illegal immigration in the past was.

I wonder how many different responses you'd get if you asked the same group "what does 'poisoning the blood of the country' mean to you?"

I honestly have no idea what it means, to me it just sounds like some Nazi rhetoric intended to appeal to simpletons who think it sounds pithy.

How is the government supposed to supplement cost of living without blowing up money supply and issuing more debt?

Do you realize that the government supplementing the cost of living is SOCIALISM !!!!!!11!!!

Wow, 13% of Democrats are potentially racist *******s. Who could have ever imagined!

Because its lifted straight from Hitlers own writings

"All great cultures of the past perished only because the originally creative race died out from blood poisoning," Hitler wrote.

"Whenever Aryans have mingled their blood with that of an inferior race, the result has been the downfall of the people who were the standard-bearers of a higher culture," he wrote in another passage.

by Luciom k

He did insane with latinos (best republican share of latino vote since 1976 from what i read) , but still a tad less than 50% iirc

Think he squeaked over 50% with Latino men.

I don’t think everyone upset about cost of living has a rational idea of the cause or solutions. Probably most don’t. Nevertheless it seems like a major point for voters. Maybe it’s just an unwinnable situation for the (perceived) incumbent. All the more reason Harris should have separated herself more from Biden.

Biden also ran on basically the same message of Trump being a fascist but got millions more votes so it doesn’t seem like lack of awareness on that point is necessarily the problem.

Oh right. But he's talking about ILLEGAL immigrants, because clearly they're genetically different to their legal brethren. I guess being ILLEGAL must be encoded in a DNA strand that they have removed when they go to get their visa. Is that how that works Luciom?

Ultimately what matters though is how non-immigrant Latinos view themselves. If they don’t identify with the people Trump is talking about it doesn’t matter if liberals think they should.

Decent speech by Joe

Not if goverment is currently increasing the cost of a lot of things by existing, and by reducing government presence in some sectors (regulations) you can decrease the cost of producing stuff people want to consume.

In a few cases you can decrease the cost of stuff by increasing regulations even! (or by enforcing existing ones properly). Like when monopolists are scamming people.

Or, if you reduce taxes, you increase the consumption power of the same gross earning.
