Moderation Questions
The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic failed, and it became a general discussion thread with almost no moderation related posts at all. And those that were posted were so buried in non-mod posts that it became a huge time drain on the mods to sort through them. Then, when off topic posts were deleted posters complained about that.
This led to the closing of the mod discussion thread, replaced by the post report/pm approach. This has filtered out lots of noise, but has resulted at times in the General Discussion Thread turning into a quasi-mod thread. This is not desirable, but going back to the old mod thread is also not a workable option.
Therefore, I have created this new moderation thread, but with a different purpose and ground rules than previous mod threads. The purpose of this thread is to provide a place for posters to pose questions to the mods about how policies are applied; to bring to the mods attention posts they think are inappropriate and reach the level of requiring mod action; and for mods to communicate to posters things like changes or clarifications to policies, bannings, etc.
Now let me tell you what this thread is NOT a place for. It is not for nonmoderation related posts, even if the discussion originates from a comment in in a mod related post. It is not for posters to post their opinions about other posters or whether a poster should be banned. It is not to rehash past grievances about mod decisions from months or years ago. The focus of this thread will be recent posts that require action now. Or questions about current policies and enforcement.
So basically, this is a thread to ask mods questions. Which means, pretty much that only mods should be answering those questions. If a poster asks why a particular post was deleted or allowed, only a mod can answer that. Everyone else who wants to jump in with their opinion or their mod war story needs to stay out of it. It just increases the noise to signal ratio and does nothing to answer the question.
Everyone needs to understand that this thread has very different rules than the old mod thread and any other thread. Any non-moderation post will be deleted on sight. Not moved to the appropriate thread, just deleted. So don't waste your time crafting a masterpiece post about wars or transgender issues or the presidential election and then post it in this thread. It will be gone. Also, this isnt a thread for general commentary about our mods performance. Posting "browser sucks as a mod" or any such posts that don't actually ask about a policy or request a mod action will be deleted. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about the moderation of this forum. But this thread isnt for complaining about mods. You are free to go to the ATF forum and make your concerns about modding in this forum there.
So with that intro, this thread is open for those who need to bring questions about mod policies or bring inappropriate posts to the mods attention. Again, it is NOT a thread for group discussions about other posters or for other posters to answer questions directed to mods.
We'll see how this goes. If you have what you feel is an open issue raised in the General Discussion Thread, please copy that post or otherwise reintroduce the issue here.
Thanks.
You guys realize he speaks in such a vague manner in order to avoid accountability, right? I doubt he ever deigns to answer with specifics.
spoiler: I know you realize it. I'm just using this to call him out on it.
I am speaking about things which are hidden from you. The issue isn’t on my end.
Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City "Sailor wanna hump-hump" bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.
Melvin U had it right
This isn't an answer to either of my questions, so let's try again.
1. Do you consider yourself a prophet?
2. Do you believe that you have an unusually close or intense connection with God?
Both questions can be answered with a simple yes or no.

I said yes.
Do you hold a prophet in higher status than the SoM?
Do you place God above him?
If so, you are mistaken on both accounts.
If I am a member of an uncontacted tribe in the Amazon, and I generally make an effort to treat others well, which master am I serving?
If the tribesman has not been made aware of the SoM and his commands, then the line has not been drawn for him.
Nobody wins the game without losing many times, and you can’t win the game until you realize you’re in it and losing.
When I say the score will be settled, all I mean is that I will provide more clarity to the game and it will be harder to opt out.
It sure seems like Craig is promising biblical retribution which can only mean that he believes Trump is the anti-christ come to end the world
I kinda thought he thought he was batting for the other team but this makes a lot of sense

Only for those who wisely choose to play the game.
People like D2, who relentlessly mock those with faith, will find less social comfort in their position. I’m very much looking forward to this.

Yeah man, I think adults who believe in Santa are morons. Trembling in my boots, man, is your imaginary hell friend gonna take me away to some far away place?
I said yes.

I never said anything to suggest that I held prophets in higher regard than deities.
Ok. You are a prophet. I have a bunch of questions.
1) Are you recognized as a prophet by any organized religious body such as a church?
2) Are you the sort of prophet who predicts things about the future? If so, have you made any prophecies yet that have proven to be true based on empirical evidence? If so, can you give us some details?
3) How do you receive communications from God? Are the communications auditory, visionary, telepathic, or some combination of all three? How often do you receive the communications?
4) If God communicates with you using words, would you say that God's messages to you are linguistically similar to your messages to us? How specific are God's messages to you? For example, did God tell you to spread his message on 2+2, or would that sort of thing be too specific for a message from God?
5) Are you able to induce responses from God more or less when you want, or do you have to wait around until God decides the time is right to communicate with you?
6) Why do you believe that you were chosen to be a prophet? Do you have followers?
7) Do you routinely tell people that you are a prophet? If so, do a non-trivial percentage of your acquaintances think you are mentally ill? (The last question is not an attack. I ask only because I imagine that a true prophet in the modern world would strike most people as mentally ill.)
When I say the score will be settled, all I mean is that I will provide more clarity to the game and it will be harder to opt out.
What do you mean when you say you personally will provide more clarity to the game?
How is it possible to opt out of the game now? You more or less said that, if you have been exposed to Christianity, then you either serve God or you serve Satan. No exceptions. That doesn't seem like the sort of game you can opt out of.
7) Have you ever been a patient in a psychiatric hospital?
Craig, you’ve been at this for over ten years… I’ve looked at the threads you’ve started in the past. This isn’t new… What are you doing?
I just wish you guys would stop creating extremely niche and bizarre scenarios where I am then tasked with figuring out the most ethical manner in which to proceed. Ffs.

This whole "don't accuse people for being mad" thing is a bit ridiculous.
Half the people who post here are mad, And the other half call them out on it,
Let’s let things play out a little.
Do you remember when I mentioned that the path is hidden and in a fog?
People who seek the level of clarity you seem to be seeking have already decided to opt out. When I talk about adding more clarity to the game, it’s at a very low level. I should probably find a different word.

Subjectivity always allows you the freedom to opt out.
I’m fine to stop posting about this, but I know D2 can’t stop himself from clicking and these posts annoy him.
Still, everything I say is the truth. I will deliver on my words.

I guess that means you aren't going to answer my questions.
I don't even know what you mean by "opting out."
