Trump 2nd term prediction thread

Trump 2nd term prediction thread

So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.

Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.

A bit of an anemic OP, I know, just interested to hear people's thoughts now that the election uncertainty is over.

Sole prediction is that America will be made great again

It's already starting to happen

In every major war, there will always be winners and losers.

Going to say RFK does not make it into any administration. His usefulness to Trump is nil. His only leverage was his presidential run and he has no constituency to support him. Everyone who voted for him voted for the name, not him.

Sure. You can speculate that the SCOTUS will rubber stamp literally everything, no matter how blatantly unconstitutional, but I don't foresee a situation in which that occurs. The Court will be bad. No question about that. But not in the way or to the degree that you are imagining.

hard agree - at the end of the day they will stay independent, even if it's for selfish reasons of personal legacy

I love the people who think he will govern like a normal president. He will be a dictator from day 1 and things will get really bad. Here's what's actually going to happen:

1. The great brain drain begins (has already begun?). The top people in most fields will flee to other countries. Combined with RJK in charge of health and Elon in charge of commerce, there will be noticeable shift away from science and towards conspiracy.

2. The media will whitewash everything Trump does for fear of retr

lol, MSNBC much?

I don't watch any cable news networks, but I do know what fascism is.

Sounds good. Bring it on.

Which is why it's kinda sensible to shift risk off unless additional very bullish events happen that can keep the market at this redicolous levels.

I mean walmart has a current PE of 44 and a forward PE of 31, unless something happens that significantly increases future revenue & earnings how the hell can you justify those numbers? and it's like that for a lot of staples.

Multiples are insane, and whatever you think of specific narratives about technology which could justify , maybe, some names th

SRM said that his clients claimed they would have made drastic changes to their portfolios if Kamala won. That would have been a terrible idea. Sure, if they wanted to diversify and move a little bit into other investment channels due to high P/E ratios that's fine I guess. But 'timing the market' with big moves due to shifting political adjustments is a bad idea.

Every single person who's ever said this has been on the right but either didn't know it or didn't want to admit it.

tbf, about 99.8% of the voters who said they were on the left were actually on the right but didnt know it as well

8. Many POCs, Jews, and LGBT people will be lynched and hung in small towns and crowds will gather to watch in a festival-like atmosphere. Food trucks will advertise $5 carnitas tacos.

bruv its 2024.

Spoiler
Show

even in the midwest that taco will cost like 15 bucks

Pro tip: Politics is the new cocaine of social media introverts.

Whatever happens in your house is far more influential to your well being than what happens in the political spectrum - too many people have already ****ed their lives up out of irrational fear from political horseshit while millions of people who have it far worse than you still possess the strength to live a fulfilling life.

15. By 2028, most Trump voters will realize they made a mistake

NBC News: Millions at risk of losing health insurance after Trump's victory

Millions of Americans risk losing subsidies next year that help them pay for health insurance following President-elect Donald Trump’s election win and Republicans’ victory in the Senate.

The subsidies — which expire at the end of 2025 — came out of the 2021 American Rescue Plan, and increased the amount of assistance available to people who want to buy health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. The American Rescue Plan also broadened the number of people eligible for subsidies, extending them to many in the middle class.

The looming expiration date means that the incoming Congress and next president will need to decide whether to extend them — something Trump and Republicans have already signaled they don’t support, said Chris Meekins, a health policy research analyst at the investment firm Raymond James.

ACA is a wildly popular program. Trump won the popular vote. Like Obama said, elections have consequences. Will be interesting to see how MAGA convinces themselves that losing their access to affordable health insurance is good for them. Owning those libs!

It won't happen until much further into his reign. Some of them may change their mind after he wins his third election... I'm joking, but those who do change their mind will be the minority, and chances are that won't happen until long after his presidency.

"And under all this vast illusion of the cosmopolitan planet, with its empires and its Reuter's agency, the real life of man goes on concerned with this tree or that temple, with this harvest or that drinking-song, totally uncomprehended, totally untouched. And it watches from its splendid parochialism, possibly with a smile of amusement, motor-car civilization going its triumphant way, outstripping time, consuming space, seeing all and seeing nothing, roaring on at last to the capture of the solar system, only to find the sun cockney and the stars suburban."

Consider how incredibly untrue this sweeping statement is for many people who aren't you. Better still, walk through whatever you know of US history and see how many examples come to mind of people who didn't have the luxury of downplaying politics.

The story of the young woman whose death I witnessed in a concentration camp. It is a simple story. There is little to tell and it may sound as if I had invented it; but to me it seems like a poem. This young woman knew that she would die in the next few days. But when I talked to her she was cheerful in spite of this knowledge. "I am grateful that fate has hit me so hard," she told me. "In my former life I was spoiled and did not take spiritual accomplishments seriously." Pointing through the window of the hut, she said, "This tree here is the only friend I have in my loneliness." Through that window she could see just one branch of a chestnut tree, and on the branch were two blossoms. "I often talk to this tree," she said to me. I was startled and didn't quite know how to take her words. Was she delirious? Did she have occasional hallucinations? Anxiously I asked her if the tree replied. "Yes." What did it say to her? She answered, "It said to me, 'I am here-I am here-I am life, eternal life.” ― Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning

Obviously kind of true, as long as nothing on the list happens. It's pretty obvious that as long as you have boring politics then whatever you do personally is going to be more important than a 5% tax cut or a 50 dollar increase in benefits, but not quite as true if a hurricane destroys your house and the government won't help you because of the way you voted.

But that isn't quite a response to the post. There's a problem that, in response to report's about Trump's desire to murder protesters or withhold funds from states that didn't vote for him that people will say, "but that didn't happen in his first term so don't worry about it" but out the other side of their mouth say "we got rid of all the people who were stopping Trump from doing what he wanted. He's going to have free reign now", but the people who were stopping Trump were the people who were telling him you've got to give aid to a state regardless of who they voted for. So is that a legitimate worry?

do you honestly think trump is going to start murdering protesters? what is your evidence for that fear?

by rickroll k

Remember violent arsonists, rioters and so on are "protestors" when they grievances agree with leftist politics.

And it wasn't people around trump that told him not to use lethal force against racial riots. Those people actually told him to use it, and trump refused.

This was the obvious, mainstream, normal rightwing take

NBC News: Millions at risk of losing health insurance after Trump's victory

You keep thinking that everyone is in politics to steal stuff from other people then calling it democracy because the 51% decided the 49% had "too much".

Well some people have dignity, which means they don't like to receive charity if they don't feel they are truly desperate.

If you can see a rich person being in favor of increasing taxes on the rich as possible and not dumb, why can't you see a relatively poor person being in favor of cutting welfare as possible and not dumb?

by Luciom k

And it wasn't people around trump that told him not to use lethal force against racial riots. Those people actually told him to use it, and trump refused.

Former Defense Secretary Mark Esper charges in a memoir out May 10 that former President Trump said when demonstrators were filling the streets around the White House following the death of George Floyd: "Can't you just shoot them? Just shoot them in the legs or something?"

https://www.axios.com/2022/05/02/mark-es...

I guess you could say he's not expressly advocating lethal force, just maiming random people. But I'd say that shooting random people is going to eventually kill someone as opposed to other ways of dealing with people.

I’ve still got faith that Trump will have difficulty implementing his crazier ideas once they require people outside his circle to participate and because his sycophants are chosen for loyalty more than competence.
