The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet
Where ?
You said Quebec seem to hold out to open his border and I showed they actually intended to open them ….
Maybe in some aspect it will take a bit of time but that is due to laws and other things like régulations that need to be changed shrug.
So yeah I did read it and Quebec doesnt seem to want to hold up much as u claimed .
So yeah as usual , u tried and failed .

If lots of things are off the table from the start its not free trade
I wonder if shifty knows how trump is losing many times in court for the illegal application of tariffs under false pretext like fentanyl and illegal immigration in using emergency measures .
Wich shifty gladly praise trump doing it ….and it was Trudeau fault to push trump doing it .
Nice to see Alberta take a lead on banning Trans athletes from women's sports . They get it right starting at the age of 12
Ya know just once, if these folks really think that banning 13 year old kids from playing on a sports team with their friends is the real issue to focus on, that the bill would look like this: Here's the 10 ways we are increasing supports for trans people, including dollars spent on mental health supports, and we're going to pair all that overwhelming support with the one bad trade off of taking away sports. But no, trying to earn political points by scapegoating trans kids is the point.

See this is why you are on the extreme left . The bill allows all individuals under 13 to compete but once you hit junior high than it changes as sports become more competitive . Hey you could argue it should start at the high school level but no budging with the trans warriors. Its why the Dems lost they take the wrong side of an 80/20 issue
You clearly missed the point of my post entirely. I guess the desperation for that "extreme left" branding to be snuck in is particularly high these days. Next thing we know a moving target will be along to tell me my opinion on this is somehow related to me being a math professor!
Polling update: carney net favorable +24, poilievre -5. Strong liberal majority of election called today.
He is definitely in the honeymoon period. That said he has set expectations very hard and a lot of realities are going to upset the promised speed and transformation (not least of which being the provinces). A recession is still likely. Budget cuts won’t come quickly or easily. Etc. honeymoons end.
But for now it’s good news if you are a liberal
Carney going strong against overregulation as one of the crucial problems of Canada
https://x.com/MarkJCarney/status/1931841...
Ofc his "rethoric" here is much smoother than what you hear on the right but the content is *identical*: regulations destroy the quality of life of people and are one of the major problems of western countries these days. That's the message the right has been pushing for a long while, and that's the same, identical message Carney has chosen here.
If being a liberal finally means accepting the right was correct all along on one of the major issues of our times, and leftist-inspired regulations and bureaucracy are a direct threat to the well being of citizens, then long live liberals!
Personnally, I'm happy there are rules about selling poisoned/rotten food, poisoned water, etc...

Carney is saying all the right things and I applaud him on not giving the NDP official Party status and inviting India's leader to the G7
The conservatives should have said goodbye to Pierre as much as Trump helped Carney Pierre still blew a 25 point lead and ran a bad campaign down the stretch. Add in losing your seat
Today's announcement is a great example of my earlier point about how Carney is hitting for the fences on issue after issue after issue and soon reality is going to start catching those balls. The plan is for 2% NATO target this year!?!?!. Like Trudeau era liberals steadily increased NATO spending from the harper years, ended up doubling it. But it was slow progress year over year. Can this really actually be done this year? It feels like procurement timetables alone make that hard. Like kudos on the ambitious targets and moving fast and break things attitude, but damn does this not feel like he is setting up for perfect lozen "Carney LIED because he only got us to 1.75% within a year" type comments.

Sorry but I commend him on this one also. Ill give him high praise if he cancels the F35's and starts awarding contracts to South Korea as well . The Ukranian's showed the world the future of warfare with their drone attack.
Will you commend him if he makes big progress but comes shy of the full target? Because you have a history (example clean water) of ONLY commenting that someone fails to meet the target even when they make tremendous progress.

I do believe he never promised to hit 2% in his first year in office . If he hits 1.75 % in his first year its a huge step. Trudeau promised something in 4 years and 9 years later till far from achieving his goal because I do believe he said it was hard
Lets be clear I hope he succeeds at all the promises he makes I am not cheering he fails
Exactly my point. Despite the TREMENDOUS improvements made over the Harper years, the fact that it was still not at 100% accomplished (with a lot of issues that aren't the fault of the federal government), you've never once given an even iota of credit for the progress that was made. I thus have very little reason to suspect that you are going to be cheering on partial credit now that it is mark carney BUT for the fact that you don't hate him with the seething passion of a thousand suns like you do trudeau.
Probably the worst thing carney has and will do classic empty promise to stavevoff american crazy people not sweating it. I don't think people understand what -1% gdp would look like for us. Goodbye Healthcare

do you think it's acceptable that with immensely better technology building infrastructure takes longer than 60 years ago? it should take a lot less time with the same level of rules. and that's what Carney is talking about

From they guy who says Trudeau is gone you keep referring to him . Harper and Trudeau both failed at NATO commitments . I gave Trudeau a chance and voted for him but he failed dramatically on major promises. I will give Carney the credit for what he has done and see how he delivers on his promises. I am not sure how he finds the $$$ to make the promise without massive cuts or deficits
Defense spending needs to be responsible as well . An example is if they spent 80 billion on F35's and Aircraft Carriers just to meet a goal that would be irresponsible .
Carney has said we can't rely on the USA and that should also apply to their over priced military products . South Korea is better value for the money
What a timely report
https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/ca...
Canada’s plan to replace its aging CF-18 fighter jets with American-made F-35s is now expected to cost $27.7 billion — nearly 50 per cent more than the original estimate in 2022 — plus another $5.5 billion to achieve full operation capacity.
I guess that is one way to hit your defense spending buy overpriced unreliable jets
I may have posted this before but its timely again.
