The "LOLCANADA" thread...again

So what's new?

I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet

I think there was a lot of political pressure from the company that owned the other bridge not wanting another bridge and that is why Canada paid for it. There is a toll to cross it and the money goes to pay off the bridge

This is such a great example of trumpiness. That owner can be unhappy. They made their case a decade ago before Canada and the US made an agreement involving PMs of both parties and presidents of both parties. But then that guy goes and meets with trump and of course it is perfect fodder from trump's anti-canada hate and suddenly after all the billions spent we get attacked once again.

why wouldn't i call a mas shooter a mass shooter?

by uke_master

Really sad to you trying to stuff your culture war politics into this tragedy.

Me it's the CBC pushing the gender crap all worried about calling a boy a girl

Not sure we're the Grumpiness is I agree with you why Trump is doing this and the fact he tried to not get the bridge built from the start and a possible reason why the USA never paid any part of it

Damn TDS really got you

Seriously **** off. This is horrible tragedy. Stop trying to get your licks in about your culture warrior anti-trans gender ideology bullshit. If you are super super mad that CBC identified the shooter as a trans woman that's on you. If you want to debate "should we refer to trans people by the pronoun they identify with" point ok fine, there is a time and a place for that debate, but that time and place is not right now.

Be a better human being.

Lol. Firstly, "TDS" is literally your entire personality ITT just for a different T, so I wouldn't play that card if I was you. But more importantly, this is a great example where it is APPROPRIATE to point how ridiculous and outrageous Trump is being here trying to shut down a bridge that was already built, already paid for by Canada, already sign and approved by none other than Donald Trump himself. It isn't derangement syndrome to look at outrageous things and call them outrageous. That's just reality.

Sounds like the one all worried about the gender crap and insistent on boy vs girl is.....you. Again, this is a horrific tragedy. There is a time and place to debate gender crap. Does it have to be right now? Do you have to do the stupid conservative head-in-sand refusing to acknowledge trans people routine....now? I choked up this morning. I stupidly watched an interview with

You sound like the GOP now is not the time to have the conversation thoughts and prayers .

Yeah a boy killed 12 year old kids what a piece of garbage . This boy had been picked up by the RCMP multiple times and placed on 24 hour mental health watches, The guns had been removed by the police but they petitioned to get them back and did. They were not locked up. Maybe its time we charge the father if still in the picture and the judge that ordered the guns released.

Maybe we had a serious talk about the fact there have been a bunch of trans shooters in the last few years. Maybe we treat it for what it is in 90 % of cases a mental health issue

If you want to have a conversation about mental health watches and guns being released and what the RCMP etc could have done differently I have no objection. That might be relevant. Instead, however, until now you focused on your gender ideology culture war and came into the thread being mad that the CBC used its long standing practice of referring to people by the gender to which they identify.

So at the time that many people are facing this tragedy and processing their emotions about it, you are raging on about gender identity politics. It's just like....**** off. Do you see how disconnected this comes off?

did the cbc not say trans female? thats still identifying them as their desired pronoun but leaving trans out is not news. you have to have the facts even if you don't like the facts. we don't need are single news station leaving out facts to appease and be pc. idk nothing wrong with them calling her a girl lozen off the rails. I just don't like if they emitted key details for political reasons.

That being said why does this person get the respect? should call them an animal.

alright i googled it cbc says she was trans no problem here.

Ya CBC didn’t do anything wrong, just totally normal editorial reporting that they are a trans woman. But that won’t stop the gender warriors like lozen.

Why do "we" the public need to talk about it? Irrespective of what anyone thinks on the trans issue, I think everyone would acknowledge that it's an extremely vulnerable community, mostly amid a bunch of young, immature and sometimes viciously cruel crowd in addition to everything else.

And it really doesn't matter to the public that a disproportionate percentage of the trans community does something like this because it's still an iota percentage of the trans community.

I'd red pen any mention of it if I was on the media desk. As you said school shootings are mental health issues and I'd argue that mental health should be kept out of the public eye. It's not like a gang out on a killing spree where our safety is in immediate danger.

Anti-trans activists want to paint a picture of trans people generally being mentally ill. So when a trans person is mentally ill and does horrific things, this is fodder for their culture war.

I mean they are more mentally ill on average by quite a lot. I doubt any study can or will be done about that but the eye test says so you just have to meet and talk to them unfortunately they are a higher gdp of shootings because of that. I don't think thats even an anti trans thing to say they simply are getting mental illness from being who they are and the unfortunate consequences that come with that because of how society views them.

What you mean to say is anti trans activists want to associate being trans as a direct result of mental illness. but i think its the other chicken before the egg

Yes, some uninformed shoot from the hips debate about trans people being mentally ill is EXACTLY what the anti trans activities are hoping to spark when they go on like this. So I guess lozen wins after all.

by MoViN.tArGeT

I mean they are more mentally ill on average by quite a lot. I doubt any study can or will be done about that ...

Studies have been done. In the UK, at the now-closed Tavistock clinic, a third of the juvenile patients were autistic, a gross over-representation considering the incidence of autism in the population as a whole. A similarly disproportionate number were 'in care'. But this probably reflects the controlling influence of activist social workers and clinicians who, for dubious reasons, wanted to send confused children down that route.

A majority of the patients were same-sex attracted, and most of those not in care were referred by parents who were not comfortable with homosexuality. ('Trans away the gay.')

There was a high incidence of depression in the cohort, not surprisingly. Trans identification is often a (modish) mask for other social and psychiatric problems which then go untreated or insufficiently recognised.

The Tumbler Ridge shooter was probably a psychopath, and there's not much you can do about psychopathy. His mother was disturbed by his mirthless smile when deliberately hurting his younger siblings at age seven. (Children can be little brutes, but this was something else, and his mother was right to be disturbed, since he has now murdered her, his little stepbrother and a number of others.) His actions mean that trans identification accounts for 9.1% of Canadian mass shooters since the 1970s (1 out of 11), whereas the '21 census has trans and non-binary at 0.33% of the Canadian population. In the US, where mass shootings are common, the over-representation of trans-identified persons isn't so apparent.

^^^ and then they just keep coming out of the woodwork, including notably non-Canadians who want to use this moment to continue their culture war.

I mean do you refute the fact that a trans person is more likely to have poorer mental health? I don't see how you can they live harder lives on average . its just obvious. I understand not wanting to admit it to lozen but come on. you know that fact is true. The better argument to make is that people like lozen think its mental illness that make them trans. but its trans that makes them have poor mental health. one is not like the other. one is just a fact and a way to support and feel bad for them the other is anti-trans

Actually no I do not think its a mental illness that makes them trans . First off I was pointing out that left wing media was so worried about pronouns like gunperson instead of gunman and the fact they would respect the shooter and use her preferred pronoun . It seemed they cared more about this than the victims. Also I pointed out there have been more trans shooters in the last few years and yes they have been all white as well . I would bet like Elon tweeted when we pump kids full of hormones and drugs that have extreme side effects than this occurs .

I honestly believe there are rare circumstances were a individual is trans but please when you have Hollywood celebrities and parents saying all my children are trans or a parent i have a pan sexual child and a trans child sadly those parents are the problem.

All the more progressive countries in the USA have halted gender affirming care for kids and Canada and the USA should follow. Were also seeing more lawsuits from kids that are now adults and regret their transitions .

This shooting was a tragedy and we need to worry more about the government individual that returned these guns to the family after the RCMP did their job and removed them . That person needs to be fired and if we could charge them instead of worrying about some freaks pronouns .

Do I want to use this tragedy to pivot to some stupid debate about trans people and their poorer mental health? No. I do not.

Hope that helps.

Can you share an example of an article written by the CBC that in any ****ing way at all in any world suggests they care more about pronoun usage than victims? It seems like what happened is they followed their long standing normal editorial policy of referring to trans people by the pronoun they identify with, and you then absolutely lost your ****.

The person who seems to care more about this gender identity politics over the victims is you.

So why are the men and women Canadian curling teams cheating in the Olympics? That's the real question.
