WASHINGTON β€” U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, the top federal prosecutor in the District of Columbia, is facing widespread criticism from conservatives after she said in a Fox News interview Monday that anyone who brings a gun into the nation's capital would face jail time.

"You bring a gun into the district, you mark my words, you're going to jail," Pirro said in the interview. "I don't care if you have a license in another district, and I don't care if you're a law-abiding gun owner somewhere else. You bring a gun into this district, count on going to jail and hope you get the gun back."

Pirro is correct when she talks about "bring in". DC is very strict with gun control. They do not allow any other jurisdiction's carry permits to be used inside DC..... only DC permits. There is no open carry in DC.

Nothin' new here. The is no reciprocity agreements with DC and all other jurisdictions in the country.

It isn't super clear on what he means. I hope you aren't suggesting he is saying we should take all guns from everyone. .

Just leftists, just leftists, settle down.

Tell that to the 2A folks.

The conservative National Association for Gun Rights swiftly came out in opposition to Pirro’s stance, calling her remarks β€œunacceptable and intolerable comments by a sitting US attorney.”

Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, one of the administration’s most frequent critics in the House GOP Conference, also denounced Pirro, writing on social media: β€œWhy is a β€˜conservative’ judge threatening to arrest gun owners?” Reps. Greg Steube (R-Fla.), Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) criticized the U.S. attorney, too, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said β€œSecond Amendment rights are not extinguished just because an American visits DC.”

by biggerboat m

It's their job to overreact where they can for w/e its worth to them. That what they do and you should know that.

Pirro is essentially regurgitating what you cant do to sound tough. She's basically saying you cant carry unless you have a DC permit. Nothing different.

...I mean, everyone is going to spin it to their advantage. You now have people itt thinking Trump is going to take the guns away now.

Just leftists, just leftists, settle down.

I believe violent felons are not currently allowed to legally own a gun and although democrats have become very violent recently (between BLM, threatening supreme court justices and ice riots) I think it is important to distinguish between felons and democrats.

I don't think Trump wants to take guns away; he's plenty happy terrorizing blue cities with ICE and far too concerned with how he can stay in power indefinitely. He'll worry about the small stuff after that.

Sad and rare to see mass school shooting in Canada

why would you quote the dreaded MAINSTREAM MEDIA too???

According to the NRA, more guns would prevent this sort of thing.

In all seriousness, I obviously hope Canada never catches the U.S. mass shooting disease.

Has this been confirmed by a reputable source, such as a Reddit mod or some random YouTuber? You know, since you said CNN, MSNOW, MSN, et al., are all the same and fake news.

Yes it has and some more reputable sources have confirmed the shooter names as Jesse Strang.

So the Canadian shooter comes from a house with 4 siblings and a father who I believe abandoned them?

I found the mom's Facebook and was looking at pictures from 5 years ago, when he was 12 years old. You can tell he looked disturbed ...... The mom at one point posted a picture with like 10 guns, so we know there were numerous guns in the household. There is also a video of the shooter at a gun range at like 13 years old. The shooter also appears to have converted to being a female at some point. The shooter was also on SSRIs at the time of the shooting.

Numerous guns in the house, medications which have unknown side effects, no father, probably being bullied at school because his mom let him transition at such a young age... it all spells a recipe for disaster. In the moms defense she did post on facebook group mentioning that her son had anger issues and was seeking help, at the very least she seemed to be a part of her kids life. Just sad all around.

I was a huge reddit user like a decade ago. The site isnt even recognizable anymore. I guess it was always destined to become a huge echo chamber to push certain narratives. But it started to get really bad when they started banning anyone who disagreed with their point of view, which is why I was banned.

Probably not now, if the two found dead at a local residence were family members.

In 2023 Jesse Strang apparently began identifying as a girl called Jess and changed his YouTube handle from Jesse Boy to JessJessuWu, the last three letters being a fetishistic porn-related reference to anime girls, one of his obsessions. His mother's Facebook suggests he had violent impulses from an early age. Not someone who was safe around guns, but there seem to have been guns in the house.

Was first named as Strang on social media but MSM are reporting the name as Jesse Von Rootselaar, not that it's ultimately significant.

We don't know this and it would be no excuse anyway. This gets close to veiled victim blaming. Wait until more facts come to light and again it's no excuse anyway. Lots of kids get bullied, they don't commit mass murder over it.

worst part is some of the more interesting subs like aiaa just have an echo chamber in the comments calling anything and anyone toxic who needs to be cut off

ie someone posts about hosting thanksgiving and how his mom kinda took over the turkey baking process despite that the kid really wanted to do it themselves since they were hosting and are asking if they are being unreasonable to be upset at mom or if this is just what moms do - try to help out and not quite get that they're preventing independence

and the comments will be nothing but "your mom is toxic, cut her out of your life, never talk to her again"

so i think subs like that which started out as interesting stories intended to be sanity checks and sounding boards just get overwhelmed by terrible people who are broken and assume malice everywhere

likewise the "won't work for clout" type of posts are also now totally overwhelmed by posts of "can you believe this karen asked me if the tv i'm asking $125 for on facebook marketplace could be sold for $100?" and then they get resounding applause in the comments of "f that entitled b, you clearly posted you wanted $125"

Sounds like your big mistake is browsing r/all. The best way to use Reddit is curating your own feed of smaller subs with actual people. The main feeds are absolute trash and filled with bots.

no there's no such thing as a good way to use reddit. the algorithm is too flawed . I mean if you want to find a group of people with a specific view to talk to its fine i guess

There were effectively no mass school shootings in north America in the 1950s 60s or 70s. It all really started with columbine in the 1990s.

The issue is all about the poor culture in modern north America. The school shootings mostly happen in the United States, but occasionally in somewhere like Canada. The rise of pornography, more so the new style like only fans, over prescription of SSRI, the popularization of the marijuana industry. Self hatred of one’s own history. The rise of the weak beta being viewed as cool and edgy by the media and Hollywood.

Back in the era of our parents and grandparents you could just walk right into a school and pick your kid up. Not anymore. And that is the single greatest problem. No amount of security and cameras is going to solve this cultural problem we have. What will solve the issue is a return to a good manners, kindness, tolerance and Honor.

This is completely untrue there were quite a few mass shootings in the 80s and before. Harold Unruh shot dead 13 people in the 50s and there was also Charles Whitman in the 60s and the McDonald's massacre in the 80s. The term going postal probably originated from a mass shooting in the 80s

Those weren't school shootings, which is what was being referred to.

Whitman was technically at a university, but it wasn't at all the same kind of situation as. More recent school shootings.
