The reason I would support more vacations has nothing to do with self interest - as a self-employed person I wouldn't get a paid vacation anyway.
I disagree that giving more benefits to parents would lead to the things you mention. Divorce in particular definitely increases when there is more support given to mothers, as they no longer feel the need to stay with the father of their children.
I'm not sure a "stable society" is even a positive, but I would think that society was more stable a hundred years ago, when there was less public support of parents and children than there is now.
The social safety net destabilizes society is a radical conspiracy. Evidence provided is 1920s were more stable because of less welfare. 1920s USA were a slightly different time to put it mildly. World was ravaged from war, there was alcohol prohibition, women just gained the right to vote.

re divorce: if american women dont want to be married to losers any longer then they should get a divorce.
