I think ad hominems against child molestors who aren't on this forum should be allowed.

No its not. And you seem to be the only one who thinks this is true.

While that is a significant number of different destinations in that time frame, it's still just a sliver of what's out there, and isn't all that representative of flying as a whole. I've been on numerous flights that were completely full, or close to it, and all waiting until the end is going to do is assure you that your carry-on isn't going in the overhead storage, but will have to be checked. And I've also been on a few flights that had quite a bit of space, and even one where they asked for volunteers to move further back on the plane to balance the weight, since there were so few of us on the flight.

For context, that would be flights from Vancouver-Frankfurt, Frankfurt-Palermo, Palermo-Frankfurt, Frankfurt-Toronto, Toronto-Vancouver, a few Abbotsford-Calgary round trips, and one Vancouver-Prince George round trip (the way home was the almost empty flight). But also observation of what's going on at other gates in those airports - plenty of them are very full. And some aren't, of course. Full planes are definitely not rare everywhere, and I suspect not in most places.

That seems really weird when someone has a legit carry-on. If you mean people who have carry-ons and "personal items" well beyond the size limit, I'm with you. But when it's a person's only luggage item, that would of course be "precious" to them.

It stems from when people have a huge personal item (backpack) that should go under the seat in front of them AND a carry-on. They'll announce that since the flight is packed the overhead bins are for carry-ons only and no one listens. So screw em all is my opinion.

Air travelers absolutely suck. The getting in line to board 15 minutes before the gate opens (you have an assigned seat moron) is asinine. And trying to board in group 5 when you're in group 6. Throw those people in jail.

I think you think that when the word 'ad hominem' gets used, that means that someone attack someone character. And that since I am jbouton, the accusation of an ad hominem means that someone said something about jboutons character.

I hate when I time it wrong though and not wait long enough after everyone has gone past the gate and there is still a reasonably long line just around the bend in the tunnel. Always feel like a noob.

I certainly assumed that you were claiming it was an ad hominem attack against you. As far as I know, it has never been against the rules to make an ad hominem attack against a random person who does not post on 2+2.

Here, not so much, since it throws in lots of people doing the right thing with those who suck. But I get the frustration.

Now you're singing my song! I was always a wait until the final call person (or whenever almost everyone is boarded, because I'm not going to hold up the plane) - what the **** is everyone's hurry when we're leaving at exactly the same time? But my wife has gotten me into boarding with our section, since the aforementioned people mean that on full flights, boarding late might mean your bag goes somewhere in the back or even gets checked. She relies on some things in her bag during the flight for health reasons, and while she tries to make sure they are in a personal item under the seat, sometimes **** happens. Plus it sucks when you pack light so you don't have to go retrieve your bag, and then have to anyway because others have managed to bring a bunch of oversize ****.

That said, we go with our section and I try to resist lining up when we haven't been called yet unless it gets crazy. That's the **** I resent like hell - people who have a need to start a lineup for zone 4 when nothing's been called yet, and now if I want to not be the last one on the plane, I have to ****ing line up too, and of course they often line up close to the entrance so people trying to get up there for zone 3 have to weave their way around everyone - ARRGGHH! Just sit the **** down and go up when it's time. Or if you're really eager, stand in the vicinity so you'll be among the first when your section is called, but stay the **** away from the entrance for the gate.

But also, the airlines could do more about this. I'd love to see them announce that boarding won't start until everyone sits down, or at least clears a significant perimeter around the gate entrance. Now that this stupid behaviour has become commonplace, it's never going to change until they put their foot down and normalize...being normal. And some stricter enforcement of carry-on limits would help as well.

The reason thats bad is because its against the good faith of a proper discussion. THATS why it would be 'against the rules'. Thats why its YOUR ROLE TO MODERATE.
