Moderation Questions

Moderation Questions

The last iteration of the moderation discussion thread was a complete disaster. Numerous attempts to keep it on topic failed, and it became a general discussion thread with almost no moderation related posts at all. And those that were posted were so buried in non-mod posts that it became a huge time drain on the mods to sort through them. Then, when off topic posts were deleted posters complained about that.

This led to the closing of the mod discussion thread, replaced by the post report/pm approach. This has filtered out lots of noise, but has resulted at times in the General Discussion Thread turning into a quasi-mod thread. This is not desirable, but going back to the old mod thread is also not a workable option.

Therefore, I have created this new moderation thread, but with a different purpose and ground rules than previous mod threads. The purpose of this thread is to provide a place for posters to pose questions to the mods about how policies are applied; to bring to the mods attention posts they think are inappropriate and reach the level of requiring mod action; and for mods to communicate to posters things like changes or clarifications to policies, bannings, etc.

Now let me tell you what this thread is NOT a place for. It is not for nonmoderation related posts, even if the discussion originates from a comment in in a mod related post. It is not for posters to post their opinions about other posters or whether a poster should be banned. It is not to rehash past grievances about mod decisions from months or years ago. The focus of this thread will be recent posts that require action now. Or questions about current policies and enforcement.

So basically, this is a thread to ask mods questions. Which means, pretty much that only mods should be answering those questions. If a poster asks why a particular post was deleted or allowed, only a mod can answer that. Everyone else who wants to jump in with their opinion or their mod war story needs to stay out of it. It just increases the noise to signal ratio and does nothing to answer the question.

Everyone needs to understand that this thread has very different rules than the old mod thread and any other thread. Any non-moderation post will be deleted on sight. Not moved to the appropriate thread, just deleted. So don't waste your time crafting a masterpiece post about wars or transgender issues or the presidential election and then post it in this thread. It will be gone. Also, this isnt a thread for general commentary about our mods performance. Posting "browser sucks as a mod" or any such posts that don't actually ask about a policy or request a mod action will be deleted. Everyone is entitled to their opinion about the moderation of this forum. But this thread isnt for complaining about mods. You are free to go to the ATF forum and make your concerns about modding in this forum there.

So with that intro, this thread is open for those who need to bring questions about mod policies or bring inappropriate posts to the mods attention. Again, it is NOT a thread for group discussions about other posters or for other posters to answer questions directed to mods.

We'll see how this goes. If you have what you feel is an open issue raised in the General Discussion Thread, please copy that post or otherwise reintroduce the issue here.

Thanks.

So they both disregarded the tariff threat? Did they mention anything pre election about congress? You can avoid progressives having any power with a divided government anyway, did they think about splitting their ticket?

I didn't talk to them about Congress. I haven't asked, but I suspect that Trump has gone harder on tariffs that they expected. They probably thought he would back off on the tariffs relatively quickly and claim victory

So, rich and selfish it is then.

Yes, more or less.

My Repub family.... almost all with better than average intellect..... are one-issue voters. Anti-abortion.

At least their consistent in their believes . Personally I am pro choice but I understand folks that are not

Do you respect them for that stance ?

It seems to show a lack of intelligence to only care about that single issue.

Being born doesn't really help babies very much if they come into a world where they or their parents are likely to die from crime, starvation, global warming, nuclear war, ethnic cleansing, etc.

More people here need to direct their skepticism and suspicion toward themselves. Rightly determining which values should be prioritized is very difficult.

(The intellect is unable to do it. Wisdom is required. It’s not even mainly an information / knowledge issue either.)

Otherwise, you are primarily acting on bio-social forces that may or may not be in accordance with what reality is currently demanding.

Also no idea what universe this is "close to average" but like I said, no accounting for taste.

Like you said, to each their own, but I'm not really into cross-eyed chicks.

Alright, I didn’t want to have to do this but…

Ugly pile for you

“The actual game is too difficult to figure out how to play well, so I’m just going to pretend this simpler game where my side is right is the actual game.”

How do you guys live with yourselves when you pull this move?

I couldn’t live with the past version of myself doing this when I noticed it.

Should I start calling out people by name who are guilty of this?

The list will be long..

Rick roll drop it this is a 9/10 girl

this is what she actually looks like, attractive yes, but not someone i'd go out of my way to flirt with at a party

by Rococo k

Several of the smartest people i know voted for Trump. My comment wasn't based on his preference for Trump.

i keep telling you roc, i didn't vote for him

by chillrob k

If age is irrelevant to attractiveness in your book, it's odd that you can only think of young women.

I don't think that's the solution. Only thing I can think of is he's just into women we wouldn't find attractive.

Imagine seeing that and passing.

I don't buy it for a second. I mean, I'm 49, this is so far out of my league it's depressing, but that's as near to perfection as it's going to get on this planet, my friends.

And she's hysterical. And a GD lawyer.

isn't that fixed already (for the part that the federal government can fix for them)? or it is basically about possible future SCOTUS appointments?

plot twist now would be finding out she isn't vaxxed for COVID

I don't think you can conclude that someone is smart based on their preference in ideology. I do think you can conclude that someone is smart based on how how they argue their politics. I think it is very difficult to conclude that someone is stupid based on how they argue their politics.

Or to say it another way. Stupid politics isn't necessarily a sign of a stupid person. MAGA is an exceptionally stupid ideology that celebrates its own willful ignorance and lack of consistency, but there are pl

You're reading too much into my assessment; one of these putative geniuses can't read and write at a 3rd grade level, and the other one thinks that space lasers brought down the twin towers on 9/11 and analyses ear pictures of public figures to identify clones/impostors, amongst other things.

ETA: Have now finished catching up on the thread and saw you answered my question already, but leaving this post up as a record of my initial reaction.

Rickroll, this might be a good time to remind everyone that you were laying the pipe to different 10s every night for twenty years, so that they understand where you're coming from here.

Suspiciously keeping her elbows out of view.

There are so many on both sides, but a good example from the radical , pro-Hamas left is this

She is Rula Jebreal, Israeli-Italian of palestinian origins

Top level grifter, lives in NYC and writes for Wapo and NYT, material supporter of terror and radical marxist when she talks about italian politics (far to the left of our "democratic party" equivalent which is already to the left of the american democratic party).

The photo was her 5 years ago at 46. Not a staged photo, just a still from a tv a

I'd throw it in her!

To each their own. No idea why you would find that so hilarious, but sure. She's drop dead gorgeous in my book.

No no, that’s what you’re not getting. We’d never **** you in a million lifetimes.
