whereas I, mongidig, have the choice of thousands of online cam girls. Go me!

I'm pretty sure that CN has said that she has a husband and at least one kid.

I thought she said she was a single-mother, but I wouldn't trust my memory enough to remember what city I live in.

It seems like I prefer female poets and male novelists.

And I like female dogs and male cats.

I don't think that I could generalize about whether I prefer male or female novelists, artists, etc. But if we are talking about punk, punk-adjacent, or new wave music, I much prefer female vocalists.

These comparisons are reetarded. They also prove that you don't take misogyny seriously if you're going to compare it to a dude eating broccoli.

Can you show me where I compared misogyny to anything?

hint: I compared the question to another question. It's incredible how bad at comprehension you have to be to think that I compared misogyny to anything.

by geezerchess m

That might be the worst analogy I've ever seen in my life.

LOL could have chosen from among dozens (hundreds?) of coaches and financial advisors, and he chose women.

It's not like Trump choosing women to his cabinet, which could easily be for political optic purposes.

The guy could've chosen from HUNDREDS of different foods and he chose to entrust his health to BROCCOLI!

The guy could've chosen from HUNDREDS of different ways to reach his destination but he chose to entrust his life to AN AIRPLANE.

The comparisons are valid. They illustrate PERFECTLY the point. Sometimes you choose things for reasons other than whether you like them or not.

How about you answer this for me: do you have to LIKE your doctor? Is it reasonable to choose a heart surgeon who is an ***hole but has a 100% success rate over a 20+ year career? Is it reasonable to choose a specialist that you don't like but your insurance will cover in network when you can't afford a different one?

Dude, the idea that a misogynist would NEVER have any other considerations but OMG I HATE WOMEN SO NO is so simple-minded it's stunning.

Listen, I get why individual posters might feel personally implicated and attacked when I (or others) critique a system that you’re all a part of, but it’s far more important to recognize that almost all feminist critiques focus on structures and patterns rather than individuals. The point isn’t that you, specifically, are to blame, but that systems like patriarchy shape behavi

how is this reconciled when many feminists worked for the system? Gloria Steinham proudly worked for the CIA.

Phase One: CN makes provocative post.

Phase Two: Said post gets lots of pushback.

Phase Three: CN chooses to abandon the discussion.

Just like a woman!!

Unmarried cat ladies are one of the creepiest demographics. They are basically female incels who realize no guy will ever want to be with them so they just keep acquiring cats. They have given up trying to find a human partner. We often say I bet that weirdo owns a bunch of cats and we end up being close to 100% correct. It's probably true that a happily married man is happier

Your view of women and human sexuality is gross and creepy

Hint: racists do not have true friendships with people with whom they are racist against. You are conflating someone being friendly towards someone in order to gain something from them with being friends with them. You should be able to figure out the rest from there, but probably not, so...

To compare female contempt to the contempt of broccoli is illustrating that you think misogyny is a joke. Sorry, brah, go have some cheeseburgers.

The guy could've chosen from HUNDREDS of different foods and he chose to entrust his health to BROCCOLI!

Liking some vegetables better than other vegetables is categorically different than choosing a health coach of a financial advisor, which involves trust and respect for the person. Folks don't generally have conversations with their broccoli spears.

The guy could've chosen from HUNDREDS of different ways to reach his destination but he chose to entrust his life to AN AIRPLANE.

This is so bad it's funny!! How many realistic options for travel does someone have who has to travel from Los Angeles to Boston? Or even from Los Angeles to San Francisco by the next morning?

The comparisons are valid. They illustrate PERFECTLY the point. Sometimes you choose things for reasons other than whether you like them or not.

Not valid comparisons at all in my humble opinion.

Try harder to miss the point. Broccoli is good for your health, yeah? Who said anything about talking to your broccoli? JFC dude. Choosing a financial advisor could come down to a LOT of factors: 1) you want the best (you don't have to like them), 2) you want what you can afford (you don't have to like them), 3) you want one in your area (you don't have to like them), 4) your wife chose them (you don't have to like them), 5) someone you know personally (you don't have to like them).

NONE of them require you to LIKE the financial advisor. I don't understand why you don't understand that.

That's the whole point. SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU LIKE THEM. You pick the best tool for the job. Get it yet?

Sad. It becomes easier and easier to see how Trump fools so many people every day.

by Gorgonian m

How about you answer this for me: do you have to LIKE your doctor?

No. You have to trust your doc, but not necessarily like your doctor.

That said, if I have a choice from among otherwise equally qualified doctors, I would choose one I liked.

Is it reasonable to choose a heart surgeon who is an ***hole but has a 100% success rate over a 20+ year career?

Absolutely!

Is it reasonable to choose a specialist that you don't like but your insurance will cover in network when you can't afford a different one?

Absolutely!

Dude, the idea that a misogynist would NEVER have any other considerations but OMG I HATE WOMEN SO NO is so simple-minded it's stunning.

But the context was choosing from among many choices. If there are many qualified health coaches in my area of more-or-less equal competence, I will choose one that I like. In that scenario, I doubt a true misogynist would choose a woman over an equally-qualified man.

You've gone full petard. No one who hates broccoli eats it if they have hundreds of other foods to choose from that they like and also meet the same nutritional standard. I could go on with the other analogies, but you should get the idea.

Funny that you (and df above) added or insinuated "equally qualified" to all of these choices, when it was never implied, isn't it?

Actually, I think a misogynist who loves money more than he hates women would choose a woman financial advisor if she was best for that job.

Actually, I think a misogynist who loves money more than he hates women would choose a woman financial advisor if she was best for that job.

Holy crap! Progress.

And a veggie-hater who is trying to be healthy would choose to eat veggies. And a person who hates flying that needed to get from point A to point B quickly would choose to fly. And a misogynist who wanted the best doctor would choose the best doctor even if they were female.

My comparisons were valid and my initial answer was correct.

This is why "I have black friends" is mocked as a ridiculous answer to racist allegations. Because it is a toddler-level understanding of the world. Just like saying "full petard" is a childish way of insulting someone while mocking disabled people. Especially when you beg for attention by doing it like 4 posts in a row. There you go, I acknowledged it so you can strut around or whatever you plan to do.

by geezerchess m

Actually, I think a misogynist who loves money more than he hates women would choose a woman financial advisor if she was best for that job.

True. If you can first convince him that she's the best for the job. It's obvious Gorgo hasn't met any real misogynists or maybe he's one himself, dunno.

by Gorgonian m

Funny that you (and df above) added or insinuated "equally qualified" to all of these choices, when it was never implied, isn't it?

I thought it was implied, which is why I kept focusing on a scenario in which there are many options available.

Like I said in my previous post (which you may not have read since it was a response to LOL), a misogynist who loves money more than he hates women would choose the best financial advisor even if the best one was a woman.

by geezerchess m

I thought it was implied, which is why I kept focusing on a scenario in which there are many options available.

No. It was never implied at any point. Not only that, all things are never equal in cases like that. I listed many such "exceptions" (location, cost, insurance, etc.).

I'm satisfied with my contribution to this topic. Rather than monopolize the board further with this nonsense, I'll bow out. Feel free to lob rotten veggies at where I was in my absence.

I'm just describing reality. I guess reality is "gross and creepy" too you.

I'm pretty lucky too have many choices. It helps that I have a great personality and I'm pretty easy on the eyes. I also have plenty of money if that's what it takes.

Saying that you’re β€œjust describing reality” is begging the question

+1 for the correct usage of begging the question.

Look up the word petard. Tell me what that has to do with disabled people.
