No I fully except that people get satisfaction from it. As long as they don't get to pretend it's to be taken seriously or is protected against tone policing then consenting adults.

Pile ons are bad and should be taken seriously as they are somewhat orchestrated to intimidate or harass, but one on one attacks are fine and are often seen in face to face debate too.

I tend to agree although we all different lines on what attacks are acceptable and/or reasonable.

Negative has to be part of the striuggle but when it dominates then that's a catastrophie for everyone except the likes of trump etc. 80:20 positive to negative sounds ok to me but 80:20 the other way is game over territory.
