Its not my party and leaders lead in times like this, they aren't picked

AOC or Buttigeg are front runners for leading but I highly doubt America swings violently to woman of color or gay dude after the blatantly racist and misogynistic rejection of Kamala

Not sure why you think being gay would be a problem, we are already at a point where being gay is a non-issue in the sense it isn't even talked about as "strange" anymore, Bessent (secretary of the treasury) is gay and nobody cares he is.

Buttigeg would have problems uniting democrats though especially if he moves to the center to try to win national elections, as even while gay (which again, these days is not a progressive hallmark anymore), he is almost everything "progressives" and "real leftists" hate about politicians.

Gay would be a problem real quick if a gay Democrat was running for president. Its what you guys do.

Sure, which is why the first time an indian (from India, not american native) candidate ever run for president for the democrats there was absolutely 0 anti-indian racism and the VP pick for republicans was a guy married with... an indian woman.

Are you talking about Vivek?

by coordi m

Are you talking about Vivek?

I am talking about Vance having half-indian children with his indian wife. Harris was the first indian candidate of any major party for the presidency. There was no anti-indian racism.

There was anti-black racism ....

And we've seen many examples of white supremacists using Indian/Asian spouses to curtail the accusations that they are white supremacists.

I'd dare say its relatively common. Indians come from a racist classist society

That's like saying vegetarians eat steaks to curtail accusations they are vegetarians.

Words have no meaning anymore

No its really not. Everyone is just smarter about being a blatant piece of ****.

Its like how you guys insist if we say "nazi" we mean 1943 goose stepping jews to the gas chamber when things have changed in the last 80 years and you know this very well. Sometimes you just don't like what words mean

Like, conservative values of the past have been rejected consistently over the last 70 years and they have to redress the concepts over and over to find something that sticks. This smarmy stand for nothing wishy washy horse **** is what has stuck, because nuance is dead and critical thinking is being culled from society. Will society reflexively pull its hand from the stove or will it go full idiocracy?

Explain Obama than ?

by lozen m

Explain Obama than ?

Obama was exceptionally charismatic during a time of decorum and he still faced unprecedented levels of racism.

Much of that racism was levied by our current president. Much of that racism at that time probably worked in his favor.

Yes, Trump normalized being a racist piece of ****. I commented as much on this forum back in 2018 or whatever it was when I was still just trolling around as an apolitical person. The political landscape is literally unrecognizable compared to 2012

AOC... the Economist.

So your saying that the fact that Trump claimed he wasn't born here was racism ? It was deplorable that he did that but is it racism. Funny thing is I saw that many of the Jan 6th protesters voted for Obama that were featured in Nancy Pelosi's daughters documentary on Jan 6th

Kamala was a weak candidate and yes some folks may not be ready for a woman leader but its not why she lost

Seems like you didn't understand my post where I said Kamala was doing extraordinarily well before she turned to rhetoric which expressed animosity towards the popular agenda in favor of elites.

The Left is not going to back careerists opportunists like AOC or Buttigieg. We know these people are absolute fraudsters and clear enemies of progressive policies. What's up with Democrat leadership where they run someone, that someone is soundly rejected, and then they turn around and try to ram the person down the electorate's throat yet again?

Deuce do you live in the real world and realize that in order to have a chance to win elections you need a candidate that will get voted by people making 110k/year who like capitalism and don't give a **** about Gaza and trans people, or do you live in fantasy?

lol say what? Is this a joke? You think a lot of the blatant racists/misogynists you speak of wouldn't have proudly voted for Donald Trump (himself a misogynistic racist) if the Dems put a straight white guy there?

Anyway, CIA Pete is probably gonna be the dude in 2028. I can't wait to not vote again!

by lozen m

So your saying that the fact that Trump claimed he wasn't born here was racism

Fred and Donald Trump were residential landlords throughout the 70s and 80s, and they were found (in court; this is all documented) to have severely disproportionately refused applications for tenancy from black citizens. They would write a little code on the application to indicate "black person" so that nobody else in their operation would lease a home to black applicants.

Is this racist, lozen?

AOC... the Economist.

It's a good definition of US capitalism since the neoliberal update.

It’s discrimination but I would agree it is racist but that was in the 70s and 80s people can change . He has appointed African Americans to high level positions as well as a gay man
I have a friend that owns 50 properties and he prefers to rent to the Filipino community because they take pride in the home . He says worst tenants young white males is that so he avoids them

Joe Biden was instrumental in getting laws in place that targeted blacks and put them in jail and last year referred to LL Cool J as boy a racist term
Is Joe Biden racist ?

Trump is deplorable I agree but

Seems like you didn't read my posts concerning Obama. Obama ran on a popular progressive agenda and he won. That's a data point you need to reconcile whenever you get going on about "the real world".

That anybody would even utter Buttigieg's name can only be the result of a successful disorientation of the traditional Democrat voting block. This guy will never, ever...ever ever ever be elected president. Christ it's like everyone has brain worms now. This isn't even the guy you put up when you secretly want to lose because it would be too obvious you want to lose.

It's like the Democrats simply refuse to believe that Obama was elected in 08 based on the popularity of his policy platform. No, they insist, it was because he was black. There are no presentable black guys in the bin so lets start looking for that next identity politics miracle.

But all you really have to do is run a white dude who has half a brain, says he will do progressive things, and finesses on the trans woke stuff. That simple recipe will destroy whatever creature from the Star Wars bar scene the GOP puts forward. But if you really like fascism and you want to be in the era of lets see what happens when we take a hammer to everything then, by all means, keep PEte Buttigieg's name in your mouth.

What was "progressive" in 2008 is conservative today.

Do you realize progressivism already accomplished everything normal people agreed with and now there is no need for absolutely any other radical change in society according to the median voter?

The real world works like that, Obama gets elected and he uses drones to assassinate extra judicially hundreds of people including at least an American citizen and he is popular anyway.

That's the real world

It's kinda hard to sift through this but I think I get it. He would make a fantastic president. He's smart as hell and speaks well. But, yeah, what I like in a president isn't necessarily who can win. Which is painfully obvious to me now.

I still don't think we'll get a chance to vote for anyone at all, but I'd be interested in who of the names being tossed around do you think would be viable?
