ex-President Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
and here we go.....

WASHINGTON — Federal employees received emails Wednesday warning that they could face repercussions if they do not report on co-workers who work in diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility positions that might have gone unnoticed by government supervisors.
I'm a little surprised today's reactions to the J6 pardons hasn't had any discussion, unless I missed it. Probably says something about where things are now - hard to shock anyone at this point, I guess.

Biden's guilty of some shitty pardons on his way out, but I'd say this has one-upped his shittiness.
"We'll take a look at everything" - dude, you already p
What is there to be shocked about he said he was going to do it and he did . Most of these folks have served their time and are out. Yes there were some that had lengthy sentences and had them commuted . There is a bit of talk in the Jan6th thread but I agree very little discussion. Comparing these pardon's to Joes is insane. Joe Biden's pardon are way worse and include a judge that sentenced kids to jail for cash, a guy that killed two FBI agents and a child trafficker and the list goes on . Im fine with him pardoning his son but to give him a blanket pardon dating back to the first day he started at Burisma along with his whole family and spouses . NO that doesn't make you look guilty at all
There is a really good Documentary by Nancy Pelosi's daughter called The Insurrectionist Next Door on HBO that goes in depth into a bunch of the insurrectionists . Amazes me that many voted for Obama than switched to Trump
I was kinda heartened he pardoned Ross Ulbricht actually, as I felt his sentence was way too harsh. His Mam must have been overjoyed to get the news
i'd just prefer to know i was failing at things due to my own inabilities rather than being marginalized in order to promote other groups, and that's a terrible feeling that sticks with you, i could very well be failing all on my own without outside forces impacting me, i could indeed be in the bottom quintile and just oblivious to that, but due to these dynamics, i'll never be able to know for sure and over time that builds resentment
This is a legit issue and I appreciate your sharing. The thing is that same resentment and anger you feel about unequal treatment is literally being mirrored by minority individuals all the time as well. And while there are no shortage of high profile examples like the LAFD to cite as failures, there’s also countless examples of discrimination in hiring, housing, etc. that are still going on every day even with all the DEI emphasis of the past couple decades.
I’m not saying I know what the best level or approach to diversity rules is, or that the way it was for the past 10 years is necessarily the best. But it’s clear that you’re going to have favoritism one or another and pissed off resentful people one way or another.
I very much doubt that the current administrations approach is going to come anywhere close to a desirable balance. They literally just set up an email address for all federal employees to snitch on someone if they suspected they were “doing DEI” in violation of the administration’s position. And if you know about DEI going on and don’t report it, you could be punished. Sounds like a great work environment for morale. Your black coworker got a promotion and you didn’t? Report that immediately. Or how about if you are the minority and don’t even want to apply because you’re worried someone will report it if you get it? That sounds insane, but it will definitely happen.
Very soon there will be lawsuits alleging that government contracts were obtained by fraud because the recipient company has DEI policies and the government is requiring companies NOT to have them to obtain those contracts. I’m sure the people filing these lawsuits will all be highly conscientious actors with the best intentions.
Anyways, the point is, your feelings about this are legit but this reaction is nutso, imo.
How many people died from drug overdoses with substances obtained from the silk road?
Wasn't he also accused of roles in murder for hire plots as well?
a couple. i don't think i've seen lawsuits against manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, website creators of people that have died from overdoses of over the counter drugs.
yes accused. not proven guilty. that charge was dismissed. 2 FBI agents are in jail for lying and stealing during the investigation.

He was never actually formally charged with the hits though was he? I think it was going to be complicated to try him on it as the whole thing was just a scam. 7,000 BTC he got swindled for.

OTC drugs have regulations and instructions
Overdosing on tylenol is a little different than someone buying MDMA on the silk road then getting rhabdo and dying
he made an open bazaar site where people could buy and sell whatever they wanted. they actually did have restrictions on items such as weapons and child porn. think it was up to the mods to remove such listings.
what am i missing?

He wasn't charged but this was taken into consideration when sentencing him, which is what I had an issue with, as you shouldn't effectively get a harsher sentence influenced by something you haven't been charged with.

begone with 'innocent until proven guilty'
we're not going to charge you with attempted murder, or conspiracy to kill, we're gonna get you on a jaywalking offence, and when it comes to sentencing, we'll tell the judge you also tried to kill someone so you can get a double life sentence + 40 years.
imagine the smell if trump does this to someone.
Why do you think that? I definitely think there are other places more racist than the US. Are there people here that don't think that?
Yeah, no shot America is the most racist country in the world. I think the better question is what percentile is America as a country on the racist scale.

"We'll take a look at everything" - dude, you already pardoned them. Too late.
And then there was the hilarious parade of Republicans who wouldn't comment because they "didn't see it", or they're "
It is likely some of these numbskulls thought political violence is ok after seeing the gov't allow the BLM riots. I think all who damaged property, ruined people's livelihoods or hurt others in the name of political violence should have had to face the music but the disparity in punishments between BLM and 1/6 was too great.

Dont forget the Okahoma and Tennessee capitals attacks compared to January 6 protest. The Tenn one literally had that representative Justin Jones or whatever involved, the dude was also involved with black supremacist hate groups
Also the 2011 Wisconsin capital attack

Major difference is that J6 rioters were lied to by the POTUS about the election results. It was not stolen. Trump lost. There was no conspiracy to steal the election. Trump lit the fuse on these tards and set them loose.
BLM riots were because a black guy got murdered by a white cop. POTUS wasn't involved.

Almost as if the DEI approach doesn't work, because it produces a top-down self-serving elitist we-know-best bureaucracy whose interests depend on setting different social groups at one another's throats, and on discrimination in every aspect of life.
Martin Luther King looked forward to a day when people were judged not on the colour of their skin but on the content of their character. DEI is flat against Dr King's view.
It looks bad that Trump struck down the LBJ anti-discrimination order, but DEI made a mockery of it anyway, because discrimination (and segregation -- for DEI purposes, people have to be segregated into ghettoised boxes behind the barbed wire of mutual suspicion and recrimination) is what DEI is all about.
