In other news
In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there are important, interesting or just plain weird things happening out there and a group of people can find these better than one.
I thought I would test with a thread for linking general news articles about "other news" and discussion. Perhaps it goes into the abyss that is page 2 and beyond, but it is worth a try.
Some guidelines:
- Try to find the "clean link", so that links to the news site directly and not a social media site. Avoid "amp-links" (google).
- Write some cliff notes on what it is about, especially if it is a video.
- It's not an excuse to make outlandish claims via proxy or link extremist content.
- If it's an editorial or opinion piece, it is polite to mark it as such.
- Note the language if it is not in English.
- There is no demand that such things be posted here, if you think a piece merits its own thread, then make one.

Immigrants are rioting in Milan because a young adult immigrant died when pursuit by police after he didn't stop at a police block point.
He died on a scooter because the driver made a mistake while fleeing not because of police violence btw.
We have rioters burning down a neighborhood right now.
None of them are ethnically (3+ grandparents) Italians.
This is the kind of stuff that simply should never possibly happen in our countries, at any cost.
Fyp, I don't want you to think that there is a "we" or "our" that is appropriate. Funny, that the guy so stuck on proper pronoun use makes this mistake.
My country is part of an empire, the american empire, if you sneeze we catch the cold.
You have nuclear weapons in military bases in my country.
But anyway even if you don't accept that, there are many countries in the EU and we do share border policy.
Accept the free will of your country. Also accept that I chose not to be associated with you in regard to your anti immigrant rant even though you intended to include America in your proclamation.
You should listen to this voice more than the others:

Immigrants rioting in an Italian major city without that being crushed in a way that scares them forever to even try it again does affect me and my family directly, as we live in an Italian major city with disproportionate amount of immigrants (vs national numbers).
You can choose not to give a **** but that is not what you chose as you answered me on that.
You are the only poster here that thinks the appropriate response to an immigrant "riot" is to crush them so they never, ever, even consider "rioting" again. Despite your tyrannical oppressive views being laughed at every time you post them, you tried to claim all countries should be as reactive as you. That is what I objected to and continue to reject that we should find your solution appropriate.
That damn mask ruling in California or traffic in Vegas effects me how?
Send this guy out there.
Last year I stayed at my uncle's, who lives around 27 miles away from the center of Florence, a pretty small town with a population of around 9k. He is, Luciom, what you'd call an Italian communist, and even he was surprised -so was I- by the number of Arab immigrants there. The ratio was probably 2.5 Italians to 1 immigrant.
My question is: how is it possible to try any sort of integration if you bring so many people who come from a VASTLY different culture and put them all in a small town?
I want to be clear that I'm not against immigration as long as it has the interests of the country -and its people- in mind.
I met one guy from Tunisia who had fully integrated and spoke fluent Italian, if all immigrants were like him I'd be all for open borders, sadly we know that Tunisian lad doesn't reflect the mindset of the average immigrant.
Regarding the riots my wording wouldn't be "crush them so they never do it again" but rather deport them: there's no place for violent immigrants in a peaceful democracy. They not only are harmful for the native population, they also tarnish the reputation of well-behaved immigrants who want a better life and to live peacefully.
Remember that tyrannically oppressing any opposition toward the power is how you defend real freedom and isn’t a fascist reaction ….
Fascism happens when there is a refusal to keep law&order within democratic means , and people lives are so ruined by that, they find fascism as the only option to fix what should never have happened to begin with.
Not only it is not tyrannical to use the violence of the state withing constitutional limits to the maximum extent to protect bodies and property of citizens, it is *tyrannical not to do that*.
Tyranny by omission.
Just plain stupid as a concept but that's what happens when you just make it up.
F*ck you Michael Byrd...
Dude, pick one thread for these, not 3 please
Nop , fascist take power by force , oppressed and kill its political opponents and then democracies dies because no more political opposition (your true freedom of speech you keep defending represented by a unique opinion/voice) exist …..
