In other news
In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there are important, interesting or just plain weird things happening out there and a group of people can find these better than one.
I thought I would test with a thread for linking general news articles about "other news" and discussion. Perhaps it goes into the abyss that is page 2 and beyond, but it is worth a try.
Some guidelines:
- Try to find the "clean link", so that links to the news site directly and not a social media site. Avoid "amp-links" (google).
- Write some cliff notes on what it is about, especially if it is a video.
- It's not an excuse to make outlandish claims via proxy or link extremist content.
- If it's an editorial or opinion piece, it is polite to mark it as such.
- Note the language if it is not in English.
- There is no demand that such things be posted here, if you think a piece merits its own thread, then make one.
Agreed... it should have been easy to see those landing lights.
What's weird is that the helicopter is clearly flying lower and lower, then suddenly it begins to rise and then levels off right before th3 explosion. To me, it looks like the helicopter is tracking the plane until contact... no conspiracy implied

The helicopter can't really see the lights as well as we did in the camera and it's harder to see traffic at night over a large city full of lights.
Helicopters have their own arrival and departure routes so it looks like a communications issue, either the Blackhawk was cleared for his departure when he shouldn't have been or he may have gotten permission to proceed at his own risk where it would have been his responsibility to see and avoid other traffic but no matter who's at fault, you have to feel sorry for the air traffic controller and what he's likely going through right now whether it was his fault or not since it was his frequency.
I wouldn't really think about any conspiracies until we hear if anyone of significance was on board ... It looks like it was an army Blackhawk that came from CIA headquarters with 3 souls on board
Just heard the helicopter was on a 'training flight', at night, near the airport.

Tragic
pb, what are your thoughts here where it's something you actually know quite a bit about and have a very measured and non-conspiratorial response
I can’t believe that two planes within a 150 ft of each other is standard ?
especially at night

The first thing I noticed is the departure he was on requires him to be no higher than 200 feet, but he was at 350. The controller did call him and I disagree with what the media's saying about him not responding to the tower. Just because we can't hear him, it sounded like the controller did, or the controller wouldn't of said in his second call to him "PAT25 pass behind him". If he never heard back from him the first time, his 2nd transmission would of been "PAT25 how do you hear?" while vectoring off the CRJ to avoid a potential collision, he wouldn't of said "pass behind him" and the tone in his voice also tells me he heard back from him the first time. The problem is whoever was streaming the audio didn't have an antenna high enough to pick up the helicopter's transmission since he was very low and out of the receiver's line of sight, so I'm pretty confident the controller heard back him but It appears he was looking at something else and thought it was the traffic he was supposed to pass behind. The controller didn't call out the position of the CRJ so I think the controller did a HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE job, but that's just me. He non-shulantly said in his first transmission to him "PAT25, do you have the CRJ in sight?"... I think, even though the helicopter is the final authority to see and avoid traffic, that one little sentence may have lead to the accident. (ATC Audio, this was edited to remove dead air)
If I was in that tower as the local controller, I would of called out that traffic A LOT differently. I would of said "PAT25 TRAFFIC AT YOUR 10 O'CLOCK AND A HALF MILE DECENDING OUT OF 400 IS A CRJ ADVISE YOU HAVE THE TRAFFIC IN SIGHT" I wouldn't of been so laid back and casually said "PAT25 do you see the CRJ lalala la la?" without even telling him where to look.
I think the helicopter was looking at someone else thinking it was the CRJ in question, and that's when the controller instructed him to follow behind him. I know there's a shortage of controller right now but if people can't do their job correctly and efficiently they should maybe find something else to do.
Another thing is the media is saying the helicopter was on a training flight (it doesn't mean they're teaching the pilot how to fly, basically whenever a military aircraft is flying but not involved in an official mission or attack, it's called a training flight/mission) but he was using the PAT callsign, which stands for Priority Air Transport. This is used when they're shuttling someone of high importance, like a high ranking military officer, a gov't official, a congressman, etc. I don't think they'd be using it for training, but I'm not fully sure.
Donald Trump is sounding like the conspiracy theorist here:
Separate water fountains coming soon.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Defense Department’s intelligence agency has paused observances of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Pride Month, Holocaust Days of Remembrance and other cultural or historical annual events in response to President Donald Trump’s ban on diversity, equity and inclusion programs in the federal workplace.
President Trump is about to hold a press conference regarding the mid air collision.
I'm interested to see if he has anything to say about the controller, and if any of his advisors told him he sounded incompetent and agrees with my assessment of the accident ...
Broken YouTube LinkI thought hegseth was horrible, but this kash patel is a piece of work. GG us.
Only the best people.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist either, but they do have that capability (not that I see any evidence of it).
I was shown a video of the crash taken from the Capitol building, and it appeared the helicopter was climbing into the flight path (the video Trump was referring to) but I can't find it anywhere online.
