POG PUB 2024: A New Year, A New Thread, A New You
It was an honor to spend 2o23 with yall. And I look forward to spending 2o24 here too.
Happy New Year!
lol as if I'm gonna live that long
Tonight, I was at Walmart buying a turkey for Thanksgiving. I noticed that many of the smaller turkeys were missing their price tags... Which made buying a smaller turkey a PITA. On the way home it dawned on me probably why - Damn people were tag switching the small and large turkeys. 😡
People are the worst.
It's hard to soar with the eagles when you're surrounded by frozen little turkeys.
Amp, you talked about and recommended reading Jorge Luis Borges years ago, and I wanted to tell you that over the years he has become one of my favorite writers ever. I'm surprised that he's not more widely known in the US. Him and Kafka bring just the right amount of dread and absurdity for my taste

happy genocide day!
My phone that is only 15 months old won't charge. I've tried new chargers, different outlets, cleaning the charging port, nothing works--and the repair place I took it to first said they can't replace the charging port for me.
I'm so annoyed. Anyone know what I should do to get my Google Pixel 7a charging again?

Try a wireless charger? Did it have an intermittent issue that got worse or just out of the blue it stopped charging?

Hell yeah!
I'm sure you heard Pat Martino passed. I replaced my copy of his autobiography, iirc I sent my old copy to you.
My latest Borges book is his poetry in Spanish. Here's one about Spinoza.
Free of metaphor and myth
he works a stubborn crystal: the infinite
map of The One who is all His stars.
Literally went from no issues in the morning to wouldn't even pretend to start charging later that same day. I'm baffled.
Wireless charger is an interesting idea. Thank you!
If you don't have a wireless charger, couple of free places that have wireless chargeing options: test at an Apple store or any tesla car or even your phone store (Verizon, T-mobile, att etc)
Also do a "hard" reboot by holding the power button for 4-7 seconds. There may be another reboot option evolving holding power and one of the volume buttons but you'll need to google that

On the positive side of things, if you put them together your physical mental health could be viewed as a 10/10!

♥
But in all seriousness, filthy, I hope that you see some improvement on the mental side soon. I know the struggle is real.

I was diagnosed by a psychiatrist with Autism and ADHD-C last year, along with the usual anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
Getting medications targeted to these conditions has improved my mental health incredibly. I was having basically autistic meltdowns and was barely able to stay on task to get any work done.
Lexapro and Strattera (and hella weed) keep me in a good place. As we get older, things can become more difficult.
I had to figure out the autism thing myself and ask for evaluations, no one is going to figure this stuff for you. I scored 40 on a test that says you're autistic if you score over 26.
They didn't know about autism when I was a kid. I took an IQ test at age 4 to get into kindergarten early. I remember taking this test and some of the questions on it. I was annoyed because the question wanted me to rotate a shape in my head but I have never been able to visualize internally.
Now they'd be like this kid is ****ing autistic here is a bunch of medication and here is how to raise him. Back then they just hit you with a belt.
I've always been against psychiatric medication and it had never worked for me when I tried it. Turns out, I just needed the right ones.
Well, maybe
I've wondered if psychedelics could help dogs with extreme behavior issues.
But not just the correct drugs, the correct framework in which to understand what kind of a thing I am and how to engineer myself. Everything makes sense now, the extreme alienation, obsession, explosive anger, social ineptitude. My first memories are of being uncomfortable and different.
I made my mom teach me how to read in my late 3s. She was like, I have no idea how to teach you. So I said look, you know how to read. Sit here and tell me what you're doing and I'll be able to do it. And she did and I was. Oh, just sound it out? Great, where's the encyclopedias!
Dad's approach was trying to make me obey. When I was two, he wanted me to sit on a stool for two minutes as a punishment for being excited. I wouldn't sit on the ****ing stool, so he'd hit me and put me back on the stool. And I'd get back up. And I won. He never made me sit on that ****ing stool and to this day I can't stand for any man to tell me what to do. So all my doctors are women, otherwise I won't listen to them.
You have to know what kind of a thing you are.
Maybe that's what you need!

Not buy Google phone next time?
I don't know but I have the pixel 8a and feel like it has many flaws.
May switch to a different phone next time
My wife bought a Samsung S22 Ultra for me for Christmas!
(It might have involved me placing the online order and handing her the box... 😀)
