Codenames for Suckers
Anyone (preferably who hasn't played in ages/ever and sucks at it like myself) fancy a game of Codenames?
Or regulars if no-one new wants to play and you'll just have to hope i'm not on your team 😃
alright it seems our list was off
Fish
Face
Card
Pool
is what's left of our list with 5 left to go for cake
goggles - 0 seems to suggest both face and pool are not ours too
leaving fish and card and we have to figure out 3 more.
though we can only guess 1 now, I think fish is an omegalock.
fish
card
drop???
tie?
is it a term in the game bridge?
im out of ideas.
for sure:
fish
card
that's 4 so need 3 more
block of cake
drop cake
not sure what else
but we can also just guess those 4 and then pass with 2 words left and one word at top of list...best chance for next round
we can't win here anyway
in spades you can have a cake nil, meaning it's super easy, doesn't need any covering to make
maybe you can have a cake slam in bridge? dunno
fish
card
drop
block
pass
tie
bridge
?
Ok lets guess those 4
Fish
Card
Drop
Block
Pass
Tie
Bridge
electricity - 4
cake - 7
museum - 4
goggles - 0
Bridge
Casino
Cloak
Face
Kangaroo
Olympus
Parachute
Pool
Tie
Washer
Web
Wind
Charge
Light
Dinosaur
Staff
Chocolate
Shop
Fish
Card
Drop
Block
Switch
Kid
School
resort - 4
Wind is still ours.
Casino and pool.
What else?
electricity - 4
Charge
Light
Wind
????
museum - 4
Dinosaur
Staff
Casino
????
resort - 4
Casino
Pool
????
????
Two left, and they require overlap with the previous clues.
Wind
Bridge
Olympus
Cloak were our next words.
If the list was all correct then an unlimited clue gets us the answers.
I want to throw out Olympus and Cloak to begin with.
I also think there's at least one really tenuous connection with resort because it's a do or die turn I thin, so any overlaps should be more strongly connected to electricity and museum
Wind
Pool
Casino
Are slam dunks
I like Bridge for an electricity and resort overlap.
Then I think Parachute for a resort and museum overlap. I could imagine being able to parachute being an activity available at a resort and a parachute being part of a War display in a museum.
electricity - 4
Charge
Light
Wind
Bridge
museum - 4
Dinosaur
Staff
Casino
Parachute
resort - 4
Casino
Pool
Bridge
Parachute
My main problem with guessing those is that I think museum is weaker than resort but museum was guessed first
I’m fine with
Wind
Pool
Casino
Bridge
and if they’re all correct, we can agonize over the final one. I’m not close to being convinced on parachute.
Wind
Pool
Casino
Bridge
Bridge is their 7th word. I think we can concede.
Electricity - Charge/Light/Wind/Casino
I expected the Switch neutral guess, but I was quite surprised to see Casino not even mentioned as a possibility. I assume all those lights must use a ****ton of electricity.
Museum - Staff/Dinosaur/Casino/Olympus
If there's a turn I want back, it's this one. Should have just said ancient for two. We don't get as many words, but it takes the two toughies of Dinosaur and Olympus off the board.
Resort was just a long shot. Didn't really expect Olympus to work here, but I had to try something. I think it would have worked if we had Casino/Staff/Pool/Parachute remaining.
Bad planning on my part leaving a tough word like Olympus there. That said, blue did very well with their initial 7 clue that I didn't think was going to work at all.
Tough one, gg
the reason for leaving 2 on the list:
if tie is ours, you do 1-clue for other word and we pick up tie with n-1
if tie and bridge are both ours, you do cake-unlimited to let us know to pick those up
if bridge is ours and tie isn't, you clue the last word - unlimited and we know first word isn't ours (no n-1) and both aren't (not cake-unlimited and you clue for different word) so therefore only reason you'd clue unlimited instead of 2 clue is because 2nd word on list is ours
GG all! Our last word was Cloak for the other meaning of cake which might be a British thing lol
You eat cloaks in the UK?
Cloth or velvet?
ah, we say 'caked in mud' or similar here; 'cloaked in darkness' but haven't heard 'caked in darkness' or 'cloaked in mud'
caked means covered physically with some substance like mud or dirt
cloaked is more of a stealth thing (unless it's an actual cloak, which is clothing)
