This was our last list, is this just luck + the 2 backups that are left (Beijing/Press)?

This is either luck, Beijing & Press, or it's Luck, Press and Amazon (because Amazon the company)

I think Luck, Beijing and Press is the way to go, because Amazon is a stretch.

I was going to say is fortune a good clue just to get luck but I tend to overthink it and it's probably fine

I'd have personally gone for a clue like 'Beginners' or 'good' or even 'Lady' to specifically hit Luck but that's just me lol

I'm good with Luck/Beijing/Press

Although if our last 2 words were Luck+Amazon then is there a better clue than fortune for it?

Amazon could hit Director, there are loads of films on Amazon Prime and companies have Directors

I've changed my mind i'm leaning Amazon now lol

I'd feel better about Amazon had he capitalized Fortune, as in Fortune 500.

We agree on Luck and Beijing, so let's start there - if they're wrong, our last guess doesn't matter

I guess Amazon is a better word for Director than Press. Is there a better way for him to have clued Luck, Beijing and Amazon, given our previous list?

I always get confused how to clue properly in this game lol wouldn't a fortune - 2 clue get luck/amazon/beijing as Beijing was next on our backup list?

Oh, damn. I think I made a mistake lol. We should have gone Luck & Press if we wanted to leave options open, because if Beijing is a word, Amazon is not - that would have been a 2 clue.

Think a bit too hasty to bold Beijing but we'll see lol

Can't really see a Press/Amazon connection to race anyway, Beijing for sure has connections.

So given that Press is necessarily our word based on the unlimited clue, our options were Luck/Press/Amazon or Luck/Beijing/Press. Luck, press, amazon doesn't really work because both press and amazon would have been previously clued and they don't work together for Director, and neither works for race.

So let's just bold Press, because it's either our last word or we lose

Round 1. Jet was wrong and you left a backup. 100% reasonable.

The **** are you passing for? You're telling me that if you guessed all 4 race words correctly, it wasn't even worth discussing what the missing director word is?

And why did press go from 1st on the list all the way to 7th after a clue of 4?

There's a case to be made that you should have guessed it before the 4th race word. It almost certainly should be before the 5th race word and DEFINITELY before the LOL 6th race word.

Luckily fence was theirs, otherwise I would have had to annoyingly reclue for Press.

Also it's possible that Amazon was a soccer word.

Honestly I think "soccer - 7" would not have been an unreasonable opener.

I hated press as an answer for director. That's why I put it farther down the list, because I truly believed it was worse than the 6th race word

Was hoping for some thought of Amazon as the place to buy a harp

Didn’t really have fence there as soccer fields in Georgia are never fenced. Grew up playing and my daughter played and never once did one have a fence

Knew trying to clue angel/harp/amazon would be very unlikely; woulda been easier in pictures Codenames

Thought about mythic/fantasy angles, but wasn’t sure if you’d associate Amazon with the Amazon warriors in fantasy or not

I considered not doing n-1 to keep fence live for you since it blocked the unlimited clue

But figured press+luck would be gettable (Whammy!, Gameshow, slots, etc)

When I see Amazon my first thought tends to be the river. Dang. Makes sense though
