Forced Unlimited Guessing Codenames

It's codenames, and the clueing is normal.
But your team has to keep guessing until they win, hit the assassin, or hit a

What else for protest? Charge? Mount?

If it’s against the rules then we should figure out what happens when rules are broken. Not this game, obv, but before next game.

standard breaking of rules means turn ends, other team reveals word of their choice and then takes a turn

I’m fine with whatever, just want the game to stop being stalled.

Sorta should unlimited clues be allowed? I think we loosened up/made the 0 clues more reasonable, no one uses unlimited here - which is OK - if that's the intention should be a penalty. If we wanna allow it which is also totally reasonable then no penalty and let's move on

Doesn't have to hinge on this game, imo EB submitted this variant - EB should make a decision on should people be allowed to clue unlimited in this or no

Oops sorry guys - didnt realise/remember

Unlimited takes the clue out of AI’s hands. The whole point is that we are asking AI for a specific number and are then tied to that number. For example, we can’t ask the bot for a 4-clue and then decide we don’t like the fit of one of the words so then post a 3-clue instead. We have to do a 4-clue because that’s what we prompted. We didn’t β€œloosen up” zero clues, it was always part of the rules. Zero clues are allowed because this game would straight suck if there were no mechanism to avoid a word. And we’re still asking AI for a specific number when we do a zero clue and the prompt has to be about excluding words. Unlimited as a clue pretty much only exists to exploit a list, which is a step too far in spymaster control vs AI.

Regardless of any of this, the rules state unlimited clues are illegal. I’d prefer we didn’t change the rules mid-game, which is why I asked eb what the penalty was. I wasn’t expecting β€œnah, it’s cool.”

we have the pog codenames rules which are:

7.Using an illegal clue. The penalty for using an illegal clue is (1) immediate loss of turn and (2) the opposing team’s spymaster gets to reveal a word of his/her choice.

Okay, anything to get this game moving again.

xander, you’re up.

payment - 3

You’re also supposed to flip a word of your choice.

Check/bill/charge?

You’re also supposed to flip a word of your choice.

Let's just play on, especially since AE has started thinking in thread. A flip now would seem like a bit of an angle.

Festival - 5

I have nfi

Alien - Alien Festival? Probably are some, but meh
Australia - they have Festival; prolly makes top 5 cut
Cap - a lot of hats sold at festivals (jester hats, lots of others)
Cast - festivals often have casts doing various things (juggling, jousting, pantomimes, etc)
Charge - they def charge you a lot for festivals
Church - some churches may throw a fall festival or spring festival or whatever
Draft - nah
Grace - nah
Hospital - nah
Knight - lots of festivals have Knights jousting or sword fighting or whatever
March - lots of spring festivals in March
Mount - mount a pony to ride it at the festival
Play - yeah hits pretty good
Sock - meh
Straw - lot of livestock at county fairs, etc., but meh

top 4 in alpha order:
Australia
Knight
March
Play

those are all decent for first 2 clues as well, which is nice

next options:
cast
charge
others? pretty stretchy at this point

Still nfi. I don’t get Australia. They have festivals? Or is there a celebration in Australia called Festival?

March makes sense (more for parades than the month, but whatever)
Church makes a lot of sense to me, they’re always throwing shindigs
Play for bands playing festivals, definitely
Knights at Ren Faires (the one in my area was called the Renaissance Festival when I was growing up)
Charge probably last for me, for the entry fee

1. Australia good for another desert area and location name like Nevada
2. He did unlimited turn 2 so Australia as top of list should be good
3. Countries have Festivals and World Fests have countries like Australia

So I like Australia; we were penalized for his turn two rule breaking so should be able to use the info to solve this

I’m still not sure how Festival hits Australia. He had to ask AI for a 5-clue. If we think AI included Australia under a clue of “Festival,” that’s fine.

AI is definitely dumb enough to lump Australia into Festival. So tell me your thoughts on my other words. We seem to agree now in principle on the top four.

We agree on knight march play if you wanna bold that and see if alive
