25K Fantasy/ODB pool now open. Computer picks available. Free entry/winnings go to charity
OK, here we go.
Let's adopt David Kluchman's (from BARGE) idea for going over the 200 limit. You just play shorthanded rather than being eliminated.
The other rules 3 are still in effect (9th pick must be unpicked by 25K Fantasy, 10th pick must be unpicked by both 25K Fantasy & ODB, all 10 must cash).
I've come up with a computer generated pick for those who are too lazy to do all that work. Just tell us your charity and the computer does the rest.
I've allowed the computer to do my entry (because I have until May 19th to change it!). Here's what the computer came up with for me:
#1 - Brian Barker
#2 - Cherish Andrews
#3 - Andrew Kelsall
#4 - Richard Solomon
#5 - Stephen Song
#6 - Joe Cada
#7 - Sean Winter
#8 - Jesse Lonis
BONUS: Nikko Laochua
2nd BONUS: James Tomblin
CHARITY: Doctors Without Borders
Well, there it is, our 1st entry. Doesn't look too bad. I'm sure I'll be tinkering with it though before the 19th.
So, let's get those entries in. Either computer generated or something you think up yourself.
I've had to change the charity for Wynn Casino - the university in Kyiv has no direct way to send them donations - charity changed to S.O.S. Ukraine
Is this free to enter? The rules are slightly confusing. If so, here's my entry.
Charity - UNICEF
1 - Yuri Dzivielevski
2 - Ryan Leng
3 - David Peters
4 - Eric Baldwin
5 - Calvin Anderson
6 - Ben Palmer
7 - Jeremy Becker
8 - Cole Ferraro
9 - Peter Hengsakul
10 - Kevin Garosshen
If there's an entry fee, ignore my entry. Thanks.

There is no cost to enter.
Good luck to you and to UNICEF.
So far, 57 entries.
Entries from my homegame players, 2+2 and BARGE group. BARGE group added pledges as well. Absolutely nothing from "X".
Last day for entries.
I'm working on a blog for results as most entries are non-2+2.
CLOSED
Most of the interest for my pools now comes from my homegame players and the BARGE poker group (not 2+2) so I'm started a blog to show the ODB/25K Style results:
https://vegas2024.blogspot.com/
Has this project been abandoned? No updates since June 1st.
I can't blame you for not keeping up. You bit off A LOT trying to keep track of all these different series in a free-to-enter game.
I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining.
Just wondering if it's going to be updated at some point.

Sorry, I guess I only explained on my other blog: I'm currently in Las Vegas and I don't have the software here to run the stats.
I'm returning home tomorrow So the stats should start updating soon.
My first task will be to go through all of our #2 BONUS picks to see if any are disqualified for being ODB Bonus picks.
Then it'll be full speed ahead with the scoring.
For those not following the results of this pool on my blog, bolt2112 has a huge lead and has led pretty much right from the start.
I suspect, but can't prove that "Benjamin Palmer" cashing some $800s at Aria is my pick Ben Palmer and not the guy who previously played $30-150 tournaments.
Won't make much difference in the standings, but would put me at 10/10 players if I'm not mistaken.

Sorry to take so long to reply. In Vegas and the casino wifi is almost non-existant.
Thanks for letting me know - I check again before I finalize to see if any corrections were made.
Well, Ben/Benjamin came through for me and got 4th in the Venetian $1.1k for $35k tonight, so I guess it's a somewhat moot point. I'm now at 10/10 players either way. My hunch is still that those Aria $800 scores are also his, as the Benjamin from Minnesota had previously only played $30-150 events. Somewhat unlikely that he randomly showed up in Vegas this summer and cashed two $800s within a week, but I guess you never know.
Don't think I will win regardless, but proud of the squad. Two bracelets for team DogFace and many deep runs. It's been a fun sweat.

Good to hear you enjoyed sweating this pool. I'm afraid that a lot of others have already forgotten that they entered!
It was fun for me too as I put myself on my team and went to Vegas (twice) to try and cash. Finally got a cash on my 10th attempt.
The saga of Ben "Benjamin" Palmer continues. Another cash from Las Vegas Ben misattributed to Minnesota Ben by Hendon Mob.
This time I can prove it's the Las Vegas Ben Palmer because the Venetian blog has a picture:
That's my guy! Ben/Benjamin has also bagged the current Venetian $800 multi-day event with day 2 coming tomorrow.

Right you are!
Luckily the Venetian posted that picture on Twitter to prove it's Ben not Benjamin.
That completed your team and moves you into 4th.
The other 2 cashes only add up to 1 point so they probably won't make any difference.
p.s. the picture on Twitter is different so we have double proofs that it's Ben not Benjamin
Well, I'm cooked.
Had some sweats in the recent Venetian $800 multi-day. Palmer, Becker, and Anderson all bagged. None made the final table.
Garosshen bagged big in the Venetian $400 on Monday, but didn't make the final table today.
I probably needed 3 of those guys to make a final table to catch Bolt. Michael Rocco was too strong this year!
Blogger software is currently down so I can't update the NAME or STATE/COUNTRY results but I did get the ODB25 results posted.
Joel Baker has cashed 2 more times at the Venetian.
He has tied Team Jeremy in the NAME pool but Jeremy would win by the tiebreaker.
He passes Washington & Florida in the STATE/COUNTRY pool so he (Team Nevada) will probably win.
His 2 cashes moves d1iabol1cal up to 2nd place and drops me back to 3rd in the ODB25.
Still more Venetian results to come in and I gotta check other missing tournaments to see if they've updated.
Blogger is running again. All 3 blogs are now updated with the latest Joel Baker news.
Waiting for the last tournaments to update on Hendon Mob.
I thought it was just a few from the Orleans but I just saw that Kevin Mathers said on Twitter that the WSOP DeepStacks were not cancelled.
Another 50 tournaments to come?
We can't wait forever.
I'll give them 1 more week and then we'll give out the money.
Any other ideas?
I'm in favour of whatever you decide 👍
Results are now official in the NAME, STATE/COUNTRY and ODB25 pools.
2+2 winners were:
mixedgamelover won the $100 prize in the NAME pool by selecting Team Jeremy.
bolt2112 won the ODB25 pool so $670 is on it's way to his charity Doctors Without Borders.
d1iabol1cal got 2nd in the ODB25 pool so $360 is on its way to his charity Bicycle Colorado.
I finished 3rd in the ODB25 pool so $190 is on its way to Canada-Ukraine Foundation.
DogFace finished 4th in the ODB25 pool so $130 is on its way to UNICEF.
Thanks to all who entered.
ps,
mixedgamelover should PM me his PokerStars ID (for cash transfer) or his country of residence + email address (for the Amazon Gift Certificate)
Thank you for doing this. I enjoyed the sweat.
I plan to send a partial match to UNICEF soon.

Excellent.
I had fun running all 3 pools.
Unfortunately, there was wasn't too much excitement.
3 people looked at the blog with the final results of the ODB25 pool
1 person looked at the blog with the final results of the STATE/COUNTRY pool
NOBODY looked at the blog with the final results of the NAME pool
wait there was a blog? i thought it was all run through here?
i often struggle at following what exactly we're doing but admire the dedication nonetheless
