I'd say this is the same thing in spirit, but it doesn't seem explicitly illegal. I'd say it definitely should be though.

since crescent in english translates to croissant in french, I think it hits that rule

I know in english we also have the word croissant and don't call them crescents, but the mystery word is crescent in a foreign language so it's the same thing
