yeah, Egypt is hotter on average than Africa on average, I assume, since it's closer to the equator than much of Africa and also has a lot of desert

Percussion seems more like the clue for those two. I think this clue gets us away from maracas.

It’s not Moon because the clue isn’t drummer.

Drum heads are the surfaces you play on that are stretched across the drum.

Beat means more than just “to hit,” especially in a musical context and especially when it comes to percussion/drumming.

And technically, an instrument is called a percussion instrument because it is struck. It’s one of the debates re: whether the piano is a percussion instrument. Maracas is one of the few exceptions I can think of that isn’t struck. But who gives a ****, because maracas was correct, so I clearly don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
