Box Office Draft 2025 Thread
Proposed rules:
- No January movies
-10 teams, 8 picks per team (no January and maybe still a reduced number of movies?)
-$
Roofman
Caught Stealing
Beneath the Storm
I'm not entirely sure if Love Hurts is valid. It's releasing Friday. I'll repick if needed
I think being 2 weeks out from release is only for replacement picks so it should be fine.
Minecraft movie going to easy cap, wow what a weekend
Guess it shouldn't be that surprising given how huge the game was for generation
Yeah, I really wanted Minecraft...knew that would go gangbusters.
Minecraft saving me after Brave New World
Damn, Sinners is crushing. Lowest 2nd frame drop since Avatar, and for an R-rated horror movie to do that is bonkers. Will be interesting to see how high it can go, but 200m seems about the floor imo.
To replace the Untitled Trey Parker movie which has been bumped to March 2026, I'll
take:
Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere
I was going to say looks like D1ab should win from the strength of Sinners...but apparently Michael is now a 2026 film. We all missed on Weapons. Heck even Ne Zha II might actually be cashing domestically, months after it killing it globally.
The Bride got pushed to '26, so I get a replacement pick, yes?
I'll take Silent Night, Deadly Night because pickins are slim
Mortal Kombat 2 was moved to 2026
I'll take Kill Bill The Whole Bloody Affair just for fun; it's one day only on 12/5, but first time being shown outside of one theater at random times, so excited to go see it as intended, written and directed. It should sell out that day, but only one day so won't do much box office
Getting my second rounder bumped really killed my chances. Not sure it's even worth repicking :(
Eh, I'll just take Nuremberg
Wicked 2 with 68 mil its first day. Still perfectly happy with taking it #1. Should have known better than to take Elio with my second pick. But damn pixar has fallen.
Hopefully when Wicked 2 is over, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will have the decency to disappear forever. I have never seen anything more insufferable than those 2 together in my life.
About time to start thinking about the 2026 movie draft
